Kings & Queens went recurrent this week, do you guys still think it'll make the YE? I think so. Based on TOTC's projected cutoff, it looks to be finishing around the mid-to-upper 80s range, but that could change depending on how the charts evolve over the course of the year. I think we're getting a low cutoff this year. So atm I think K&Q will be at 73 for a random guess

Before You Go has a not 0% chance to make it. The cutoff feels like it could be from 140k-160k and so if the whole year is as weak as these months then it could pull a Believer.

For the Chart week dated Feb 27, 2021, here are my estimations of where songs would be on the running Top 100 of the year:
driver's license continues its relentless trek to the top ten (and eventually, I suspect #1) but 34+35 is doing really well too. I believe Starting Over and Willow now have enough points to guarantee a year-end top 100 position.

So is Starting Over likely to make the year end?

So is Starting Over likely to make the year end? It passes the projected cutoff in around 1-2 weeks, and it isn’t peaking on country radio until the end of March, so I think it’s safe to say it’ll make it.

how many repeats from 2019 made the 2020 year end? because this year it looks like we may be getting only eight from last year (or 9 if ROCKSTAR makes it, or 10 if Before You Go somehow sneaks in as well)

Before You Go will be a toss up until the very end but I think if the pandemic goes down as the year progresses the charts might get stronger & force it out.

Oh my bad i misread.
yeah there was 9 that year. An interesting thing to note is that there really should've been 10 but I Don't Care got totally screwed. It missed 3 weeks of chart run because of the Christmas season that would have put it easily within the top 100. And then it looked like it was going to make it anyway but it got pushed out early by the Lil Baby & Bad Bunny album bombs that crashed into the top 50 & so it needed 14 weeks, should've had 17 but only got 13 & was just short. Ouch

Ouch Sucker would have also easily made it if it had not gotten knocked out by the Christmas music. So it and I Don’t Care likely would have replaced AIWFCIY and Walk Em Down on the 2020 YE if Christmas music weren’t allowed to chart.

So far, the repeats I see this year is Mood, Blinding Lights, Go Crazy, I Hope, Laugh Now Cry Later, All I Want for Christmas Is You, Dynamite, For the Night and maybe Before You Go and ROCKSTAR.

It fell out 2 weeks into the season when there were only 6 Christmas songs on the chart, meaning it could have been at the highest 45 during that week and I suppose it could have run like 46-47-48-49 for the next 4 weeks but it also could have fallen out at one point.

Sucker and I Don't Care don't really deserve to be the 2020 Year End chart. The only reason why they got those extra weeks charting in the 40's is because of a rule change that lowered streaming. Songs like Old Town Road, which were more popular than Sucker and I Don't Care, got screwed by it.

Songs like Old Town Road, which were more popular than Sucker and I Don't Care, got screwed by it. That UGC rule change came the week after the Christmas songs had all left, and while yes, it did screw over OTR's chances of making another Year-End, it really was not a factor as to why Sucker and I Don't Care had a shot at making the 2020 YE. More of the blame should be placed on AC and Hot AC radio rotating the songs back in post-Christmas, which allowed them to return to the Hot 100 and stick around through the next several weeks in the first place.

Well, I'll be honest, I've been pretty busy the last few weeks and this has fallen by the wayside a bit. Sorry for not updating last week, but I'm posting my images via twitter each week. The forecast is in the replies. Sorry again for the lackluster update, I'll hopefully be able to go back to proper updates once I'm past all this!

This year so far feels very uneventful - the New Music Friday playlist is full of new names every week.

The chart week ending Mar 6, 2021 has been added to my Top 100 of the year predictions, and Olivia has cracked the top ten! Things are moving so slowly on the chart I can't even foresee when we will have a new song in the weekly top ten, much less a new song in the year-end top ten. I'm becoming more convinced that the cut-off will be closer to 1500 points under my system than 1600. In the words of Golden Earring, "Brenda Lee coming on strong!"

Can we all just agree that 2021 so far is just 2020 but s**ttier? 2020 managed to be a good year for pop music because we were able to rely on a number of great songs and artists that popped up in late 2019/early 2020, before the pandemic hit. Now that those piques of interest have run their course and a number of big artists are still sitting on projects until life returns to normal, we're stuck with a Hot 100 that's otherwise stable, but increasingly stale and devoid of intrigue. I'm not sure I'd quite call 2021 as bad of a year for pop music thus far as some are making it out to be, but it's absolutely less interesting than 2020 was.

Both for music and the world at large It feels like 2020 is still here. 34+35 is from 2020, positions is from 2020, Levitating is from 2020, Go Crazy is from 2020, Save Your Tears is from 2020, Mood is from 2020 and Blinding Lights is from 2019. Even some of the newer songs like Up feel like just keeping the ball rolling from iconic 2020 hits & could have easily fit in to that chart year. I guess Drivers License at least isn't a 2020 holdover even if it doesn't seem super specific to this year. The real frustration is that the biggest new shakeup that screams "2021" was perhaps Good Days and that barely even picked up traction in the top 10 & is already on the way out while that blanket of 2020 songs lounge around in there with no problem.
