So I was bored and decided to quickly put together a formula that would make more sense in 2020 in my opinion of course. It's a pretty small tweak, and this is how it would've looked in weeks with #1 debuts driven by website sales. Current formula: Sales ÷ 500 Paid streams ÷ 125,000 Free streams ÷ 187,500 Programmed streams ÷ 250,000 Radio impressions ÷ 600,000 Revision formula: Sales ÷ 1,000 Paid streams ÷ 100,000 Free streams ÷ 150,000 Programmed streams ÷ 300,000 Radio impressions ÷ 600,000 - Weighing down sales to down-size the relatively too high impact for debuts in 2020 - Weighing up user-interactive streams (paid+free) to recognize the fact the large amount of video-streams being removed hurt streaming's influence on Hot 100 - Radio weighed the same, but radio-driven hits are a tad weaker as streaming got more points. {Spoiler} Week of 'Life Goes On' debut:Wouldn't have been close to a #1 debut, would have needed 224k+ sales instead to debut at #1, with practically zero airplay and relatively little streaming. Week of 'Franchise' debut:Instead of going #1 with less than 100k sales, while being #6 on streaming and having almost no airplay, it would've debuted #3. The cultural phenomenon WAP would've been #1 by a far margin, instead of not even top 2. Dynamite wouldn't have been top 5, instead of #2. Week of 'Trollz' debut:
Trollz would have also missed #1, and with today's current rule of not allowing bundles that don't even ship it would've actually been #3 instead without those sales. Just like that, with a formula that took 3 minutes to think of, Billboard's Hot 100 #1 spot would've had 10x more credibility in 2020.

Surprised La Noche de Anoche didn't debut in the Top 40 but ROSALÍA is still chatting and it isnone of the better songs on the album so I'm happy. It probably would have if it weren't for christmas. dakiti would be #3, too

Chris Brown's new music won't ever top Yeah 3x as his best modern song. Is that the one that essentially plagiarised Calvin Harris's I'm Not Alone? That's right. His tweet about that issue remains iconic honestly.

Curious, can you also see whether THE SCOTTS, Stuck With U, Rain On Me, Cardigan, Watermelon Sugar, and Savage Love would have debuted at or gone to #1 under this formula? (I’d add Say So and Savage too, but both probably would have gone to #1 naturally anyway.)

"FRANCHISE" already left the charts? Oh wow - guess we can say this one is guaranteed to miss the Year-End.
Not a good week for Juice WRLD either, but I'm glad with yet another boost for "Midnight Sky" and "Prisoner" stabilizing thanks to the album boost. I would love if either of those manage to become a hit, but with radio's apparent distaste of Miley, it seems unlikely.

Here's the top 5 for most of those weeks (since this can get pretty time consuming). 2020 #1's would've looked like:- The Box - Blinding Lights - Toosie Slide - The Scotts - Say So - Gooba - Savage - Rockstar - WAP - Laugh Now Cry Later - Dynamite (only 1 week #1) - Mood - Positions - Stuck With U - Trollz - Rain On Me - Cardigan - Watermelon Sugar - Franchise- Savage Love- Life Goes OnOnly 3 out of 13 #1's would've spent less than 10 weeks top 10. Compared to: 5 #1's this year couldn't even spend 2 weeks top 10.

Santa Tell Me could finally re-enter the chart this year, it's getting close #5 recurrent, #22 Holiday songs with the #19 in the topo 10 already!
I could see Katy Perry's Cozy Little Christmas eventually rising in profile in years to come

^"Cardigan" not mentioned up there. Would it have been #1 per that formula?
