Honestly the reason why i feel that this still be 80+ is the fact that Lover got a 79. I feel this is more concise than Lover and evermore does not have a ME! problem. I feel this albums opening is one of her strongest (the first 6-7 songs), but in the middle it lingers maybe a little bit too long until "long story short" or "cowboy like me" picks the pace up. However I feel this album will age well just like folklore and it need multiple listens to fully appreciate which is ok.

do we have a reliable source for this? her album rollouts before that always started around that time. The video was filmed in May, but the trial got underway and didn't conclude until early August. Obviously, she had to hold the release for a couple of weeks after the verdict. The reason why it makes sense is that ...RFI was released about 10 days later because of the tie-in with ABC's Saturday Night Football promotional campaign/pre-order. I suspect the original timing was late-July to give LWYMMD 5-6 weeks before RFI/pre-order. Everything was so rushed and compressed for LWYMMD. no no. shake it off was also filmed in may/early june. I've read somewhere that wanegbt was also shot in june. idk the lead came out around exactly when her last 4 leads came out, the album as well, and she was in the same label. The RFI video was shot on August 21, 2017. and it came out 2 months later. Just like Blank Space that was shot in September and came out in early November. I think it's just a rumor cause everything is backing up the fact that it was just on the time of her regular release. They just released RFI with no mv on sept 3 right after LWYMMD because it was a radio poison and people hated it so they needed a song to keep the album hype going.

My thoughts on folklore vs evermore are: she was coming off Lover then. She is coming off folklore now. I think that's going to be the main drawback here. "folklore did it first, folklore did it better". I'm glad she doesn't care that much anymore. Only good stuff can come out of it.

This doesn’t quite reach the heights of folklore (cardigan, exile, august) but it’s a very good album full of interesting songs. I appreciate the more experimental direction she took with the record which sets it apart from the previous one. Gold Rush was an early highlight for me.

Also Taylor had never released a lead single earlier than mid-August by that point (probably a BMR thing) so I doubt that LWYMMD was ever planned for a July release.

On first listen, I love this album more than I liked folklore on first listen. folklore is my 2nd fav Taylor album, after taking a couple of listens to grow on me. I can see a lot of evermore growing on me too.
My top 5 on first listen are: 1. evermore 2. gold rush 3. willow 4. marjorie 5. tolerate it

Not really feeling this, which sucks! It kinda sounds like what people who thought folklore was just fine heard. I liked the one that had a Blinding Lights beat and Willow but I wanted a more diverse range of sounds and I don't think we really got that :/. Ivy sounds so much like Invisible String lol, did she sample herself? Long story short reminds me of The Last Great American Dynasty

Just finished my first two listens.
I think it should go without saying that no; this obviously isn't better than 'folklore'. I knew that going in, this wouldn't have the same impact as round 1 and I think Taylor knew that as well. It isn't as well paced or sequence as 'folklore' which means despite it being roughly the same length, it feels a bit longer. I do think the instrumental isn't as sharp - especially on 'closure' - and Taylor still isn't really a remarkable singer and while she can sell anger and revenge, she lacks the grit in her voice to really make her kiss offs great. I'm also confused as to why 'willow' is the lead-off single and the opener: it doesn't really have a strong hook or chorus and it's not even as catchy as 'Safe and Sound' or 'cardigan'. In fact, I think starting the album with 'champagne problems' would've been a better fit.
I think the best way to describe 'evermore' is a pretty good/really solid Season 2 that had to follow an amazing Season 1. It keeps the same aesthetic and tone as 'folklore' but doesn't necessarily follow the story or the characters so it doesn't need to worry about continuity and it's more allowed to stand on it's own. And while not reaching the highs of an 'august' or 'exile', Taylor's writing is still spot-on - she's still a great story-teller and I'll know it'll be fascinating going through the lyrics of 'no body, no crime', 'champagne problems', and 'happiness' - and even with the weakest songs, there are no serious duds so far.

Started listening to Evermore this morning. I don't know if it's because I was so hyped, but I'm disappointed so far. I am on "Happiness" right now, and the only track I have really enjoyed is "No Body, No Crime". Oh well.

I am on "Happiness" right now, and the only track I have really enjoyed is "No Body, No Crime". Oh well. This is what I actually felt when I heard folklore for the first time... I only like few tracks like the 1, cardigan and exile. And it took a lot of listens for me to really appreciate other songs.. and right now, I absolutely loved every track of folklore so much. And I think that it's also an advantage because we need to hear it again and again to appreciate it more, thus more streams for the album.

I feel the same way I felt with folklore. A strong artistic achievement (if a little less interesting than the first one), with a few gems, but it isn't for me. I do have "the 1" and "august" still on rotation so maybe these songs will pop up later for me.
Hoping TS10 finds her on a more upbeat note.

Thanks god, you gave her the amazing talent in music. I really appreciate to her. Both folklore and evermore are great and sound like combined album as she said, 'sister' album. Awesome.

Not saying much until this album sinks in. Folklore is my fave album of 2020 and that took some time to grow on me. Evermore does seem more “Hoax” / “Peace” than anything else off of Folklore. Those were the only tracks I could have done without. But this is a Taylor album. I’ll end up loving it I’m sure.

Gave this a listen, while it's a nice album, it's not as good as Folklore imo. Folklore took its time to grow on me so i expect Evermore to do the same.

I love this album so much. Not even comparing it to folklore, they’re both similar yet so different, and I love them both the same.

NO BODY, NO CRIME SHOULD HAVE BEEN A DUET WITH CARRIE UNDERWOOD AND SENT TO COUNTRY RADIO. I said what I said. Giving me Two Black Cadillacs vibes in all the right ways.

So... coming off of Folklore, this album is disappointing to me. It did not grab me like it's predecessor and it just felt like it dragged on. No Body, No Crime is sticking out to me as one of the better songs. I'll continue to listen to the album but as of right now, it's not one of my favorite Taylor Swift albums.

Like a lot of you, still really soaking it in. I think 'Folklore' taught me how to listen to this album. I did not think much of 'Folklore' at all at first, except for a couple tracks, and then it crept in and in and now I listen to it daily and it's one of my all time favorite albums. I know these songs are journeys that take time to settle in, so I can't wait to just let this one continue to wash over me. Right now, I think tracks 1-5 are pure bliss and perfection.

Folklore has the benefit of being a “wow” factor in that she had not ever done the surprise launch thing before and it was her first foray into this style of music.
The benefit this collection has is that it has more tempo so a bunch of these are more immediate and don’t need repeat listens to “get them.” There are some career highlights here (“no body no crime”) and some I will probably skip (“gold rush” is not doing anything for me at all) and overall it’s another strong display of her songwriting. I love her.

It felt like an extension of Folklore, so I felt it held up to what she described. I honestly wonder if there will be a "Part III" and it's sort of a little trilogy of albums during the pandemic. Once she starts touring again, I can't see her pulling too many of these songs for a huge tour aside from Cardigan, Willow, and Exile.
Willow is outstanding. "I come back stronger than a 90's trend" lol
No Body, No Crime would have smashed on country radio like 5 years ago
Gold Rush has that beat that makes me want to strut around town
Long Story Short was a pleasant surprise. Very poppy, but doesn't lose the feel of the album and the poignant lyrics.
Evermore was a great album closer, and I loved the lyrics here.
It's going to take a few listens, I think I prefer Folklore... folklore being a 9/10 and this being like an 8.5/10.
