To me the biggest comebacks belong to artists like Cher with "Believe," Santana in 1999, Elvis in 1968, Tina Turner in 1984, Meat Loaf in 1993, and Mariah Carey with The Emancipation of Mimi. As of now Kid Cudi is not close to that level of comeback. Technically, Cudi had a #1 this year... with strong emphasis on "technically" Right, so are you saying he belongs in with the comebacks I mentioned?

Even if Brenda herself hasn't pushed "RATCT" I can't help but wonder if the label is pushing for #1. It started with the discounted price on iTunes, and it apparently has been pushed hard at Pandora, and now it's been surging on Spotify. Maybe it's all just coincidence, but there could be some behind the scenes work going on. The song deserves to get to #1 at some point.

Focus was such a wasted potential. As much as it was a ripoff of Problem, it could have been a smash if it wasn't for that "chorus". It's interesting that despite most of her fans not liking Focus, I actually liked it, and the chorus, though risky and not what you would typically expect from a pop song, I really dug it because it was so wild and bombastic. As for your opinion of it being a "ripoff" of Problem, I was surprised to learn recently that many of her fans, including many posters here, didn't like that song either; it makes you wonder how it did so well - it was her biggest hit pre-Thank U, Next, and I was under the impression it was her signature, fan favorite until then. Ariana had a ton of hype back then. Problem was never hated. It does sound dated now though, and thats why most of her fans including me are tired of this song. In 2014, it was trendy, it was everywhere and everyone loved it. Guarantee

In 2017, Problem won the Ariana Grande rankdown so I don't really think there's a lot of haters for that song Anyways if that rankdown was redone today I believe it would fare way worse

I was told Spotify has Brenda at the top of some playlists which helped. I am sure that's a new form of 'payola' (not saying her in particular, but obviously getting on playlists and having a good position on them is helpful).

The drop is about 40% which is similar to the drop folklore's tracks have, I think

Does anyone else find it off that My Only Wish by Britney doesn’t perform well?! Like I never even heard some of the newer (2000-) Xmas songs yet on the radio or in stores.

I just compiled the Spotify daily charts, someone might be interested in the following: From chart 01-01-2017 - 12-12-2020 (1442 days - 3 not available on spotifycharts) There are 287,800 entries (200 each day) out of which 5,467 unique songs have charted on Global chart, while 6,780 unique songs have charted on the US chart in the same time period. Here is how many songs artists have among the top 100-50,000 most streamed songs in this time period. The Artists are sorted based on top 1,000 (1k & 5k give the best picture of which artists do great on the platform). I didn't add positions because based on how you choose to rank them the positions change. Post Malone is the artist with the most songs charted on US (12,079), while Ed Sheeran is still the king of Global (8,900).
For refference: Pos. | US | Global | #100 | 3,351,764 | 8,287,678 | #500 | 2,441,191 | 6,614,317 | #1,000 | 2,005,612 | 5,812,401 | #5,000 | 1,298,253 | 3,899,861 | #10,000 | 1,042,265 | 3,180,392 | #50,000 | 540,030 | 1,653,201 |

^I wouldn't say it's definite, though it's in contention, for sure. Amazon Music could thwart it.

^I wouldn't say it's definite, though it's in contention, for sure. Amazon Music could thwart it. Not today, Bezos, not today. Hath he not wrought enough damage on this world? (i hope)

^The issue is that a lot of people have Amazon Prime subscriptions to stream Amazon Music. They have been selling in many places the Amazon devices that can stream audio at nearly half price most of the time since Prime Day this year.

LMAO at the "willow" remix. She is shameless, that's for sure.

What daily streams for the Christmas songs are realistic on Amazon Music? I read in another thread it’s more than on Spotify and AM combined, is that a reasonable estimate?

LMAO at the "willow" remix. She is shameless, that's for sure. Exactly!! All of this just to get a song to #1 for just 1 week and forgotten soon afterwards.

LMAO at the "willow" remix. She is shameless, that's for sure. Or savvy. Clearly this remix was ready. The fact they dropped on Sunday and not Tues/Wed is interesting. Fortunately, AIFCIY nabbed #1 last season. Extra weeks at #1 are icing. Also, it probably lost streaming/sales points to the Magical remix and maybe a little streaming with the revamped Oh, Santa. KC's comeback doesn't even come close to the ones you mentioned + Billy Ray Cyrus. All those were huge cultural events that extended far beyond music fans. Those comebacks were covered for months in mainstream media, the artists were on TV, awards shows, talk shows, etc. It's funny because Cher had 3 Top 10 hits just NINE years earlier. Her 1987 comeback was equally big with music/Moonstruck.

LMAO at the "willow" remix. She is shameless, that's for sure. Blinding Lights had a remix, I don't remember you making a comment about that.

jeng, should we use shameless to describe other acts/labels who have pulled out all the stops to get to No. 1? It's marketing, when all is said and done. Some care more about the charts than others in doing such.
Keep- wouldn't activity for the Magical version of AIWFCIY be merged with the original?
