Like I said in the "Run: thread all signs are pointing towards this being the thread and not "Run" (the station touting this as a single also got Russell Dickeron's "Home Sweet" right) so for now I am just gonna start a tentative thread for this song in the country forum as my gut is telling me that it will be Lauren Alaina's next single. Also I finally want to have my very first Lauren Alaina single thread given the fact that I am her biggest fan on Pulse here.
Artist: Lauren Alaina (Featuring Jon Pardi) Single: "Getting Over Him" Album: Getting Over Him EP Label: UMG/Mercury Nashville Songwriters: Lauren Alaina, Paul Digiovanni, Emily Weisband Impact Date: February 22nd, 2021

I thought it would be "What Do You Think Of? with Lukas Graham? It is on the Top 60 Mediabase Top 60 small market charts.

I hope this is in fact the next single. I’ve been wrong once or twice before, but I really feel like this one has all the ingredients to be a big hit for her.
I’m also very curious to see if they have any plans to push “What Do You Think Of?” to Hot AC and/or other formats. I don’t think it’s the right choice for country radio, but it seems odd that they would go to the trouble of shooting a music video for a song that will only be heard on The Highway.

I love the love for Lauren Alaina on Pulse. I love that we have two single threads for an unannounced single. I really believe she has one of the most interesting careers in country music and it makes for great discussion.
So, per that discussion: this is not related to her next single, but Lauren's Opry performance from last night is streaming on her YouTube right now (it's an amazing show with Kelsea Ballerini and Lady A as well) and she teases a really "exciting announcement" regarding the Opry that is coming on Christmas Day. This couldn't be an induction, could it? Typically artists, don't see that coming, right?

Got my hopes up lowkey when I saw this thread title pop up in the forum only to find out there's no confirmation yet that it's next, but I am hoping that it becomes a reality. They better pick this one over "Run"!

Sorry if my post comes across as hostile in advance: I am like 99% sure "What Do You Think Of" is not the next single, and before you say "bUt ThErE wAs A mUsIc ViDeO" or anything about it being on that one chart 1. Non singles have gotten music videos in the past and music video doesn't mean automatically single 2. Like carriekins told you and I want to reiterate, "What Do You Think Of" is only on that chart due to getting played by The Highway on Sirius XM. That chart also doesn't automatically mean it would be a single I feel like "Getting Over Him" and "Run" are more likely since both have at least been played ("Getting Over Him" the station confirmed the latest single by Russell Dickerson before AllAccess confirmed it) or sent ("Run") by mainstream stations and both tweets indicate those songs are potential singles, there is more smoke there as the smoke for "What Do You Think Of" imo is hardly there since even in the press releases for the music video there was never any wording of it being a single.

Looking at Lauren Alaina's discography Wikipedia page today, I was reminded just how terrible radio has treated her and how strange it is they continue to allow her moderate success. Her airplay peaks are 36, 28, 34, 56, 43, 1, 27, 40, and 29 (with two #1 features in between). Nobody has an airplay record like her. It makes me all the more excited for them to officially announce this as the single so she can have at least another top 10.
Also, 2020 will be the first year in her career aside from 2014 that she hasn't released a radio single.

We need an add date on this stat. Before Dustin Lynch peaks and tries to send "Thinkin' Bout You" before this one gains enough traction to go the distance. C'mon, UMG...

To be fair we don't even know if this is 100% the next single, there has been pretty much nothing in terms of what is the new single, trust me I have been looking online every day multiple times a day. sabre14 do you have any news on whether this or what in general is Lauren Alaina's next single?

This will be Lauren's next radio single. Impacts February 22nd. I cannot express how happy this news makes me. Her team finally getting something right. This excites me because she should finally get another top 20 hit now and they'll be able to put out her third album at last.

I'm not as into this song as most people here, but great move for a radio single choice. Dropped this off my regular playlist after a few weeks unlike the duet with Lukas Graham which is still one of my most played, but definitely makes the most sense for a radio single. I hope it's a hit for both of them.

HALLELUJAH! Genuinely the best decision Lauren and her label has made in years. This should be a hit. I’ll be surprised if it’s not.

Oh wow. I am ecstatic and relieved. What a fantastic decision. Hope it gets streamed like crazy next spring/summer. I'm sure it'll take a while to peak at (hopefully) #1.

I am happy this is confirmed to be the next single but I am not assuming anything about how well this will do on the charts since nothing is guaranteed and after Danielle Bradbery's "Goodbye Summer" flopped a few years ago and that had Thomas Rhett on it, I am not gonna think just cause this has Jon Pardi on it this will automatically succeed.

I agree with this, but I am more convinced it will do well because of radio's willingness to play "Getting Good" to the bitter end. Sure they were resistant, obvious by its peak, but it's not like Lauren is coming off of a string of top 40-misses. She also just peaked at #1 with "One Beer" and every single time I hear a radio host announce the song, they specifically include her feature. I think this will do at least better than anything since "Road Less Traveled".

Thank God this was chosen. Hopefully this can finally get her third album out. I really don’t get radio’s idea of not playing her. She’s got a sizable fan base and like Maddie & Tae her streaming numbers are fantastic. I mean Getting Good has over 35 million Spotify streams and Doin’ Fine has nearly 60 million. Both of those out streamed many of the newer songs by front runners Carrie and Miranda. Not to mention her songs and voice are stellar. There is no reason that she shouldn’t be up there giving Maren and Kelsea a run for their money as the next generation female artists. *rant over lol*

Something about this just doesn't fully click with me. I think it's a few of the lyrics and a couple of Pardi's parts that just make me cringe and prevent me from really enjoying this. (The way he sings the second "GURL" sends a shiver up my spine.) Personally, I much prefer "Run" "If I Was a Beer" "Bar Back" and especially "What Do You Think Of?" to this, however, I do think this is probably the best choice for radio. I think an uptempo is the right choice and I hope Pardi's name will make this move a little faster and eventually turn into another hit for her.

Glad it is 100% confirmed with the AllAccess Future Releases showing. I am hopeful this can get a good add date since country radio I think does like Lauren Alaina. Luckily add date is only 2 weeks from now so not too much of a wait now.

Okay, good. I was getting nervous not seeing it show up on any future release charts that maybe it wasn't happening.
I am all for this. I am so nervous but I am for it. What an exhausting relationship with country radio.

If she's ever going to get another hit with her as the 'lead', i think this the right type of song. This screams hit to me.
