Those Christmas songs pulled in a lot of streams in the first day or two of the tracking week. They have still the top four streamed songs and 6 of the top 7 Yes as I said - 2/3 of the streaming took place on day 1 of the tracking week. But the point is 1/3 took place after I was merely putting it into perspective and giving it real context, and/by pointing out the top four were Christmas songs.

I guess I'm only that wants Blinding Lights to stay around, Save Your Tears is a fine song but Blinding Lights is way better. Only Bieber can have two top ten airplay hits at the same time :/

Love that 2 of the longest charting songs, Circles and Blinding Lights, are two of the greatest songs. I don't know anyone that dislikes either one. I don't like either one. I don't mind either one, but I don't love them either. Of course, that kind of song is how Maroon 5 got a bunch of hits.

^ I enjoy both (though I agree RATCT is overrated), but "Last Christmas" should definitely be way bigger than it is. Y'all continue to confuse me with these posts. "Last Christmas" IS huge. There's not even room for it to be "way" bigger.

Blinding Lights Radio #8 Sales #3 Streaming #22 Imagine how weak every song is in all 3 metrics for this to be #3. Its stats fit more the 8-12 region lol

Btw I would like everyone to check out the 18-22 region of the Hot 100 to find the beloved Dakiti-Body-34+35 triplet of hits. Okay Billboard, this is getting ridiculous. They all feel bigger than BL, LNCL, GC or I hope right now. Lets not mention Mood, Dynamite and ofc the Christmas songs

Makes sense that lots of Christmas songs are still charting. The chart week was December 25-January 1. If the Mariah song is any indication of the others 2/3 of the streaming activity took place on 12/25 but the other 1/3 took place after 12/25 In previous years Christmas Day wasn't enough to help these songs stay on the chart. That's why there was some surprise. Holiday songs had a bigger Christmas Day than usual (relatively at least) and then hung on a bit better than expected the next 1-2 days.

In the 'everything can chart' world it is easier to see
Just quoting the published math
If 2/3 of Mariah's streaming total took place on Christmas, then 1/3 took place after
I guess I should rephrase, It makes sense TO ME(surprise to others) because it seems reasonable to assume that Christmas songs do not get unilaterally shut off in people's homes the second the calendar turns to 12/26

^ I enjoy both (though I agree RATCT is overrated), but "Last Christmas" should definitely be way bigger than it is. Y'all continue to confuse me with these posts. "Last Christmas" IS huge. There's not even room for it to be "way" bigger. It's a hot 100 thread. It has a long way to go before it is huge.

Blinding Lights Radio #8 Sales #3 Streaming #22 Imagine how weak every song is in all 3 metrics for this to be #3. Its stats fit more the 8-12 region lol This one too: Positions: Sales #16 Streaming #18 Radio #4

Addressing your post I thought the initial post was straightforwrad and non controversial maybe it isn't - so I will clarify I get it is a surprise to you and others that Christmas songs charted after Christmas. To clarify - not a surprise to me.

Had 2/3 been the pattern, nobody would be surprised. However it was not the pattern until this year.

It is easier to measure now There have been many years when Christmas songs were allowed to chart that isolated songs have hung on a week or two after Christmas. Christmas market is bigger now, rules for charting have been loosened. So easier to see Anyway - yes --- I get that it is a surprise to others. Based on everything I posted, My opinion is the opposite

Based on everything I posted, My opinion is the opposite Well for starters they charted this week due to streams. So we can look at the past two or so years and see That there was indeed a huge increase in Christmas song streams on Christmas Day and the day after in comparison. it was not a normal or progressive increase ss had been happening. it isn't about people play Christmas songs after Christmas Day. Of course they do. We all know that, we aren't stupid. It is about the dramatic increase THIS year for Christmas Day and the days after, thst definitely impacted the charts in a non typical manner.

We all know you can't compare today's chart experiences with those from forty or fifty years ago when a Christmas song or two lingered a week or two based on sales.

Merry Christmas, Pulse! (if you celebrate it) The Christmas music leaves, new albums from Playboi Carti and Lil Durk, and new songs from SZA, blackbear/Wiz Khalifa, and (unfortunately) AJR. you said that too soon
