Leaving next is “I Still Love You” which unfortunately means bboat11 is our first participant to lose their #1 song. This in fact had a good run inside the top 5 during the middle part of its run, however, it would eventually settle back outside of that with the addition of two more bottom 3 rankings from kw9461 and George Strait Junkie (who actually loses their last place!). While it did in fact start off in the bottom 3 thanks to castleoblivion26, it quickly rebounded thanks to a top 3 from Kanenrá:ke who would later be joined there by .indulgecountry. |

The final track from the album, “Three Minute Positive Not Too Country Up-Tempo Love Song”, bows out next. This was generally well-received overall as it picked up only a few bottom 3 rankings with everyone else placing it either just outside of or somewhere within their top 5. Of those, both Kanenrá:ke and .indulgecountry put this as their #2 followed by a top 3 from gardyfan. This did flirt with the top 5 a few times over the course of its run and even managed to sneak into the top 4. This was oh-so-close to finishing inside the top 5 as only one point separated it from making it in! |

The title track is the winner contender for sure, but rooting for The Thrill Is Back.
Also good god Where I Come From was...pretty bad. Can't believe it was a single.

Despite it coming in as the second most polarizing song, “Life or Love” still proved to be a steady top 5 contender for its entire run. The majority of the group did actually place this at or near their top 5 with someguy becoming our second participant to lose their #1 song. The only reason this was on the polarizing side is that both Cody Wants Out... and gardyfan set aside a spot for it in last place ("Meat and Potato Man" was right there, but nope!). |

“A Love Like That” proved to be a solid top 3 contender for its entire run...that was up until the very end when it had to settle back one spot due to it being tied in points with our next song. Seven participants overall placed this within their top 5 with both castleoblivion26 and someguy ranking it as their runner-up. As for gardyfan, he yet again disagreed with the majority and placed this in his bottom 2. This has always been a go-to track for me from this album. I think it would've made a great choice for a single as it fits perfectly into the rest of Alan's discography. |

The albums lead single bows out next and only made it back into the top 3 at the very last moment. That is thanks to George Strait Junkie's #1 ranking being the deciding factor for breaking the tie in points with "A Love Like That". Six others joined him in the top 5 with a handful of participants placing this in their top 3. This still managed to come in as the third most polarizing song, though, as it picked up a trio of bottom 3 rankings including a last place from Kanenrá:ke. As many of you will recall, this actually exited in the bottom 10 from Alan's singles rankdown as it's never been all that well-regarded (especially here on Pulse!). This is one single that I myself warmed back up to a bit after revisiting it during the series and certainly think that it gets a bit more hate than it should. |

1. Freight Train is the only album thus far in the series where an album track came out on top. Might history repeat itself again or will one of the singles be #1? *Honestly, I find it strange to pose this question, but that's just me. I'm all-but-certain that the title track will come out on top.Still feeling confident in that prediction?! |

By a mere three points, "The Thrill Is Back" comes out on top and is only the second album track to do so in the series ("Taillights Blue" was the previous winner for Freight Train). Once this took hold of the top spot there was no letting go as "When Somebody Loves You" would remain in the runner-up position for the duration of its run. That's despite five participants placing that in their #1 position and all but two placing it outside of their top 5 (those being .indulgecountry and George Strait Junkie). "The Thrill Is Back" also has the distinction of being the only song from the album in which all of the participants ranked it in their top 5! Of those, four get a perfect ranking including Kanenrá:ke, .indulgecountry, kw9461, and 🌺CountryLineDancer who actually got a perfect 1-2-3 ranking! I admittedly didn't see this one coming going into the rankdown! I for sure didn't expect "The Thrill Is Back" to be so well-liked nor did I think it would be a contender for the top spot. It could also be that the singles from this album aren't as well-regarded amongst the other hits in Alan's discography and therefore some of the rankings came in a bit lower for them here. That paved the way for an album track to come out ahead this time around which is quite a rare feat in album rankdowns! Thanks again y'all for coming through as I know this album isn't necessarily a favorite nor one of his best. I hope a few more of you plan on submitting for Like Red On a Rose as soon thereafter the album series will in fact be wrapping up with only three albums remaining ( Everything I Love, Drive, and Where Have You Gone). I am still leaving open the possibility of doing a rankdown for The Bluegrass Album, but I'm going to hold off for now and gauge the interest level for that at a later time. |

As I mentioned above, we're oh-so-close to having Alan's album series wrapped up as only three remain including Everything I Love, Drive, and his latest record Where Have You Gone. That is after we get through Like Red On A Rose, of course! Speaking of, I have received four lists so far which hopefully we can double if possible. A couple of you have already mentioned to me that you don't plan on submitting for this one, but I still hope some of you give this one a chance as it certainly fits the mood for Valentine's Day which is right around the corner. I am still planning on getting the reveals for it underway that week, so for now the due date remains Friday, February 11th which is a little over a week away.
