"Working Class Hero" is a perfectly fine song. As far as songs celebrating the working class go, this is just about as average as they come, lol. It's good, but just doesn't stack up against a strong album like this.

The first song to exit is also the last track on the album. "Working Class Hero" didn't garner much support as it received eight last place rankings and not one single top five ranking. This settled to the back quite early on and once it did it remained in last place for the duration of its run making this our least polarizing song from the album.

There's a lady living right above me Pretty as a picture on the wall Once I helped her with a bag of groceries We met a time or two out in the hall
She told me somebody hurt her feelings The hurt that's in her eyes is plain to see Slowly she's been wearing out my ceiling 9. “Walkin’ the Floor Over Me” Track: #9 Songwriters: Alan Jackson, Don Sampson Total: 118 Average: 7.38 Std Dev: 1.59 (2ND LOWEST) {Songs Remaining}Dallas Don’t Rock the Jukebox From a Distance Just Playin’ Possum Love’s Got a Hold on You Midnight in Montgomery Someday That’s All I Need to Know

"Walkin' the Floor Over Me" is our second song to exit in the bottom three and much like the previous song this also happens to be the second to last track on the album (as well as our second least polarizing song!). While this did initially start out in the top five thanks to Kanenrá:ke's initial ranking, it quickly settled back into the bottom three early on where it remained for the duration of its run. This didn't receive any last place rankings, but it did garner five bottom two rankings along with four additional bottom three rankings.

"Walkin' The Floor Over Me" had a lot of potential with that lyrical premise, but I feel like it kinda didn't reach its full potential. There could have been a much more interesting story here than just "this pretty lady with a broken heart is pacing upstairs and I'm down here dreaming about her". Make them interact! Tell us what happens when he helps her carry her groceries!! Give her a personality other than being sad and pretty! It's like whenever the song had the potential to get more interesting, it reverted back to him just laying in bed fantasizing about her just because she's sad.
Still, it's a good song that I would never skip! I can see why it was in the bottom 2 though.

"Just Playin' Possum" is a clever song, but tbh the pun wears thin for me because it's just soooo hyper specific. It's good for a "haha you're playing possum from all your responsibilities, and also listening to The Possum George Jones!" moment, but then it's like why did there need to be an entire song about this?

"Just Playin' Possum" is our final song to exit the bottom three and is comes in as our second most polarizing song. This very briefly jumped into the top five early on thanks to George Strait Junkie 's top two ranking, however it quickly settled back into the bottom three where it would remain for much of its run. This picked up two last place rankings from ClevelandRox and taylor is terrified as well as six additional bottom three rankings. It wasn't all doom and gloom for this though as .indulgecountry , 🌺CountryLineDancer , and gardyfan put this into their top five.

And with that we've cleared out the bottom three songs! I'm going to take a short pause for the moment and I'll likely swing back around here in a bit for a couple more reveals.

I had to look through our old pictures To see the way we used to smile Before we left love in the closet Like it just went out of style
Can we pull out those old feelin's Wipe the hurt away like dust Make love shine the way it used to shine Find the gold beneath the rust 7. “That’s All I Need to Know” Track: #2 Songwriters: Alan Jackson, Jim McBride Total: 110 Average: 6.88 Std Dev: 2.09 (4th Highest) {Songs Remaining}Dallas Don’t Rock the Jukebox From a Distance Love’s Got a Hold on You Midnight in Montgomery Someday

"That's All I Need to Know" was mostly on track to finish just shy of the top five, but it was pushed back one spot at the last minute when it received its fourth bottom two ranking. Speaking of which, of those four both someguy and Cody Wants Out... put this as their last place song. At the other end, we have five participants including myself losing a top five ranking. All in all, this was one of the more polarizing songs of of the album as it came in with the fourth highest standard deviation. This has long been one of my all-time favorite album tracks from Don't Rock the Jukebox and so I was quite disappointed to see it get pushed back at the last moment.

That leaves only one album track remaining as it goes up against the albums five hit singles. Will "From a Distance" be able to make it into the top five?!

Just another bar with loud guitars Smoke and candles burning low And the same ol' boys, their backs to the bar Staring across a crowded floor Then I hear a familiar sound, your voice laughing out loud
So I take a chair in a corner somewhere You can't see me, but I can look at you And I remember those times, when I looked in your eyes The way that he now looks at you Deep down I know it's over, but it hurts me when he's so much closer 6. “From a Distance” Track: #8 Songwriters: Alan Jackson, Randy Travis Total: 108 Average: 6.75 Std Dev: 2.41 (3rd Highest) {Songs Remaining}Dallas Don’t Rock the Jukebox Love’s Got a Hold on You Midnight in Montgomery Someday

Coming in as our third most polarizing song is "From a Distance" which is our final song to exit before the top five. This did manage to start out there thanks to Kanenrá:ke's initial ranking only to quickly get shot back to last place as it picked up its first of three last place rankings from George Strait Junkie (later joined by gardyfan and .indulgecountry). Five others joined Kanenrá:ke in the top five including a top two ranking from 🌺CountryLineDancer who becomes are second participant to lose their second favorite song. This song is a handful of ones that Alan Jackson and Randy Travis wrote together while they were on tour in 1991. Other songs that they penned together include "Forever Together", "Better Class of Losers", and "I'd Surrender All" of which Randy recorded. They also wrote "She's Got the Rhythm (And I Got the Blues)" together which Alan would record and release as the first single to his third studio album, A Lot About Livin' (And a Little 'bout Love), in 1992.

Figured all the singles would make it to the top 5, I love "Walkin' The Floor Over Me" and had been hopeful it could take out at least one single but it was a tall order as all these singles do seem to be well liked....(One is my #10 but I'm going to be an outlier on that.)

While I think From A Distance is definitely stronger than some single, happy that at least it has become the top of all the album tracks. Hoping top 3 will be Dallas, Don’t Rock the Jukebox, and Someday.

Phew! Slightly glad to be proven wrong as "From a Distance" was my favorite album track upon first listen. Unfortunately, "That's All I Need to Know" left a lot to be desired on my end and, despite giving the album quite a few listens, and it never grew on me much if at all. In other happenings, no surprise to see an all singles top five; let's see if there's a shake-up in the order of how the top five gets rolled out!

"Love's Got a Hold on You" is the first single from the album to bow out and along with it kw9461 becomes our first participant to lose their top-ranked song. While the majority of the group did place this in their top five, there were a few amongst the group who put this down in their bottom 3 including a questionable last place from Kanenrá:ke (really?!). Despite his best efforts, once this settled into the top five it remained there for the remainder of its run. This was released in July 1992 as the final single from the album and is also the only song that Jackson did not co-write on the album. It went on to become Alan's fifth #1 single.

On a side note, "Love's Got a Hold on You" used to be one of my favorite Alan songs in my childhood. I honestly just could never get enough of this song back then, but as time has passed I don't find myself enjoying it quite as much as I did as a young boy. It's still a fun listen though.

"Love's Got A Hold On You" makes sense to be the first single loss. It is catchy, but in a way that I can definitely see being annoying to some people. It also is not nearly as much of a career-defining hit as some of the other singles from this album were.
