^It should also be #2 in 2020 for US On-Demand Audio Streams, behind The Box.

Blinding lights would be nothing without airplay ?????????? not even close 7 out of the top 10 songs had more airplay than Blinding Lights, it's an even split between streaming and radio with good sales , what are you even talking about

Blinding lights would be nothing without airplay This week (01/16), Blinding Lights would still be in the top 30 with 0 airplay.

Blinding lights would be nothing without airplay #3 on iTunes #10 on Spotify #46 on Apple Music Yeah, safe to say it's still something even without airplay. The Grammy snub revitalised it. It jumped big the day after and then got added to 5th on tth the day after even though it wasn't even on the playlist anymore.

I don't see All time low ft. BB & Demi lovato charting on hot100, It's dismal streaming presence & stagnant radio plays made sure of that 😬

It remained consistent on streaming and sales throughout last year but it definitely got a huge boost after the Grammy snub.

I really don't get how some songs get an algorithm like Life is Good and how others don't. How does formula decide what to force down peoples throats lmao. Drake has never been that big on youtube and even though Life is Good was big, it wasn't as big as songs like blinding lights or many others that don't do as well on youtube

I was so sure that you're wrong because I Gotta Feeling charted two years, then I realised BBP was #1, and IGF was only #4 on the Year End chart. How was it #5 on the 2000-2009 Decade End Chart but only #4 for the 2009 Year End? Real chart points vs inverse point system? I don't know the actual points but I Gotta Feeling didn't start charting until June while Boom Boom Pow was charting since March, Poker Face was charting since January and Just Dance was charting since 2008. Also I Gotta Feeling had a longer run than those songs that stretched until 2010. Yes, but the cutoff date for both the 2009 and 2000s decade-end charts were the same, and were both released at the same time in December 2009, so inverse points vs. actual chart points explains the difference. IGAF's 14 weeks at #1 were weighed much more heavily on the inverse point-decade end list and were what put it over the top.

I'll be amused if Dynamite can eke out two more sales #1 weeks, thus putting it in the T3 for digital history with Despacito/Old Town Road.
Based on itunescharts, it hasn't topped itunes since its first two weeks.

Is there any new release that excites the chart? The 01/09 one looks so stale and stagnant. Serving U.S politics tea.
Also looking forward to Billboard announcing some new rules change. The mass buying needs to be addressed and the stream/sales/radio ratio really needs adjustments.

If artists could choose which videos got favored by YouTube's algorithm, they'd select every video they ever release. I may be wrong, but I also don't think the algorithm starts favoring any particular video as soon as it's released. (Don't take my word for it, but) I'm guessing that the algorithm takes into account how frequently a video gets clicked on, watched entirely and searched for and then tailors that into each user's experience accordingly so a video that eventually starts popping up frequently in recommendations would have to do really well on it's own first (somewhat similar to how playlisting on streaming services works where how high a song ranks long-term is determined by how consistently it pulls in streams organically).

Winston's early preds so far #1 Mood #2 positions #3 Blinding Lights #4 Holy #7 Levitating #11 Anyone "Blinding Lights" holding up at #3 and "Levitating" nearly matching "New Rules" ' peak? 🤯 Of course, things are definitely going to change over the course of the week, but that's great news so far.

One week it's the grammys, then it's spotify wrapped, then a pause for christmas, then radio is spamming the top year-end songs including BL and people themselves are streams the year's biggets hits at NYE parties, so here comes a bit boost for the biggest song of the year, so here we are at BL at #3... now we have the Super Bowl and GRAMMYs to go...

Yeah, this seems to me to be how the algorithm works. Another thing is that the algorithm is constantly being tweaked (if you use YouTube every day, it's very noticeable when they change it). Also, in theory it's supposed to be behave differently for every user, IP address and device, if we all went on the Blinding Lights video I think we should all get different results. There was a time, 5+ years ago, where the algorithm was more constant across everybody, and you would see it actually effect the charts. Like whatever songs it would choose to come after the Chainsmokers - Closer lyric video you could expect to get a small boost in the Hot 100.

The mass buying needs to be addressed and the stream/sales/radio ratio really needs adjustments. Morgan Wallen is releasing a 30-track double album on Friday. I don’t expect every song from it to chart, but given his streaming presence, I think he’ll do some damage to the top 50. And I agree that I’m hoping to see a rule change or two from Billboard soon as well. It’s the main reason I’ve been following the Rolling Stone charts more closely in recent days.
