Bieber has the only real high-profile release today. I guess Lauv and Foo Fighters too, but I don't expect either to chart. I thought I heard that Don Toliver would release something today, but I guess that didn't happen.
Anyways, Happy New Year, Pulse! Can't wait to see what 2021 has in store for music.

How many times have we said "this is crap and it's gonna flop" just for Scooter to turn the song into a hit?
Save for the offensively awful "Yummy" all the Bieber tracks from the last year have been hits, so don't count the new one out, even if it's bad.

Anyone is definitely one of the better Bieber singles lately. Still three top 20 airplay hits at the same time (or perhaps top ten even) is too much, so either Holy or LOnely MUST be sacrificed for Anyone. If it doesn't happen, I have lost my faith in radio for ever.

I'd think website sales are subject to the same audit/checking that sales through other outlets are- they're not any less legit. So, I also think those wishing they'll no longer count toward sales is wishful thinking. But, we'll see.

And like with the bundles, I think Billboard would announce the change ahead of time before it goes into effect so that the labels and artists' teams can plan ahead. This isn't like UGC where cutting that off really only affected the viral hits that don't get the same type of promotion. This would affect the massive artists at the top of the food chain and the stan armies driving their sales success. |
