PS: I went back to "traitor", which is probably my favorite song from her now, to see if I can hear the heater background noise and I'm blown away. It's really noticeable right when the first pair of lyrics ('I played dumb but I always knew') ends.

Why does it feel like this era is already dead? Vampire was a big hit but not an event single like DL or G4U, and the next singles are sort of just floundering in the mid range of the charts but not making much noise. Guts is probably a better album than Sour, but it feels like a non event in comparison. JMO

they probably wanted bad idea right? to be the promo song and get him back as the 2nd single, and I guess people really liked BIR, but they still didn't do anything about it? maybe they expected GHB to explode during the album release week and send that to radio, but it didn't happen, so.....yeah, instead of 2 potential active singles, now we don't have any? I'm so confused because I've been really busy lately, maybe I'm missing something, is there an official 2nd single? or?

They seem to be switching full-on to get him back! now (1000+ gains in the latest pop update, at #23), so it could potentially go somewhere.

Her label & her team fumbled with this era. It’s crazy how there’s no active single right now, and the one song that’s consistently growing on Pop is nowhere to be found on Today’s Top Hits despite the fact that it’d been streaming well.

Then again, I listened to her first album non-stop (and Deja Vu was my #1 most played Spotify song for that year) and I've barely given this album any spins at all, so I guess I should just ask myself lol.

Yeah this era is definitely a huge step down in terms of hype, visibility, success etc. Luckily she still delivered a great album so that's fantastic. I still think they made the wrong choice with "Vampire" (pretty much anything she released would've went to #1, but I think a different choice could've served the era better overall). They should've went all in or nothing with "Bad Idea Right", not split between two competing songs but oh well.

Yeah I feel like after the first era releasing Vampire as the lead felt like the safest choice to them, which made the GP expect another ballad-heavy album like Sour which GUTS just wasn't
I agree they should have went with something more punky like 'bad idea right?', 'get him back!' or probably 'love is embarassing' which I feel would have been a bigger risk but the best representation of what's about to come in terms of attitude and sound
But yeah ever since Vampire was announced I was certain it would be another slower song which I feel like was the wrong choice when this whole era was set up to be more edgy and mature
For her next album she should choose a riskier lead single which represents the album better

Vampire is not a slow ballad though. It starts off slow, but picks up halfway through into a more uptempo, pop rock jam, so to me it's a fair representation of what could be expected from the album, and was probably the best choice as to a first single.

Her song from the new Hunger Games movie, Can't Catch Me Now, is out this Friday. Judging by this trailer, it sounds pretty good! (and quite different from anything she's done so far)

Also, Vampire did better than the other two singles, and I know it had the benefit of being the first single but it hit #1 in July and then again in September which points to longevity. The following rock-oriented singles seem to be non-events. Alt/Pop-Rock is still dead, it seems.

I think they might be re-strategizing after Get Him Back didn't instantly blow up. It will definitely end up a hit, but I'm not sure it will grow into the type of hit they want for someone like Olivia though. Wonder what the 3rd (or 4th?) single conversations are looking like.
I know Get Him Back is the better song, but for some reason I keep returning to Vampire and Bad Idea Right over it lol.

Can't Catch Me Now is holding on pretty well. Up 63-59 on the Hot 100 this week, and would be at a new peak inside the top 50 without the Christmas songs. And not due to a boost from the movie, since that's already been out a couple weeks, and still not an official radio single. This can only mean good news for her!!

I was wondering why she was out there doing so much promo all of a sudden, then I realized Grammy voting starts Dec. 14th. Gotta respect the hustle.

She should really focus on pushing “Can’t Catch Me Now” in January. Some airplay and a higher placement on Today’s Top Hits could really let it flourish. It’s already a Top 10 hit in the UK and Ireland.

Then, when she starts her tour in March, she can release the deluxe edition of GUTS and push another single or two from there to really maximise the streaming boost it’ll get from her touring.

I'm kinda ready for another album tbh lol. I know, I know. This one just didn't grab me at all. Probably my biggest dissappointment of 2023 in terms of music, not because I didn't like it whatsoever (it's good on it's own) but after SOUR it felt very been there done that.

I still greatly prefer this to SOUR, hope Pretty Isn't Pretty & Love Is Embarrassing get their moments to shine as a single in the future but with the rollout being a mess I'm not gonna hold my breath.
