"good 4 u" has life to it. I kind-of understand the appeal of "drivers license" and more-so "deja vu", but they did nothing for me musically. This gets in your head, has that genuine anger captured lyrically ("It's like we never even happened, baby, what the f**k, is up, with that?" YESSSSSSS), and the video is incredible. Smash please.

I’m really loving Olivia she has put out so far. All of her songs get stuck in my head. Great writing, great vocals, and she seems pretty grounded too. “Good for u” has a great energy to. It’s awesome she’s able to make this kind of sound work in 2021. I’ve seen some comment that all her songs are about the same thing, but I think they are exploring different sides of the same incidents which I don’t think is a bad thing, and sonically they are quite diverse. Very excited for her album and just to see how her career evolves!

"Good For You" sounds like and reminds me so much of "Misery Business" by Paramore. When the song is on I am almost always simultaneously singing "woooooooaaahh I never meant to braaag" lol

Olivia is going to be part of YouTube's Released tomorrow before the album is out in the US. Also, there's going to be an exclusive performance of "enough for you".

Album preview: music.apple.com/nz/album/sour/1560735414Going by the snippets, it looks like she and her team did a good job picking the singles so far. Brutal sticks out the most for me from the previews.

Excited for this.
“1 step forward, 3 steps back” samples New Year’s Day by Taylor Swift. So TS and Jack Antonoff are listed as co-writers.

Its a very well-written album. Lots of memorable lines, and her vocals are lovely.
Needed more bops, though. It's 95% slow songs. I imagine she'll release one more single and then start working on album #2.

I imagine she'll release one more single and then start working on album #2. I definitely think "good 4 u" will carry her thru the summer + maybe one more single, but I wouldn't be surprised if they've held some really strong songs back for a one-off in the fall. It's a great debut & strong artistic statement though :)

The album is now available where I'm at. "enough for you" is the new song getting playlisted in our local Spotify playlists (Hot Hits PH, New Music Friday PH, etc)

Not a bad album at all!

The label couldn’t have known beforehand, but in retrospect I wish they went with good 4 u as the second single, and deja vu as the third. good 4 is so instant but I think it’ll have a high burn rate, while deja vu could have lasted through the Summer and been a song of the summer. Regardless I’m loving the album!

My favorites (besides the singles) on first listen are Traitor and Happier. I need some more time with the other songs. This album will be on repeat though, so I'm sure the other songs will grow on me.

It's a solid debut album. I feel like it was a bit too heavy on slower songs (the thing is there wasn't a ton of variety sonically within those songs imo) but the lyrics were well-written and showcases her strength as an artist. Definitely an album that makes me want to check out what she has to offer next, whenever that comes around. Of the tracks that we hadn't heard prior to the release of the album "brutal", "jealousy, jealousy", "favorite crime", and "hope ur ok" are my favorites.

It's a nice album. Traitor is a standout for me.
I think it's obvious this will be a massive commercial success.

Thinking "Jealousy, Jealousy" is their best bet for single four.

I want to listen to all the songs some more but I always get stuck on "jealousy, jealousy", that whole song is magical, I love its structure and the melodies and lyrics are great, that chorus is addicting and the bridge has attitude, it should definitely be a single at some point, sorry for my outrage but isn't it obvious this is a future pop classic a la "Into You" or "Run Away With Me" She could easily go some more singles deep with proper promotion There was nothing I disliked and I definitely love most of the lyrical choices on here and I gotta say I prefer "1 step forward, 3 steps back" to "New Year's Day" :kii: "good 4 u" also really worked for me in the context of the album which I initially didn't like too much, like basically in any song on this the bridge is fantastic Honestly I think a lot of the songs will become viral on TikTok at some point, her lyrics are so on the point She really delivered! It might be a bit early to talk about but do you think she might get any Grammy nominations this year considering how they usually work?

Does she have a known team of writers? Does she have any writing credits?

It's alright, maybe better than I expected. It's veeeeery derivative, sometimes to the point of distraction. There's something here though. I wonder if they'll get her recording album two sooner rather than later.

Does she have a known team of writers? Does she have any writing credits? She's the main writer of the whole album. There's a couple of songs she wrote by herself, and the rest her cowriter is Dan Nigro. Taylor Swift and Jack Antonoff are also credited on "1 step forward, 3 steps back" cause it samples Taylor's New Year's Day.

There's promise here but I'm probably not going to revisit this. I agree, it's very derivative, kind of like she's playing dress up in other people's clothes. But she's super young and it's clear she hasn't found her own musical identity yet. The fact that she manages some solid tunes is a good sign. Either way, she's latched onto a moment, this is going to be big.

More out of curiosity I gave the album a listen this morning. It sounds nice, but I found the topic a bit repetitive throughout of the album, you know the girl sad or upset about her ex. I found it so geared toward teenage angst and broken-heart teenage girl that if I it was all prefabricated by a team of people in their 40s or 50s would've lost authenticity in my eyes. Good to know she was involved.

"brutal" is a great lite Joan Jett throwback. Probably too "rock" to be a single though.
"traitor" should definitely be the next single. Another smash in waiting, IMHO. Vocally, it actually reminds me of Kacy Musgraves more than anyone else.

"traitor" is definitely my favorite of the new songs. I agree, it's a smash waiting to happen.
