Well, I suppose we had to return to these slow weeks before long... docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jSdctFcLyQl6HJYoi9Jr2OHFGkn-TBnxWVFNxMlzrto/edit?usp=sharing- The only piece of real movement news related to my spreadsheet is on the Excl. US chart, where Loreen's Eurovision 2023 champion "Tattoo" gets a bit of a boost from the semifinals being in last week's tracking period. It re-enters the chart high enough to beat Avicii for highest Swedish song on that chart. - Annnnd that's it. Quietest week ever. Every other song remains ruling the country it ruled last week. So here're some other fun facts to make up for that: Speaking of Eurovision, Finland's current best chart presence is "Dark Side" by Blind Channel charting in the lower half of the Excl. US chart because of their decent 6th place finish in that year's Eurovision. Sweden has a much more flamboyant record, with "Moth to a Flame" by Swedish House Mafia getting all the way to the top ten of the main chart and close enough to that region to sniff it on the Excl. US chart, also in 2021. Those two records are in great peril this coming week. Somehow, all this time later, "Snap" by Rosa Linn is still charting in the middle of both charts, which also somehow won't be the first time songs from two different Eurovision seasons will be charting at the same time. In funnier news, The UK and Australia are going through some major dearths in chart presence. "As It Was"-osaurus has been Great Britain's highest chart placement for the last month, which is charting respectably in the top twenty of both but still too old to be Hot anymore. As for Australia, their highest song on the Global 200 is "OMG" by NewJeans, which only counts for Australia because of one member AND has been below the top fifty for a couple of weeks now.

Eurovision week! One of the best weeks every year for this spreadsheet, and this year certainly does not disappoint. Lots of new records are smashed on this Global 200 update! docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jSdctFcLyQl6HJYoi9Jr2OHFGkn-TBnxWVFNxMlzrto/edit?usp=sharing- Let's start with a brand new country, our first of two this week. In the case of Finland, the somewhat Nordic country has charted once before with their 2021 Eurovision entry, "Dark Side" by Blind Channel. It got to #105 on the Excl. US chart that week, but the song that debuts this week utterly smashes that measly record. With the streaming support that the fan-favorite song was always sure to nab, "Cha Cha Cha" by Käärijä debuts at a great #27 on the main chart, bringing Finland there for the first time ever, and they achieve an even better #13 on the Excl. US chart. Not bad for a song sung entirely in such a small language. - The other new country debut is a little more modest, but still quite exciting. Confined only to the Excl. US chart this week is the funny little place known as Israel, which makes its global charts debut at #153 because of the success of their Eurovision entry this year, "Unicorn" by Noa Kirel. This one actually finished third place in the contest this year. - And we finish off the main news section with the biggest news of all: Sweden was crowned 2023's Eurovision Song Contest champion. "Tattoo" by Loreen picked up some historic numbers from national judges and still saved enough room for a big gulp of public votes, enough to even make up for Finland's record-breaking public numbers. It was clearly big news for the entire event, and it was building up actual streaming momentum for all of it. With its championship, it just barely misses out on getting a new peak for Sweden on the main chart, but it easily clears Swedish House Mafia's old peak of #12 with "Moth to a Flame" by debuting way up at #7, the first Swedish top ten hit on that chart. - Before it gets lost in the fold, shoutout to South Korea. After a ton of #1s in the first year of the chart's existence, big hits from that country have become rare recently. However, Fifty Fifty's "Cupid" makes it to the top of the Excl. US chart this week, adding another long due notch in Korea's belt. And now the rest of the May 27th specifics. • In more Eurovision news, the fourth-place finisher actually debuts respectably on the global charts. Alessandra, representing Norway in the contest but representing both Norway and Italy on my chart, makes sure that her song "Queen of Kings" brings Italy back onto the charts and replaces legacy hit "Take On Me" (which has been rising a lot lately) to be the biggest Norwegian song this week. • Shakira pulls off another self-replacement. This time, the Colombian world leader shifts from her Karol G collab to her new collab with her two children. • Chinese member Ningning of Aespa allows "Spicy" to take the Chinese crown from "Super" by Seventeen this week. • (G)I-dle returns to the charts with their new single. This means Thai member Minnie can once again take the crown for Thailand back from Blackpink's Lisa and Taiwanese member Shuhua can bring Taiwan back onto the charts.

The Eurovison excitement doesn't last, and we're back with one of the slowest weeks of Global 200 news ever. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jSdctFcLyQl6HJYoi9Jr2OHFGkn-TBnxWVFNxMlzrto/edit?usp=sharing- Bad Bunny debuts right at the top of the charts, something Un Verano Sin Ti somehow failed to do. In any case, it means that with "Where She Goes" he replaces Eslabon Armado on both charts to become the highest charting American of the week, and he replaces himself to keep being the highest charting Puerto Rican. - "Queencard" by (G)I-dle sees a huge boost on its first full tracking week, enough for Chinese member Yuqi to smash through "Spicy" by Aespa's ranking and take the Chinese crown from their Chinese member, Ningning. It even gets just one spot away from tying the all-time Chinese record recently set by Seventeen. - "Queen of Kings" couldn't hold on very high without the Eurovision boost, so Alessandra loses Norway to A-ha once again. She does get to keep Italy this week, though.

East Asia. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jSdctFcLyQl6HJYoi9Jr2OHFGkn-TBnxWVFNxMlzrto/edit?usp=sharing- Who expected this country to get a #1 so soon? It was always bound to happen, but this is quite sudden. On the Excl. US chart, Japan tops the chart for the very first time. Spurred on by an English-language release, "Idol" by Yoasobi jumps above the competition to cinch the title, bringing Japan into the elite group of nations with songs that ruled the world. This takes down a long-standing tie for Japan at #2 between LiSA's other anime theme "Homura" (a peak set almost three years ago!) and "Glimpse of Us" by Joji. On the main chart, with zero American support, "Idol" still only hangs on in the top ten, but clearly it's still rising. - And a next-door neighbor gets to experience a bit of a new peak, too! This week, "Queencard" by (G)I-dle rises up to #35 on the main chart. This just barely beats the #37 peak of "Super" by Seventeen that was set recently. Considering Yuqi of (G)I-dle is Chinese, this means she's overcome Jun and The8 of SVT to claim the title of highest Chinese artist to ever grace the global chart. On the Excl. US chart, "Queencard" actually just happens to tie "Super" for a joint Chinese peak of #18. - Now for some June 10th specifics. • Australia is experiencing such a drought of hit songs that the Australian crown returns to "Stay" by the Kid Laroi this week. • India makes a return to the Excl. Us chart, this time with "Phir Aur Kya Chahiye" another Bollywood theme song by Arijit Singh.

Out of nowhere we got one of the most newsworthy weeks for the Global 200 in months! docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jSdctFcLyQl6HJYoi9Jr2OHFGkn-TBnxWVFNxMlzrto/edit?usp=sharing- The big big news is the new #1. Not so new, as this country already hit the top of the main chart some weeks ago, but this week becomes Mexico's first stint at #1 on the Excl. US chart! It also shows Peso Pluma's dominance over the current Regional Mexican conversation. Before this week, Mexico's Excl. US peak was a tie at #2, with the "La Bebe" remix and "Ella Baila Sola" holding those positions. Both of those, of course, include Peso Pluma, as does the record breaker this week. - This also means some news for Argentina, as "Peso Pluma: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 55" is obviously a part of Bizarrap's series of collabs. That makes this the second Argentine chart-topper, following up on last year's Quevedo collab and breakout hit for Biza. Once again, this is only on the Excl. US chart. - China gets some continued news from last week. (G)I-dle's "Queencard" continues a quick rise up the charts, and the fact that Chinese member Yuqi is a part of it means that it continues to set new records for China. Both the song and the nation jump from #35 to #21 on the main chart. On the Excl. US chart, the tie with SVT's "Super" for Chinese peak is broken as "Queencard" jumps from #18 to #12. - And now the June 17th specifics. • The UK finally breaks through its drought of hits! A certain default lingering hit by Harry Styles is overcome by a high debut for "Sprinter" from British rappers Dave and Central Cee, reinvigorating the British presence on the global charts. • Less exciting is the end of Australia's drought. The land down under finally returns to the top fifty, but only because two members of Stray Kids, Bang Chan and Felix, happen to be Australian, and the big single from their new album debuts high. • Brazil also switches leaders this week. The long-running crown-wearer, "Nosso Quadro" by Ana Castela, is thrown out by a super high debut for Brazilian standards from "Tá OK" by Dennis and MC Kevin o Chris. • The debut of "Pişman Değilim" by Semicenk featuring Doğu Swag puts Turkey back on the charts (both of them for once!) for the first time in a while. • On that note, Beam and Toian put Jamaica back on the charts with a feature on one of the new Spider-Verse soundtrack debuts. • And finally, another big return in India! The Bollywood hit "Phir Aur Kya Chahiye" that debuted on the Excl. US chart last week crosses over to the main chart due to some strong growth.

Not a whole ton of movement on the global charts this week, but a new #1 is always exciting. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jSdctFcLyQl6HJYoi9Jr2OHFGkn-TBnxWVFNxMlzrto/edit?usp=sharing- This week, the new #1 gives Korea more to brag about, especially in 2023 when they've been killing it with new global chart toppers in general. In this case, it's the temporary return of BTS through "Take Two" that debuts right at the top on both charts and takes the weekly Korean crown from Fifty Fifty. - After that, just some June 24th specifics. • "Tere Vaaste" replaces "Phir Aur Kya Chahiye" for India's top spot on both charts, with both being from the same Bollywood soundtrack. • The Dominican Republic, which used to be on the Global 200 near constantly, makes a rare appearance now as an el Alfa song with Peso Pluma debuts low on the main chart.

Nothing novel in this week of Global 200 updates, so let's just hop right into it. July 1st specifics only! docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jSdctFcLyQl6HJYoi9Jr2OHFGkn-TBnxWVFNxMlzrto/edit?usp=sharing- Colombia has a new leader this week. The very long reign of "TQG" by major Colombian tag team Shakira and Karol G has finally been demolished. After months of climbing, "Classy 101" by Colombian singer Feid (aided by the Puerto Rican Young Miko) has leapt above "TQG" on both charts. - Australia is still having a rough time. Because of Stray Kids dropping low, the Kid Laroi (on the main chart) and NewJeans (on the Excl. US chart) retake the Australian crown with some very old hits. - Speaking of retaking the crown, "Take Two" by BTS collapses, putting Fifty Fifty right back on the top for Korea.

This week on the Global 200, Barbie. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jSdctFcLyQl6HJYoi9Jr2OHFGkn-TBnxWVFNxMlzrto/edit?usp=sharing- Courtesy of the Barbie movie, we have a couple of new national peaks! Let's start with Denmark. The inevitable appearance of "Barbie Girl" by Aqua on the soundtrack has finally happened thanks to "Barbie World" by Nicki Minaj (also inevitable) and Ice Spice. However, Aqua is actually fully credited on the drill track that samples them. Since it debuted at #12 on the main Global 200, the three Danish members of the band (René Dif, Søren Rasted, and Claus Norreen) get to claim a new all-time peak for Denmark! They take this record from Lars Ulrich of Metallica, whose "Master of Puppets" previously held the best rank for Denmark at #20 due to its Stranger Things appearance. All of this only counts for the main chart, as "Barbie World" debuted much lower on the Excl. US chart, so Metallica still holds there. - But that's not all! Aqua has a fourth member, the seminal singer on "Barbie Girl" who hails from Norway instead of Denmark. Her name is Lene Nystrøm, and she's nabbed the record from fellow Norwegian singer Aurora, whose old revived track "Runaway" made it to #22 a couple years ago. Once again, Aurora's title hasn't changed on the Excl. US chart. - Now for the normal July 8th specifics. • One last piece of "Barbie World" news is that Nicki Minaj, obviously, replaces herself for Trinidadian leader on the global charts. • British news is filled with dinosaurs. "As It Was" has reclaimed the title of highest overall UK song on this week's chart, and a big general Lewis Capaldi boost has put his "Someone You Loved" over Calvin Harris's much newer track to represent Scotland on the charts. • In that same vein, Pnau leads Australia for the first time in almost a year because the dearth of Australian hits has put "Cold Heart" back on top for down under once more.

Even with a #1 and a big album bomb, there isn't much news for individual countries on this spreadsheet. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jSdctFcLyQl6HJYoi9Jr2OHFGkn-TBnxWVFNxMlzrto/edit?usp=sharing- The main piece of news has to do with the Global 200's least exciting nation: the USA. American Olivia Rodrigo has debuted right at the top of both charts, again, giving the Americans another belt notch. To think there was a big drought of American hits about a year ago. - And now the July 15th specific news. • Trinidad and Tobago gets a new song to represent it, as Nicki Minaj's "Endless Fashion" with Lil Uzi Very debuts above the Barbie collab from last week. • Venezuela makes a longtime return to the charts! This time it's even through a new artist, Arca. She's a feature on "Pasiempre" which is the second debut from Tainy's new album. There hasn't been Venezuelan representation here since Danny Ocean's big 2022 hit. • Turkey also returns through the chart, though it hasn't been that long for them. Notably, "Ali Cabbar" by Emir Can İğrek is a singer-songwriter song instead of the usual hip-hip faire that Turkey sends to the global charts.

For an album bomb week, there's a lot of movement in this round of Global 200 news! docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jSdctFcLyQl6HJYoi9Jr2OHFGkn-TBnxWVFNxMlzrto/edit?usp=sharing- The frame of an album bomb by an American, we have a new #1 by an American... on the Excl. US chart and not by the person with the album bomb. "Lala" by Myke Towers zips right to the peak of the Excl. US chart this week, deftly sliding right past Bad Bunny and Olivia Rodrigo to snatch a new chart-topping song for both the USA and its lil territory Puerto Rico. - And now for a bunch of July 22th specific news. • NewJeans have a smash new single which debuts at #2 on both global charts. The majority Korean members of the band make it so NewJeans hops right over Fifty Fifty to lead Korea for the week, and Australian member Hanni makes it so the Australian hit slump is finally over! She's now much higher than Pnau this week. • The UK is also trying its best to finally have a strong global hit again, as "Sprinter" by Dave and Central Cee moves up slightly to once again overtake Harry Styles and his dinosaur for British leader. • The "La Bebe" remix has been holding strong as Mexican leader on the Excl. US chart for a while now, but "Ella Baila Sola" has been hogging the spot on the main chart. This week, the latter falls hard, so Yng Lvcas finally has a grip on both Mexican crowns. • A respectable debut for Quevedo's new single places him squarely above Rosalía to rule Spain for the week.

Who wants a two day late update on Global 200 stats? docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jSdctFcLyQl6HJYoi9Jr2OHFGkn-TBnxWVFNxMlzrto/edit?usp=sharing- The same song gives two countries new chart-toppers. The first is, of course, South Korea, where Jungkook is the second BTS member to peak at #1 on the Global 200 separate from BTS. "Seven" debuts right at the top, and it consequently means Jungkook also takes the title of Korean leader this week away from NewJeans's big debut last week. - The other country that benefits from "Seven" is the United States, whose representative Latto adds another chart-topper to their records by being featured. Olivia Rodrigo and Myke Towers need to take a backseat as far as highest Americans on the chart go, but there is a certain other American who was blocked from the title this week who I'm sure you all are more relieved about. - Somehow there's only one other piece of July 29th specific news when this is usually the busiest section. • Turkey gets a rare moment of having a song replace another for leader on the charts, rather than one dropping out and waiting a couple months for the next. This time it's "Aman Güzel Yavaş Yürü" by Halodayı and Azer Bülbül rising high enough to debut on the main chart. That second name is actually a Turkish folk singer being credited posthumously for a take on one of his old hits.

This Barbie is topping the charts. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jSdctFcLyQl6HJYoi9Jr2OHFGkn-TBnxWVFNxMlzrto/edit?usp=sharing- The Barbie movie is smashing the records on my spreadsheet because of just one internationally-packed song. "Barbie World" with Trinidadian Nicki Minaj and Danish-Norwegian band Aqua (also an American is there) has catapulted up both global charts due to the movie's smashing success. Taking this one step at a time, let's start with the originators of all this: Aqua. Most of the band, including Ken, is Norwegian. On the main chart, "Barbie World" surpasses its previous peak at #12 to hit #6, bringing Norway's all-time peak to that same spot. Meanwhile, since this is the first week when the song really catches on worldwide, Norway accomplishes now what it did two weeks ago on the main chart. The song rises to #12 on the Excl. US chart, easily passing the previous Norwegian peak of #19 by "Runaway" by Aurora on that chart. - Obviously, this holds true for Denmark, too, as Barbie from the original one hit wonder is a Danish singer. Denmark's record moves from #12 to #6 on the main chart, and on the Excl. US chart, a dash to #12 means Lars Ulrich of Metallica has been usurped for Danish record-holder there. - Trinidad and Tobago gets in on this, too! While Nicki Minaj's record on the main chart barely holds, she replaces herself for all-time Trinidadian peak on the Excl. US chart. The new #12 peak for "Barbie World" is just above "Super Freaky Girl" and its #16 peak from last year. - And now for some August 5th news. • Another piece of Barbie news is that Dua Lipa's contribution to the soundtrack has put her in the lead for British artists on the global charts, shoving Dave and Central Cee out of the way. • There's finally a new top song for Canada, or at least that's what the Weeknd's appearance on "K-pop" counts as. • The unfortunate passing of Sinéad O'Connor means she replaces Hozier for Ireland's crown this week.

Merry Travis Scott week; there isn't much news. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jSdctFcLyQl6HJYoi9Jr2OHFGkn-TBnxWVFNxMlzrto/edit?usp=sharing- There is actually one big piece of significant news, and that's a continuation from last week. On only the Excl. US chart, Norway, Denmark, and Trinidad and Tobago zip up from their old peaks of #12 to new peaks of #6. This is, of course, due to the continued gains of "Barbie World" from the Barbie movie soundtrack, but it means there is now Danish, Norwegian, and Trinidadian representation in the top ten of that chart for the first time ever. - Now the August 12th news. • Sweden gets some new representation this week. Loreen has been hanging on for a while after the Eurovision win, but with the smash Utopia debut, Yung Lean's featuring on "Parasail" places him on top for the Swedish crown this week. Would you believe this is actually his second time holding that spot? • Speaking of Utopia, "Meltdown" replaces "K-pop" for Canadian representation on the charts by Drake debuting over the Weeknd. • The Dominican Republic is back on the charts after quite the long absence! Tokishca features on "Chulo Pt. 2" by Bad Gyal, which debuts low on both charts this week. (And Billboard inexplicably writes it as Chulopt2)

Very very little news from this week on the global charts, so let's just get to the couple of August 19th specific headlines. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jSdctFcLyQl6HJYoi9Jr2OHFGkn-TBnxWVFNxMlzrto/edit?usp=sharing• The big news is the boost for "Tá OK" after its remix with Maluma and Karol G. Not only does it give Brazil its highest rank since Anitta, on the Excl. US chart, it even takes over "Classy 101" for highest Colombian song because of those guests on the remix. • Two small-lived songs drop out and return to normal: Loreen takes the Swedish crown back from Yung Lean and Hozier takes the Irish crown back from Sinéad O'Connor.

Chart-related discourse this week was taken up by... other stuff, so it's fitting that there's no major news on the Global 200 other than some August 26th-specific South American shuffles. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jSdctFcLyQl6HJYoi9Jr2OHFGkn-TBnxWVFNxMlzrto/edit?usp=sharing• Karol G's new mixtape made some waves, really showing how much of a chart presence she's become. Its main single "Mi Ex Tenía Razón" debuts well above "Classy 101" by Feid to become the biggest Colombian song of the week, ending a surprisingly long absence ofr Colombia in the top twenty. • Speaking of Colombia, the Colombian remix of "Tá OK" evaporated instantly. Billboard still credits Karol G and Maluma for some reason, but the big hit returns to being really represented by the purely Brazilian duo of Dennis and MC Kevin O Chris. • Chile makes a long-coming return to the charts through a familiar face. "Una Noche en Medellín" by Cris MJ was the song that started Chile's stint of constant Global 200 presence last year, and now its back through a remix off that Karol G mixtape. Yep, she's related to every piece of news this week. For some reason, Billboard counts this as a new entry rather than just continuing the chart run of the original song, but that doesn't matter for my spreadsheet. Cris MJ is still credited and that makes this Chile's song.

Had one of the busiest weeks of my life last week, so the Sep. 2 Global 200 update is just gonna be summarized here. Luckily, there was only week-specific news last frame. • The rise of "Qlona" causes Karol G and Peso Pluma to both replace themselves for highest Colombian and Mexican artists on the chart, respectively. • Utopia's hype fades slowly, allowing the Weeknd's old hit "Die for You" to retake Canada from Drake's "Meltdown" feature. • India once returns to the charts, but this time with AP Dhillon's new single "With You" and not a Bollywood soundtrack. • Armenia had a very, very respectable run for a country that doesn't usually break into the western sphere, but "Snap" finally departs the main chart this week, bringing the streak to an end. • Speaking of Eurovision, Italy gets a rare non-ESC related charting hit, with the aptly-named "Italodisco" by the Kolors debuting low on the Excl. US chart. Yet somehow, there is even less Sep. 9 news... docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jSdctFcLyQl6HJYoi9Jr2OHFGkn-TBnxWVFNxMlzrto/edit?usp=sharing• With the debut of soundtrack single "The Girls" (also what the hell is Blackpink: The Game?) Lisa of Blackpink hops right over Minnie of (G)I-dle to once again wear the Thailand crown this week. • "Heerite" by Jasleen Royal and Arijit Singh replaces "With You" by AP Dhillon for India's highest track on the charts.

Another slow week for the Global 200. Hopefully at least one exciting thing happens before the imminent Christmas freeze. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jSdctFcLyQl6HJYoi9Jr2OHFGkn-TBnxWVFNxMlzrto/edit?usp=sharing- There's a new #1 on the main chart! By vaulting over Latto's K-pop feature, "Paint the Town Red" by Doja Cat gives the United States a self-replacement at the top, which is rare even for Americans on this chart. The Excl. US chart avoids this little piece of news, which is in character. That's a whole 23 chart-toppers for the states now. - And now the September 16th specific news. • Yoasobi's absolutely unprecedented run as Japanese leaders is finally disturbed. King Gnu's new single "Specialz" debuts far above where "Idol" has slowly fallen to this week. It is, in fact, another anime theme song. That industry and Bollywood are really doing work on this chart. • Italy gets another entry on the global charts, this time from a very familiar faces. "Honey (Are U Coming?)" by Måneskin debuts in the lower half of both charts.

This week on Global 200 updates, we actually have a lot of activity for once! All thanks to Africa. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jSdctFcLyQl6HJYoi9Jr2OHFGkn-TBnxWVFNxMlzrto/edit?usp=sharing- A new country charts! Though only on the main Global 200, "Another One of Me" off Diddy's new album features server favorite, French Montana, who was raised in Morocco until his teens. With its debut at #168, Morocco is officially a globally-charting nation. - As always, I want to highlight any new #1s, though this one's not exactly new. "Paint the Town Red" by Doja Cat finally reaches the top of the Excl. US chart this week, giving the United States another notch in that aptly-titled belt. - The September 30th specific news is also exciting. And Africa is involved, too. • "Water" by South African singer Tyla debuts in the lower half of both charts based off some viral TikTok swell. This puts South Africa back on the charts for the first time since last year's "Waka Waka" revival for the World Cup, and it's the first new South African song to chart since "Jersualema" all the way back in 2020! • South African-born but British-raised Kenya Grace has an even bigger TikTok smash on her hands, and it allows her to take the title of biggest Brit in the world from Dua Lipa, but only on the Excl. US chart. • Thanks to Anitta's feature on TXT's new single, "Tá OK" by Dennis and MC Kevin O Chris is finally dethroned for biggest song from Brazil this week> • Canada gets shaken up this week. For a few weeks now, evergreen hit "Die for You" by the Weeknd was representing the great white north, but it gets two replacements this week. On the main chart, "Slime You Out" by fellow Torontonian Drake debuts above it. On the Excl. US chart, it's instead "Greedy" by prairie-dweller Tate McRae which debuts higher. • Speaking of evergreen hits, "I'm Good (Blue)" falters hard, allowing Daft Punk on "Starboy" to take France from David Guetta on both charts. (Also, shoutout to Halley's Comet by Fellow Fellow. It doesn't get to count for the spreadsheet because of (G)I-dle's Minnie, but it's cool to see a fully Thai band sing a song fully in the Thai language and chart.)

mmmm back to little news on the Global 200. I only have a few Octover 7th specifics to report. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jSdctFcLyQl6HJYoi9Jr2OHFGkn-TBnxWVFNxMlzrto/edit?usp=sharing• Canada is now fully under control of Tate McRae as "Greedy" rises over "Slime You Out" even on the main chart. • The UK is now fully under control of Kenya Grace as "Strangers" rises over "Dance the Night" even on the main chart. • After being above the Bizarrap x Peso Pluma collab on the Excl. US chart for months now, "Los del Espacio" by Los del Espacio finally becomes the biggest Argentine song on the main chart for the first time ever. It accomplishes this by having Bzrp 55 fall off the chart entirely. • Iceland shows up for the first time in a non-Eurovision context! This time, it's for the resurgence of an old hit, "Way Down We Go" by blues rock band Kaleo. Becuase they have blues rock bands in Iceland, apparently. This is only on the Excl. US chart for now, though. • Turkey is also back, and once again through an old singer rather than a rapper. "Basit Numaralar" by Zerrin Özer debuts low on the Excl. US chart.

Decent week of news on the global charts! docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jSdctFcLyQl6HJYoi9Jr2OHFGkn-TBnxWVFNxMlzrto/edit?usp=sharing- We have a very rare occurrence today, a tie! Not just a tie, but a tie at a pretty low number. Two South African songs have now peaked at #38 on the Global 200. "Jersualema" by Master KG and Nomcebo Zikode was a hit during the chart's debut era, spurred into the top fifty by a Burna Boy remix. This week, three years later, it has finally met its match. "Water" by Tyla is still taking off on TikTok, and it's posting huge rises that let it chart at #38 this week. It's looking like it'll have sole ownership of the crown very soon, but for now, it shares. On the Excl. US chart, it's still quite short of "Jerusalema" and its impressive top twenty peak there. - There is also a new #1 to report on, though it's one with a very familiar story. Through the teamwork of Jungkook and Jack Harlow, the United States and South Korea each add another chart topper to their ever-increasing lists. - And now the October 14th specifics. • Spain erupts with activity. Quevedo's solo song "Columbia" has had an impressive run in the upper echelons of the chart for a while now, but it gets shoved out of the way by the blast of viral attention given to previously unknown Iñigo Quintero and his song "Si No Estás" which took off so fast that it straight-up debuts in the top twenty. On the Excl. US chart, it rises there, but it still overtakes Quevedo's song. • Japan also has a swap. "Show" by Ado has finally climbed over Yoasobi's "Idol" on both charts this week after a month of steady gains, and it looks like this will finally be the hit that sits stably above Yoasobi for the first time in months. • After over a year of constant activity, Argentina entirely exits from this week's chart on the main Global 200. • On the other hand, neighbor Chile reappears in the lower half of the Excl. US chart through singer Jere Klein.

This week on Global 200 news, the effect of the Drake album bomb on the main chart versus the Excl. US chart is striking. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jSdctFcLyQl6HJYoi9Jr2OHFGkn-TBnxWVFNxMlzrto/edit?usp=sharing- There is a new #1 to celebrate on the Global 200. "IDGAF" puts the Canadian crown back in Drake's familiar hands. Yeat also becomes the biggest American in the world for the first time ever, which I'm sure comes as a surprise to many. Both nations are no stranger to the top spot, and they get to add another tally each. However, on the Excl. US chart, Jack Harlow retains his rank as highest American through "3D" charting higher. - Another nation which consistently reaches the top of the charts is South Korea, who defies the album bomb and rules this week's Excl. US chart. "You & Me" by Jennie debuts right at the top there. Notably, it debuts low enough on the main chart due to lack of US activity that "3D" by Jungkook is still the highest Korean song on that list. - And now the decent amount of October 21st specific news. • On the main chart, Bad Bunny's collab with Drake on "Gently" easily places his name over all other Puerto Ricans. Meanwhile, on the Excl. US chart, "Lala" by Myke Towers holds onto its title. • Argentina flies back onto the main chart after a bried absence with the high debut of Bizarrap's latest session with fellow Argentine Milo J. On the Excl. US chart, they leapfrog "Los del Espacio" to do this. • "Barbie World" has fallen low enough on the Excl. US chart for A-ha to retake the Norway title with "Take On Me" and its evergreen performance. • The Philippines, which have, as of yet, only been represented by Bella Poarch and the Black Eyed Peas on this chart, makes a surprise appearance on the Excl. US chart. Filipino band Juan Karlos debuts their new single in the lower half.

Somehow even Bad Bunny has a slightly less impactful album bomb on the Excl. US chart. That one's just albumphobic at this point. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jSdctFcLyQl6HJYoi9Jr2OHFGkn-TBnxWVFNxMlzrto/edit?usp=sharing- More South Africa news! This week is finally the week it happens. The previous peak of #38 "Jerusalema" reached on account of South Africans Master KG and Nomcebo Zikode has been smashed. "Water" by Tyla makes a massive jump all the way to #21 this week, and it doesn't look like it's done growing. Humorously, after the two songs tied on the main chart two weeks ago, they do so again on the Excl. US chart, where "Water" ties "Jerusalema" at a #17 peak. If it keeps growing, that one should also break soon. This also means, for the first time in years, the biggest African song in the world is by a South African and not a Nigerian. - The big news this week is, obviously, Bad Bunny's new album. It has an even bigger initial impact than Un Verano Sin Ti had, with "Monaco" debuting at the top of both charts. This is not just another easy #1 for the USA but also a chart-topper for the subregion of Puerto Rico. - Now the October 28th specifics. • As a part of Bad Bunny's album bomb, Feid on "Perro Negro" beats out Karol G on "Qlona" for the Colombian crown. • As expected, the world at large is not super receptive to North American hip-hop, so Canada's crown leaves Drake and falls back into Tate McRae's hands this week. • Australia gets some solo representation, which has been rare recently. Troye Sivan's big song from his new album debuts high enough to beat out fellow Australian Hanni of NewJeans and make him the biggest Australian in the world. • India gets another big debut, showing 2023 as the busiest year for India since the chart started. Yo Yo Honey Singh takes India from Arijit Singh and Shilpa Rao. • "Tá OK" falls off the main chart entirely, but a quick reappearance from Anitta on a TXT song means Brazil doesn't disappear entirely.

Welcome to November! This is probably the last week before the freeze begins, and luckily it's got some interesting news. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jSdctFcLyQl6HJYoi9Jr2OHFGkn-TBnxWVFNxMlzrto/edit?usp=sharing- Spain receives a rare accolade! On the Excl. US chart, "Si No Estás" by A Coruña resident Iñigo Quintero slips up to the #1 spot due to some intense streaming from all of Latin America and even most of non-Hispanic Europe. Because of fellow Spaniard Quevedo hitting #1 for a few weeks last year with Bizarrap's biggest smash, Spain can officially say it's gotten two chart-toppers on the global charts from two different artists. "Si No Estás" is also this year's biggest show of polarity between the United States and the rest of the world. It's not even charting on the USA's Hot Latin Songs chart, and that total lack of attention means it only reaches #5 on the main chart. - South Africa also continues its hot streak. "Water" by Tyla skips the top twenty milestone entirely by bringing the all-time South African peak from #21 to #9 this week, making South Africa the second African nation to enter the top ten of the global chart. On the Excl. US chart, Tyla breaks the tie with "Jerusalema" and brings South Africa's peak from #17 to a more modest #11. - The United States itself also gets a small piece of familiar news: a new chart-topper. This time, it's Taylor Swift's "Cruel Summer" completing its four-year trek to the top. - Who wants some Nov. 4 specific news? • Australia gets another little spritz in its drought of hits. "Too Much" by the Kid Laroi and some buddies is the biggest debut on both charts, giving the kid the crown once more. • Kim Petras, after about exactly a year, is finally unseated for Germany. Another good example of the USA ignoring a hit in the rest of the world is "Vois sur ton chemin (Techno Mix)" by German DJ Bennett, which beats "Unholy" on the main chart this week. Bennett beat Kim Petras a couple weeks ago on the Excl. US chart, but it was really difficult to find any information about him. Some sources called him French, even. Luckily, he's got a Spotify bio now which places him squarely in Rhineland. • On the Excl. US chart only, a curious swap takes place, with "Perro Negro" replacing "Monaco" for biggest song from a Puerto Rican, as apparently Bad Bunny's worldwide fans have picked a new favorite song from the recent album drop. • Norway is definitively back in the hands of A-ha now, as "Barbie World" repeats what it did on the Excl. US chart last week. "Take On Me" is the highest song by a Norwegian on both charts. • China makes a small return to the charts through Jun and The8 once again repping the nation in a Seventeen hit. • In the same vein, Turkey's back by the debut of old friend Mert Demir and his new song "Ateşe Düştüm"

This week on the Global 200, two harbingers show their faces: Taylor Swift album bomb and Mariah Carey. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jSdctFcLyQl6HJYoi9Jr2OHFGkn-TBnxWVFNxMlzrto/edit?usp=sharing- It's not so rare for a country, especially the United States, to self-replace at #1 on the Global 200, but this week gets the extra distinction of the same artist handing the crown off to themselves as Taylor Swift's latest hit vault track knocks "Cruel Summer" off the top. - And that technicality is the only peak-related news, so here are the November 11 specifics. • Japan splits this week. On the Excl. US chart, "Show" by Ado stays as the representative track. Meanwhile, on the main chart, Le Sserafim's "Perfect Night" debuts higher, allowing the Japanese members of the band Sakura and Kazuha to take the title there. • Germany also splits, though for less explainable reasons. "Vois sur ton chemin (Techno Mix)" by Bennett stays the top German song (ignore the language) but "Unholy" gets a random massive boost on the main chart which allows Kim Petras to climb well above Bennett there. • Finally, while Brazil is still totally absent on the main chart, there's interesting movement on the Excl. US chart. "Tá OK" by Dennis and MC Kevin O Chris has been the big Brazilian hit for a couple of months now, but it's finally been out-debuted by a song by a pair of purely Brazilian acts: "Daqui pra Sempre" by Manu and Simone Mendes.

This week on the Global 200, a notable event that can't be reflected in my spreadsheet: An album bomb is stronger on the Excl. US chart than on the main one. Congrats to Jungkook for convincing non-Americans to listen to an album! docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jSdctFcLyQl6HJYoi9Jr2OHFGkn-TBnxWVFNxMlzrto/edit?usp=sharing- There has just been a revolving door of #1 songs lately, hasn't there? This time, it's a revolving door of the same artist, too. Jungkook claims his third #1 on both charts in quick succession, really establishing himself as the followup to BTS's dominant success from the first few years of the chart. South Korea gets to notch another chart-topper, as well, with "Standing Next to You" debuting highest off the album. - And now the November 18th specific stuff, of which there is a decent amount of. • As a part of the Golden album bomb, Latto shoves past Taylor Swift and returns to being the top American on both charts. • Not done yet! "Please Don't Change" is one of the album tracks on Golden that debuts with the album bomb, and it features French producer DJ Snake. Likely for only this week, DJ Snake is higher than Daft Punk on the perennial hit "Starboy" as far as musicians from France go. • The UK gets quite the historic shakeup. "Now and Then" by the Beatles, a song whose story I doubt I need to repeat in the places I post these bulletins, debuts above Kenya Grace, giving the most British group of all time a well-deserved week wearing the UK crown. • Argentina also gets a brand new hit. Debuting well above the evaporating session between Bizarrap and Milo J, "La Original" by Argentine singers Emilia and Tini now takes the title for biggest song from Argentina. On the main chart, where "Los del Espacio" could never quite beat the Peso Pluma Bzrp Music Session, this is the first non-Bizarrap leader for Argentina since before breakout hit Vol. 52 with Quevedo.

This week on the Global 200, we see a lot of switching hands for normally stagnant countries. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jSdctFcLyQl6HJYoi9Jr2OHFGkn-TBnxWVFNxMlzrto/edit?usp=sharing- First of all, there's a new #1 to talk aboot. On the main chart, Tate McRae's new biggest hit "Greedy" leaps up a few spots to hit the top, adding another chart-topping hit to Canada's record and giving it the first non-Drake #1 in some time. - Other than that, a lot of November 25th specifics. • As predicted, the Beatles' last song falls HARD. It makes room for Dua Lipa to debut high with "Houdini" and claim the title of biggest British song in the world once again. • Another big debut is Jack Harlow's new sinlge. It's only on the main chart this time, but "Lovin on Me" easily eclipses the Latto song from the Jungkook album bomb to debut as the biggest American song in the world. • Australia's leader changes this week, though not to one you might expect. Due to the smashing debut of "Lalalala" Australian members Bang Chan and Felix of Stray Kids take the title of biggest Australian song from Australian member Hanni of NewJeans. • But we're not done with the K-pop yet! In a surprising mirror event, Chinese member Ningning of Aespa takes the title of biggest Chinese song from Chinese members Jun and The8 of Seventeen. This time it's due to the respectably high debut of "Drama" on both charts. • Hozier replaces himself for biggest Irish song in the world... again. The remix of Noah Kahan's "Northern Attitude" with Hozier debuts high enough to almost match the previous all-time peak for Ireland, though it misses the Excl. US chart entirely; Hozier still rules Ireland with "Take Me to Church" there.

It's December, according to Billboard, and Christmas has officially touched my spreadsheet. Welcome to the freeze! docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jSdctFcLyQl6HJYoi9Jr2OHFGkn-TBnxWVFNxMlzrto/edit?usp=sharing- Just before the freeze kicks in, we have a new national peak to announce! In this case, it's South Africa again. "Water" by Tyla picks up a lot of steam after being held down by a bunch of high debuts in a row. This week, it shoots up to #6 on both global charts. This beats the previous #9 high that it established for South Africa on the main chart, of course, but it also marks a big improvement over the #11 peak on the Excl. US chart. South Africa spends its first week in the top ten ever on the Excl. US chart this week. - There is also the cool case of Canada, where they finally claim another week at the very top of the Excl. US chart. Due to Drake being strongest in the states, this is the first week at the top of the Excl. US chart for Canada since the reign of "Stay" with Justin Bieber! - After that, some interesting December 2nd specific movements. • "Houdini" by Dua Lipa falters off the debut. On the Excl. US chart, this allows the previous British hit, "Strangers" by Kenya Grace, to reclaim the UK spot. However, on the main chart, Christmas has started to creep in, and "Last Christmas" by Wham! becomes the biggest British song in the world. • A pair of status quos are returned to: "Standing Next to You" finally drops off its strong debut, allowing "Seven" to become the biggest Korean song again, though only on the Excl. US chart. As for Ireland, the "Northern Attitude" remix with Hozier falls off enough for "Take Me to Church" to become the big Irish hit of the week again. This is only on the main chart since "Northern Attitude" never touched the Excl. US chart, anyway.
