Not Happiness and Long Story Short early outs. How did you rank Happiness so low - a song where Taylor finally understood that not everything has to be only good or bad, only kings and jesters and sometimes real life sits in muddier terms, where things go wrong and there is nothing to be done.

Willow is at the lower end of my remaining ranks, but it's not because I find it mediocre. It's because this album is so damn strong that the catchy but folksy lead single got pushed to the bottom of the top 10!

I have 4, 5, 8, 15, and 16 left - so it's a mixed handful. "cowboy like me" is just a beautiful track in its entirety. the songwriting is blissful and the instrumental is really, really special.

it deserved top five, at the least. i won't say i'm surprised about the songs that have made it thus far as the overall people tend to favor the upbeat tracks. (though two of the top five should've seen the end of the road back at the beginning of reveals 👀🥇💨)

Next out is "gold rush" - there are some vocal haters of this song but I'm glad this didn't get tanked to oblivion! I love the lush production of the song and the reference to folklore sealed the deal for me. This song got some unsolicited airplay on pop radio the week evermore was released, so in a world where there would be multple pop singles from this album I'm sure this song would be one of them along with "long story short". This song was pretty much destined to be the #4 song until some tanks came in towards the end and pulled it down to #5.

Some people may have been thinking 'tis the damn season to get 'tis the damn season out... and it's finally the season! This song settled at #5 in the second half of the rankdown before slowly creeping up to "gold rush" and overtaking it! My #11 rank might have been a bit harsh in retrospect... I really enjoy this song, don't let my rank fool you! Apparently bboat11 wanted to flop and rank this at #17 but he's only the second to last person to get his #17 out... which one of the three songs remaining is deepston's #17?

Should've been the winner! Out at #3 is our last album track remaining, "champagne problems". It was actually the #1 song for most of the rankdown but the then #2 and #3 song overtook it towards the end. If you noticed the point gap between "'tis the damn season" and this song, it's a little under 100 points which is the biggest gap between two songs that finished next to each other in this rankdown - so the top 3 absolutely ran away with this rankdown! I love the lyrics in this and musically it's reminiscent of "All Too Well" for me - it's probably the C-G-Am-F chord progression (I've been studying a bit of music theory in the past six months or so!) that both share and the vivid imagery used in both songs.
