Goes for alternative and active adds on February 2, and AAA a day before.
RIP No Son of Mine (aka their Leviathan)

This is definitely not a good single choice. It's decent, but I don't see much potential in this one beyond radio playing it because it's the Foo Fighters' new single.

No Son Of Mine came out like five seconds ago.
SLOW DOWN. GOD.

Wow...this is bad. Like, just like, structurally it's really bland and flaccid, weak chorus, absolutely nothing interesting at all. By the time it does finally pick up towards the end, I feel like I just wasted 3 minutes of buildup that wasn't worth the payoff. This is like, the most watered down version of a Foo Fighters song I could imagine, the only thing unique here is the strings but the fact that the whole track sounds like it was recorded in a cardboard box doesn't help? Like, what is this mix, everything is so unclear and there's no depth of sound at all....how did this get released??
I guess Shame Shame remains my favorite track from the upcoming album, but didn't really care for that one either. This is...not going to be the most shining moment for the Foo Fighters is it

Not bad, but I like "No Son Of Mine" better.

Yeah this never really goes anywhere. Not memorable at all. Can’t see myself returning to this one very often, there’s no payout.

Maybe I have low standards but I really enjoyed this one, outside of the chorus being a little repetitive. I really loved the strings - and the crescendo at the end was a nice payoff as we went into up-tempo rock and some rhythm guitar wizardry. I would not have sent this as a single but as an album cut this was pretty satisfying.
RIP "Shame Shame" on Alt though.

I don't think it's bad, but it sounds like the kind of song they can do in their sleep.

Damn I had high hopes for "No Son of Mine" WTF. This is melodic. It has that going for it, but it doesn't even touch shoulders with "Next Year". My thoughts if they really want a bunch of singles floating around the charts would be leave "No Son of Mine" alone on ACtive ,and send this to AAA. Also did they send this because of the state of the nation. The white house attacks? They pretty much just waiting on a civil war.

I know most people probably didn't want a ballad type of song from the Foo Fighters, but honestly I'm perfectly ok with this. It really picks up with about a minute left and fits great with the overall song.
Each of the three songs that have been released are very different. That's what I for one want when it comes to new material when I know that an artist is capable of doing it. Foo Fighters definitely have shown over their career that they can use tons of different sounds and influences when it comes to their music.

I respect these guys but they’ve been hit or miss for me the last decade. Their stuff in the late 90’s/early 2000’s was their best stuff.

Not trying to be insensitive to those moved by this song - music does different things to different people and people can change over time. But for me....
Man, it's like a B-side that didn't quite make it to one of their 2000s albums.
It's okay. Not bad. I can tolerate it...but it's dullitude makes me appreciate "Shame Shame" so much more.

This is nice I guess. But they shouldn't have messed with a good thing, "No Son Of Mine" should've been single #2.

This would be so much better if it didn't awkwardly build up to that 2x speed outro. That nearly made me laugh.

This sounds like they forgot they were making a song while performing it and at the end were like oh, shit, guess something has to happen before this over huh

Good song. I can see why this is ended up as "Medicine at Midnight" single #2. But I'll join the chorus of preferring "No Son Of Mine". I still haven't tracked the full album. Probably get around to that this weekend.

Foo Fighters can do a whole lot better. Compared to all the great songs in their discography this one is more like "Waiting on a Hook". There just isn't much that pulls me in.
