Similar to the radio edit of Bang Bang without Nicki Minaj. Then it’s like, what’s the point? Was it a radio edit or the version they played on HAC? Because hot ac usually plays version of songs without raps.

Similar to the radio edit of Bang Bang without Nicki Minaj. Then it’s like, what’s the point? I don’t know if I’d say these situations are totally comparable. Stupid as they are, no-rap edits have existed for years. Saw it with Down, Payphone, etc. Take out Nicki from Bang Bang and you have a straight-up pop song that the conservative soccer mom can jam out to without risk of her changing the station. Racist? For sure, but at the same time, some pop listeners just don’t like rap melodically, so even if I don’t agree with it, I can at least get the rationale behind the decision. But this? This edit removes a black, gay rapper from his own song, but leaves the featured white rapper intact. This doesn’t protect the I-don’t-like-rap crowd that might change the station. This protects the straight-up racist and homophobic crowd. Inexcusable.

Was it a radio edit or the version they played on HAC? Because hot ac usually plays version of songs without raps. Yeah, it was. But I still found it strange considering Nicki is credited as one of the leads on the song, and the station (and Hot AC in general) does play rap music, or pop songs with guest rappers at least (although one of their Gold plays is Hypnotize by Notorious BIG), not to mention Nicki’s own songs. It’s not 1998 anymore. I don’t think Hot AC can get away with playing rap-less versions of pop songs without it being even somewhat racist.

The poster above said it better than I can.
Now — yes, but at the time, it wasn’t popular for them to play rap, at least to my recollection. I don’t know if it was a racist thing, or just hot ac didn’t/doesn’t play rap/that genre.
But this definitely feels like a racist or homophobic thing they did, because they didn’t edit out the white “rapper”. I don’t get why they’d even play the song. It’s just odd.

Frustrated with his album rollout. Everything was so perfect and then crickets. Why isn’t there an announcement? We don’t need another single. This was a proper launch to get the album out this month. He better have an announcement ready before or immediately after the VMAs. I DONOT want another pre-album single — that includes promotional ones (“Sun Goes Down”).

tbh I'm kind of waiting for a surprise drop or an announcement that the album is coming out the next day or something. The hype and interest is there but the longer he waits, the riskier it is unless they have another full single/video ready to roll out that they're planning to use as an album launch pad. But they don't really need that?

I DONOT want another pre-album single — that includes promotional ones (“Sun Goes Down”). It would be smart for him to drop his album the Friday after the VMA’s. It’s not too late to announce the album date, we’ve seen album release dates announced that soon plenty of times. He can perform “Industry Baby” during the ceremony. That promo plus the album drop could get him back in the Hot 100 top 3, or even potentially to #1. Also maybe drop a new music video for a new song to aid the album release, which will eventually become the 3rd single. That would be the perfect scenario in my opinion.

Ideal scenario, except I think “Industry Baby” should still be the focus and he shouldn’t put out any more singles or videos until after the album, to sustain it. Post-album singles are becoming a little too rare for my old school tastes. I just want him to capitalize on all the hype and attention now. Maximize those numbers. This is not the time to just leave people in the dark about the full length. A surprise drop would be effective, but it loses some of its luster when he already said the album is done and will be out this summer. Now, I realize that summer is still in play, technically, but it just feels strange not having anything… not even an album cover. He’s usually on top of things and has the best team. I am just going to trust the process because he hasn’t fumbled anything yet.
