If this has better longevity than Blinding Lights I'll sell one of my vital organs Huh? I was joking but misunderstood OP, I thought they said that it'll have better legs like IFIC, but they meant that it'd have better legs than IFIC. This is why I can't tiredpost lol.

The Weeknd Rolls Out Greatest Hits Album Ahead of Super Bowl Performance
The Weeknd has unveiled an 18-song greatest hits collection, The Highlights, in advance of his upcoming Super Bowl halftime performance.
The "Blinding Lights" singer will take the stage at the Super Bowl LV showdown between Tampa Bay and Kansas City on Feb. 7 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.
But before then, he's offering fans the chance to order a copy of his hits comp, which features such beloved songs as "In Your Eyes," "Can't Feel My Face," "Starboy," "Heartless," "Die For You," "Love Me Harder" and "Wicked Games," among others; the singer's site says the CD version will ship in the next two or three weeks.
At press time, the collection was not available on major streaming services, and a spokesperson for The Weeknd hadn't returned requests for comment on when it would be released for streaming.
Meanwhile, Abel is gearing up for the big game; he tweeted a photo of himself along with a football emoji on Monday (Jan. 25).
See the track list for The Highlights, as well as The Weeknd's teaser tweet, below.

Yes a spotify playlist that you have to pay for...
The Greatest Hits thing is a relic of the past, specially if it doesn't even include new material.

The problem is: it is the streaming age and, well...
Both Starboy & BBTM had ~450k SPS in 2020. Mostly coming from popular singles. (which will be included on this album)
Binding Lights is immortal.
so tl;dr: this album will be top 15 every week. And i mean EVERY week.

Blinding Lights and Save Your Tears got big boosts on Spotify yesterday. Super Bowl halftime show hype? "The Hills" also re-enter the top 200 on the Global and US charts.

This poses the headache of a question of which albums the songs will be attributed to?? The label will probably push for the songs to be attributed to the Greatest Hits, so that plays from older singles help it approach top 5 or even #1 on the BB200 depending on the competition.

Anyway when it comes to streaming services though, for 'The Highlights', I can see them doing what they did with 'The Weeknd in Japan' (on Japanese Spotify), in which the album is available to stream on the service, but the songs when you stream them are still counting towards the original album that they're from. For example, if you click play on the album and then choose to see the song in full screen, you'll see the song playing from the original album in which it originates from. Essentially the record will just be an official playlist of sorts. You can actually listen to 'The Weeknd in Japan' if you look it up on Google, and see what I mean in person.

The bad thing is that it might cause the parent albums to chart lower or drop out of the Billboard 200 since streams from the songs contained in the Greatest Hits would count toward if it has better weekly pure sales than the song's parent album.

Not sure why The Weeknd isn’t including a vinyl release. I wouldn’t buy a greatest hits album on CD these days but I’d definitely consider buying it on vinyl.

Yes a spotify playlist that you have to pay for... The Greatest Hits thing is a relic of the past, specially if it doesn't even include new material. it’s a great idea, honestly. the Super Bowl is watched by millions upon millions of people, many of them older. Younger people don’t really care for greatest hits records, but what about uncle Jeff searching through iTunes to buy an album from the Michael-Jackson-sounding guy he saw on TV?

I was just about to say this. There's a reason why only 1 Eminem album charts on the Billboard 200 (with the exception of whatever new album he has out at the time be it Revival, Kamikaze or MTBMB) and there's a reason why his longest-charting album is a greatest hits album. People stop playing the biggest songs from their parent albums and just focus on playing the greatest hits album instead.

Looking at that tracklist, I don't know that I'd call In Your Eyes, Pray For Me, Often, Die For You, Acquainted, Wicked Games, the Morning and After Hours "hits," yet alone include them in a "greatest hits" album. Only 1 of those songs reached the top 10 and even then, it wasn't exactly a hit in the conventional sense.
This feels premature and unnecessary. Bruno Mars and Beyoncè have performed at the Super Bowl twice, they have more hits as lead artists and they still haven't put out a greatest hits album (yet). Abel doesn't have nearly enough hits as a lead artist for this and he's only 4 albums in (his debut album had no hits so he really only has 3 albums he can pull from). He should have waited a couple more albums in before doing this imo. Almost half of the songs in that tracklist are album cuts that don't register as even cult classics, yet alone actual hit records but whatever.
I'm excited to see the kind of boost it brings upon release.

I'll have you know that "In Your Eyes" was the fifth biggest song of 2020 in Iceland. The disrespect.

“Greatest hits” doesn’t need to be a top 10 hit or even be defined by chart position at all
“Greatest hits” in most context means best of the artistt

This is going to be a music industry created gimmick for 2021, just like Uzi's ''deluxe: brand new album'' was for 2020. Except this new one is much worse and exploitative. Greatest hits albums only make sense as a physical and digital downloads release. Forget The Weeknd. Imagine if an artist like Drake decided to do a greatest hits album right now and the consequences that would have on the album chart. Billboard might take notice before this gets out of control. Good luck!
