A huge reason for the lack of creativity in their videos has to be that many rappers know they can have successful songs by doing the bare minimum. Take someone like YoungBoy Never Broke Again for instance who releases music and albums throughout a year that never have any sort of cultural or even commercial significance but will still end the year being one of the most streamed artists.
Even someone like Drake only started to put out quality music videos in the past 5 years or so. Before then, they were all lazy and seemed phoned in and even then, he doesn't do interviews or late night TV performances or award show performances probably because he knows he doesn't need to for his songs/albums to be successful.
Obviously, this ties into a bigger discussion about how women have to do the most to gain little traction with their music while men have to do the least, but maybe that's a discussion for another day.

I'm interested to see for which album/s his label chooses to count the song streams from this point forward. I don’t think that decision is in the label‘s power! For RIAA purposes it is. |

DaBaby is the only male rapper right now who I think tries to give his videos flavor and personality by showing his sense of humor. Basically everyone else in his lane does the bare minimum so they can say they've made a music video. There's no sense of unique identity most of the time, you could swap out any of the songs and it wouldn't make much of a difference. Probably he's supplementing his crappy overused flow & awful lyricism lmao |

This isn't album thread but isn't that The Weeknd GH basically YE #1 album already and until the end of year, or is it different to studio albums? I remember Future's HOL going straight to 500k units after release thanks to LIG.

(because for Billboard 200 Y.E. pre-released units don't count)
It won't be #1. It is released week 6.
So for the 46 weeks if it sells: ~20k weekly = 920k
~25k weekly = 1.15M
~30k weekly = 1.38M ~35k weekly = 1.61M ~40k weekly = 1.84M
25-30k is the most realistic one. After everything cools down. Of course numbers will be high the first weeks after Super Bowl.
But anyways it won't be #1. Top 10 - most likely. Last year #10 was 1.47M

It's not a case for me, I'm a sucker for storytelling & supporting visuals viz. Cole, Nf, MGK... Y'all are right maybe not choreography then, but just effort and creativity. Women in hip hop are lapping men several times over in that regard. Which was the point of the tweet. It wasn't talking about sales/hits which are often not a good indicator of effort. If Sweetener -> Thank U Next didn’t kill her career, then the almost 2 year gap with TUN and Positions is completely a normal gap, along with getting a few guest #1’s as well, she’ll be completely fine |

Why would there be though? I don't expect people to care much about a GH set with zero new songs. It's mostly a ploy for BB200 dominance to take advantage of the older hits' boost once he does the show. If anything, it exposes more people to Wicked Games, The Morning, Often, Acquainted and Die For You compared to the rest of the songs where they’ve already been known hits from Abel |

I thought her views would be around 15 million after 24 ours. It looks like a slow start for her. But at least she has the digital and cd singles thing going. |
