Lizzo may not have future hits as big as her first two, no, but itβs weird to say that CILY wasnβt a hit album? #20 on 2019βs year end, #109 on the decade end...itβs literally #123 this week and will have charted for 100 weeks 3 weeks from now
Yβall seem super intent on discrediting this womanβs success recently, smfh
watch her come back later this year and smash

Even though I'm not terribly huge on the song, I was hoping that MH&MH would overtake the #1 on US iTunes at some point today before the Maroon 5/Megan song comes out and inevitably dominates there, but nope, a K-pop song that came out last May has blocked it. Thanks a lot, stan armies.

I love Lizzo, but Cuz I Love You did very well only in the US and Canada - she is not really that popular elsewhere. It reached #19 in Australia but that's it. LNX hasn't yet even released his album so his appeal in the broader picture remains to be seen.

It's abundantly clear at this point that some people want to paint Lizzo's as a fad or that she wasn't very successful, and no matter what facts they are presented with, they will not budge on their opinion. But why? Her weight? Skin color? Positive messages? Corny personality? Do y'all just dislike her or her music so much you want your ramblings to gaslight reality? I don't understand the goal.
Nor do I get why it's even relevant to the Hot 100 dated March 13, 2021, where Lizzo is of no concern to any chart without the word "recurrent" in it.

If lizzo released some music during her peak or even in 2020 she would have had more top 10βs i believe. Itβs a shame

I'd love to see Lizzo come back and smash because:
1. She put the time in as an artist before she saw any real commercial success (her first album was released in 2013, her second in 2015 and her third in 2019 and she didn't see any real mainstream success until 2019).
2. She's 32 right now (she turns 33 on April 27) and we all know how media/fans like to age off female musicians once they reach their 30s.
3. She's really talented. I love her voice and I'd love to hear more songs from her.
I know she's been putting in work behind the scenes so it's really just a matter of WHEN she releases new music, not IF she will.

Lizzo may not have future hits as big as her first two, no, but itβs weird to say that CILY wasnβt a hit album? #20 on 2019βs year end, #109 on the decade end...itβs literally #123 this week and will have charted for 100 weeks 3 weeks from now The songs that made it a hit weren't from the original album, though; they were from previous projects and got tacked onto the album. I guess in a technical sense the original version of the album (or more so, hew newest music) wasn't that big. I think it's a fair point to say her newest music didn't hit as big as the older singles, but that was such a weird situation that I'm not sure we can truly draw conclusions. Hopefully she releases new music sooner than later.

But there are some asterisks I guess. For one, the two hits aren't even on the original version of the album, they had to keep "re-releasing" to add them after they started gaining traction. But the album still sold well. How can it be a flop, especially for her? It outsold the rest of her discography with ease. Context is key.

Havenβt heard the song yet, but after just 45 minutes, the release of the new M5/Megan track feels oddly like a non-event?
Iβm not saying itβs gonna flop, but neither Maroon 5 nor Megan are trending on Twitter after almost an hour since its release. Maybe since this isnβt releasing on a Friday itβll be more of a slow burn, and the βbandββs demographic skews older anyway, so they may not be talking about it so much as just buying it without hesitation. Itβs early still, so weβll see where the hype goes from here.
EDIT: Guess I was wrong, #BeautifulMistakes is now #5 trending on Twitter.

What is up with there being two different mixes? There is the auto-generated version that is 3:18 long, and cuts up the two parts by Megan (this is also the version on Spotify). And then there is the 3:37 long lyric video, which has both of Megan's parts right after eachother in the second half.

I feel confident in saying it won't be as big as Girls Like You. We'll see if it's even close.
But I do like it more than Girls Like You, not that that's saying a whole lot lol. It's not.

This is as generic as I expected. Let's be honest, Maroon 5 nowadays will always make safe and basic songs for the soccer mommies.

Maroon 5's storied history of collaborating with POC acts at the height of their popularity.
2012 - Payphone (feat. Wiz Khalifa) 2014 - Animals (Remix) [feat. J. Cole] 2015 - Maps (Remix) [feat. Big Sean] 2015 - Sugar (Remix) [feat. Nicki Minaj] 2016 - Don't Wanna Know (feat. Kendrick Lamar) 2017 - Who I Am (feat. LunchMoney Lewis) 2017 - Cold (feat. Future) 2017 - Cold (Remix) [feat. Future & Gucci Mane] 2017 - Whiskey (feat. A$AP Rocky) 2017 - What Lovers Do (feat. SZA) 2018 - Wait (Remix) [feat. A Boogie wit da Hoodie] 2018 - Girls Like You (feat. Cardi B) 2020 - Nobody's Love (Remix) [feat. Popcaan] 2021 - Beautiful Mistakes (feat. Megan Thee Stallion)
I'm surprised they haven't worked with Young Thug, Doja Cat, Roddy Ricch, Lil Baby, DaBaby, Gunna, etc yet. They have the most boring, predictable collaborations.
Pick any black artist that's doing well commercially and there's a high chance they'll be featured on a Maroon 5 song soon.

Originally it was a solo deep cut from Red Pill Blues.

That's really all they can do.
