More Fatter - “Weirdo” (DistrictTwelve, #1) vs. Mac Ayres - “Every Time” (stallie, #6) - "Every Time" is a pretty nice, solid tune. Not sure if it's something I'd come back to, but it's a perfectly pleasant listen. "Weirdo" is a groovy jam and, in my opinion, was a great way to kick off March Madness! I enjoy this one a lot!
Miley Cyrus - “Gimme What I Want” (woods, #1) vs. Godspeed You! Black Emperor - “Job’s Lament” (rom, #6) - Not sure if these songs could be any more different haha. Truth is that I haven't been all that impressed with the Miley Cyrus album. "Gimme What I Want" is one of the better tracks, but even then it wasn't that great. "Job's Lament" drags a little bit, but I still found it to be more interesting here.
Ashley McBryde - “Sparrow” (indulge, #1) vs. Arlo Parks - “Just Go” (Harry, #6) - Ohhh this matchup killed me. "Just Go" is really nice and I can definitely see why Arlo Parks is a favorite around here. I also really like Ashley McBryde and "Sparrow" is just so good. It's a super tough matchup, but I'll give the edge to Ashley. I don't have that strong of a preference.
Taylor Swift - “August” (nickd, #1) vs. Pity Party (Girls Club) - “i hope that u think of me” (Tanooki, #6) - I'm surprised "August" hasn't been sent already given that it's one of the strongest tracks on Folklore. It's very dreamy and very pleasant. Great song all around. I like the bassline on "i hope that you think of me". It makes the song pretty catchy. The song is pretty short though, so there wasn't much opportunity for the song to really wow me.
Silk Sonic - “Leave The Door Open” (fearlessarrow, #1) vs. Dua Lipa - “That Kind Of Woman” (Juan Carlos, #6) - I've heard "Leave The Door Open" a couple of times before and I thought it was pretty solid. But listening to it now, I think it's actually pretty good. It has a really nice vibe to it and these two artists complement each other so well. Meanwhile, I'm really not a huge fan of Dua Lipa outside of a few select songs. "That Kind Of Woman" is pretty unremarkable and just sounds recycled.
SZA - “Good Days” (Zach, #1) vs. Kings Of Leon - “The Bandit” (Adrian C., #6) - This is giving me massive "My Own Soul's Warning" vs. "Soul Control" vibes. I just tend to get unlucky every now and then. Not that I really have anything to complain about since "Good Days" is a good song. It's not that far off from "The Bandit" for me. But it's been a while since I've liked a Kings of Leon song as much as this one.
Brent Faiyaz - "Dead Man Walking" (filthy, #1) vs. Still Corners - “White Sands” (Geometrical, #6) - I didn't really find "Dead Man Walking" to be all that captivating. It was ok, but just not something that struck me as all that interesting. "White Sands" is really enjoyable. I loved "The Last Exit", and I really like the pacing on this one. It's got a nice instrumental and they have a great vocalist too, who kind of reminds me of Nanna from Of Monsters and Men.
Favorite Discovery: Still Corners - "White Sands"
Top 5: 1. Still Corners - "White Sands" 2. More Fatter - "Weirdo" 3. Kings Of Leon - "The Bandit" 4. Ashley McBryde - "Sparrow 5. Taylor Swift - "August"

More Fatter - “Weirdo” (DistrictTwelve, #1) (7.1) vs. Mac Ayres - “Every Time” (stallie, #6) (7.3) Weirdo would probably get my vote if I could get behind the vocals more.
Miley Cyrus - “Gimme What I Want” (woods, #1) (8.4) vs. Godspeed You! Black Emperor - “Job’s Lament” (rom, #6) (8.0) Gimme What I Want was a highlight from Plastic Hearts for me. 80's pop rock is a sound that really compliments Miley's voice. This GYBE song is definitely the type of song I appreciate as a piece of avant-garde music more than the type of song I'd want to listen to regularly, if that makes sense. It's giving galaxy brain energy.
Ashley McBryde - “Sparrow” (indulge, #1) (8.2) vs. Arlo Parks - “Just Go” (Harry, #6) (8.4) Just Go is so good! Very groovy production especially with those guitars. Sparrow is really pretty as well, Ashley McBryde is a great storyteller and the guitar solo near the end is fantastic. Tough matchup.
Taylor Swift - “August” (nickd, #1) (8.1) vs. Pity Party (Girls Club) - “i hope that u think of me” (Tanooki, #6) (6.4) We're still sending Folklore songs? Granted, August is a really pretty song, the instrumental buildup at the last minute mark is so gorgeous. I really liked the bass riff on I Hope That You Think Of Me, I do think it would've benefitted from more fleshed out production however and the vocal delivery wan't really my cup of tea.
Silk Sonic - “Leave The Door Open” (fearlessarrow, #1) (8.8) vs. Dua Lipa - “That Kind Of Woman” (Juan Carlos, #6) (7.9) LTDO is exactly what I'd expect from a Bruno/Paak collab but it also kind of exceeded my expectations? The instrumentation is so lush and sensual and both artists bring their A-game. I'd be down for a Philly soul revival. The deluxe edition of Future Nostalgia was pretty underwhelming and mediocre, but That Kind Of Woman is the best of the new tracks. The chorus is so catchy! The verses could be stronger, though, and I feel that it ends kind of abruptly.
SZA - “Good Days” (Zach, #1) (9.8) vs. Kings Of Leon - “The Bandit” (Adrian C., #6) (7.8) Good Days is one of the best songs of the past few years imo, I feel like it's pretty self-evidntly incredible. Really happy it became Solana's biggest solo hit to date. I'm really digging the guitars on The Bandit, it isn't as melodically strong as, say, Sex On Fire or Use Somebody on first listen but I'll definitely return to it.
Brent Faiyaz - "Dead Man Walking" (filthy, #1) (7.8) vs. Still Corners - “White Sands” (Geometrical, #6) (8.3) Brent's music is really vibey and Dead Man Walking is no exception, especially in the latter half of the song when the drums come in. White Sands is great! It would make for fantastic summer driving music methinks.

I think it's time we blow this scene Get everybody and the stuff together Okay, three, two, one, let's jam!
More Fatter - “Weirdo” (DistrictTwelve, #1) vs. Mac Ayres - “Every Time” (stallie, #6) "Every Time" was adequate but it wasn't a particularly exciting song, "Weirdo" got my attention right away with a disco-y burst of pop energy. Wasn't close. I hate betraying someone who shares my first name but still.
Miley Cyrus - “Gimme What I Want” (woods, #1) vs. Godspeed You! Black Emperor - “Job’s Lament” (rom, #6) The Miley song just sounds kinda weird - like they were trying to summon the spirit of the 80's but weren't sure how, so they did an approximation by digitizing as much as possible. I was kinda put off by it. "Job's Lament" was a pretty neat post-rock instrumental that built up gradually over its lengthy running-time, it had a pretty cinematic feel to it, like something you could hear out of a stylized suspense or action film.
Ashley McBryde - “Sparrow” (indulge, #1) vs. Arlo Parks - “Just Go” (Harry, #6) I can't stand country music and "Sparrow" was no exception. Arlo won this one basically by default.
Taylor Swift - “August” (nickd, #1) vs. Pity Party (Girls Club) - “i hope that u think of me” (Tanooki, #6) I'd usually never vote for Taylor Swift but this was another no contest situation. Taylor going indie folk has made her listenable to me for the first time in years - and enhances her good instinct for hooks. The Pity Party song was way too short to make an impression, it felt like an excerpt of a song.
Silk Sonic - “Leave The Door Open” (fearlessarrow, #1) vs. Dua Lipa - “That Kind Of Woman” (Juan Carlos, #6) "Leave The Door Open" is my favorite pop smash of the year so far - "That Kind of Woman" has a great chorus though. Closer than I expected going in.
SZA - “Good Days” (Zach, #1) vs. Kings Of Leon - “The Bandit” (Adrian C., #6) I don't see what people see in SZA, this just kinda meandered around and then ended. "The Bandit" is a haunting alt-rocker that has grown on me steadily over the months since it came out, so this wasn't close in this case.
Brent Faiyaz - "Dead Man Walking" (filthy, #1) vs. Still Corners - “White Sands” (Geometrical, #6) Pretty close, both were neat discoveries. I think I prefer the latter a bit more.

More Fatter - “Weirdo” (DistrictTwelve, #1) [5.3/10] vs. Mac Ayres - “Every Time” (stallie, #6) [6.2/10] "Weirdo" is just a pretty average and forgettable piece of indie pop (sorry District), "Every Time" didn't exactly reinvent the wheel but it's a pretty pleasant slow jam so it gets my vote.
Miley Cyrus - “Gimme What I Want” (woods, #1) [5.7/10] vs. Godspeed You! Black Emperor - “Job’s Lament” (rom, #6) [8/10] Nice to hear Miley try to go towards a noisier style, but her vocals are almost unrecognizable as her and I've generally heard this style performed much better by others. Given how short my attention span can be I really have to try hard to focus if I'm listening to stuff like GYBE, therefore while I wouldn't usually go out of my way to listen to them I can usually appreciate what they're going for. With that being said though, I did like this a lot more than I was expecting, maybe it being merely 8 minutes instead of it being like 20 as usual helped.
Ashley McBryde - “Sparrow” (indulge, #1) [7/10] vs. Arlo Parks - “Just Go” (Harry, #6) [6.8/10] Sparrow's a pretty nice country song, good guitar work, don't really have much else to say. Given what else I've heard from Arlo Parks I wasn't expecting this funkier style from her, not the best thing I've heard from her but I kinda dig it. Close matchup but I guess I'll go with Sparrow.
Taylor Swift - “August” (nickd, #1) [7.8/10] vs. Pity Party (Girls Club) - “i hope that u think of me” (Tanooki, #6) [6.7/10] ...wait, this was one of the last remaining Folklore songs that hadn't been picked? This might actually be the best thing I've heard from the album. "i hope that u think of me" was a nice little song, cool bassline and I feel bad voting for a Taylor Swift song over an underdog, just wish there was a bit more variation in it.
Silk Sonic - “Leave The Door Open” (fearlessarrow, #1) [7.3/10] vs. Dua Lipa - “That Kind Of Woman” (Juan Carlos, #6) [6.5/10] Confession: I hadn't heard "Leave the Door Open" until now. I don't love it to the degree that everyone else does, but it still does a pretty solid job at capturing that 70s R&B feel. "That Kind of Woman" is better than I was expecting from a FN deluxe track, just didn't win me over as much though.
SZA - “Good Days” (Zach, #1) [8.3/10] vs. Kings Of Leon - “The Bandit” (Adrian C., #6) [7.2/10] Enough's been written about Good Days by now where I don't think I have much of value to say on it, let's just say I'm fully on board its hype train. The Bandit's better than I expected a 2021 Kings of Leon song to be, definitely prefer it to anything off their last album, just not as impactful of a song as Good Days is. (also is it just me or does John Leon sound quite a bit like Eddie Vedder on this song lol)
Brent Faiyaz - "Dead Man Walking" (filthy, #1) [7.3/10] vs. Still Corners - “White Sands” (Geometrical, #6) [8.1/10] I was in NYC last week and I saw a bunch of street ads for Brent Faiyaz, I was like "who the f**k" so good to have some closure there. I wasn't expecting the beat that came in halfway after the instrumental was just that looping string riff, pretty nice song. While dream pop is one of my favorite genres Still Corners have never been among my favorites, that said this last album era is the most they've won me over. (case in point, I sent a different song by them here!) This song rules, love how all the guitars are layered on top of each other, really feels like I'm driving down the lonely highway she's singing about.

Az Paynter and BB🌕, what were the two songs used as the new #5 and #6 seeds? I want to put it into my spreadsheet for scores (and I assume walt91 needs to put it in the playlist).

More Fatter - “Weirdo” (DistrictTwelve, #1) vs. Mac Ayres - “Every Time” (stallie, #6)
- "Weirdo" is interesting. I'm not sure entirely how I feel? I really like the sound of it, but the vocals are not great and the lyrics are bleh. This sounds like something that could become more mindless in the future, but I do like it on first listen, just don't love it like the sound might suggest for me. "Every Time" was really nice. Very smooth from front to back.
Miley Cyrus - “Gimme What I Want” (woods, #1) vs. Godspeed You! Black Emperor - “Job’s Lament” (rom, #6)
- lmao what a matchup. I haven't been totally sold on Miley's new sound. Something about it feels very amateurish. I will say this one is better than the majority of what I've heard sent through these games. Not too bad. I could see it growing more in the future. The time length is very scary on this Godspeed You! Black Emperor song, please stay away from this. In all seriousness, "Job's Lament" has a really nice build. I feel like it could be a tad bit shorter on the front end, but overall, really solid stuff.
Ashley McBryde - “Sparrow” (indulge, #1) vs. Arlo Parks - “Just Go” (Harry, #6)
- "Sparrow" was really solid. I'm not sure how I've received Ashley's songs in the past off the top of my head (I almost think I didn't care for them...?), but this was really good. Production felt epic, while her vocals sound really good. I think my only gripe was the outro just being her repeating "sparrow", lol, but still great nonetheless. I've liked everything I've heard from Arlo Parks thus far, but I think this might be my least favorite I've heard from her. Still a solid track, but I think I actually prefer Ashley here.
Taylor Swift - “August” (nickd, #1) vs. Pity Party (Girls Club) - “i hope that u think of me” (Tanooki, #6)
- Of the folklore and evermore eras, "august" was definitely one of my favorites across both albums. The chorus is an absolute earworm. I'm honestly really surprised this didn't show up in WTM. Really good song. I try not to go with the basic picks, but "i hope that u think of me" didn't really move the needle much for me. Just felt like it was kinda there, and the ending being as abrupt as it was feels rather lazy, lol. "august" will take this one with ease for me.
Silk Sonic - “Leave The Door Open” (fearlessarrow, #1) vs. Dua Lipa - “That Kind Of Woman” (Juan Carlos, #6)
- "Leave the Door Open" is an instant classic. Feels so timeless. Absolutely love both Anderson and Bruno on this. I'm absolutely hyped for this album to come out, and this is an outstanding lead for it. So happy that Anderson is finally getting his mainstream breakthrough, and I hope this keeps pushing his music out there further. Incredible musician. This is kind of a sad matchup because "That Kind of Woman" was the only new song I enjoyed from the Moonlight edition of Future Nostalgia. It was one of the maybe two that felt like it could fit on the album. Oh well.
SZA - “Good Days” (Zach, #1) vs. Kings Of Leon - “The Bandit” (Adrian C., #6)
- Another tough one, but kind of easy for me? "Good Days" is super good. I absolutely love the dreamy production of the track, and I never thought a song like this would fit SZA, but she absolutely knocks this out of the park. Just a phenomenal song. "The Bandit" is one of my favorites from Kings of Leon in recent years, but it's been a song I'll just listen to when it comes up in my playlist. Good song, but not the most memorable song.
Brent Faiyaz - "Dead Man Walking" (filthy, #1) vs. Still Corners - “White Sands” (Geometrical, #6)
- I've heard good things from Brent Faiyaz's new music, and this was a nice introduction. I always liked him on GoldLink's "Crew", but I never took the time to check his other music out. This is good. I listened to this on my first run through on the playlist and thought it was decent, but the second listen feels better to me, so it seems like this could be a further grower. Nice track. "White Sands" was so good. I don't know why, but it wasn't what I expected. I thought it was gonna be some 80s sounding new wave band lmao. I really loved the instrumentation and her voice on the track. This felt super immediate to me. Another really tough matchup, but "White Sands" made this easy for me somehow.

More Fatter - “Weirdo” (DistrictTwelve, #1) vs. Mac Ayres - “Every Time” (stallie, #6) Both were decent but I got lost in the middle of "Every Time"
Miley Cyrus - “Gimme What I Want” (woods, #1) vs. Godspeed You! Black Emperor - “Job’s Lament” (rom, #6) It could go either way.
Ashley McBryde - “Sparrow” (indulge, #1) vs. Arlo Parks - “Just Go” (Harry, #6) Both were solid, I enjoyed "Sparrow" a little more.
Taylor Swift - “August” (nickd, #1) vs. Pity Party (Girls Club) - “i hope that u think of me” (Tanooki, #6) "august" is a beautiful song, the other was forgettable.
Silk Sonic - “Leave The Door Open” (fearlessarrow, #1) vs. Dua Lipa - “That Kind Of Woman” (Juan Carlos, #6) This could go either way according wAith my mood.
SZA - “Good Days” (Zach, #1) vs. Kings Of Leon - “The Bandit” (Adrian C., #6) I like both, and this is a pitty vote for "The Bandit"
Brent Faiyaz - "Dead Man Walking" (filthy, #1) vs. Still Corners - “White Sands” (Geometrical, #6) "White Sands" is my favorite discovery of the set. It sounds so peaceful.

This was quite a great round--nearly everything was something I at least liked well enough.
More Fatter - “Weirdo” (DistrictTwelve, #1) vs. Mac Ayres - “Every Time” (stallie, #6) I actually quite liked the both of these, but "Every Time" clicked with me just a tad more, so I'll be giving it the edge here.
Miley Cyrus - “Gimme What I Want” (woods, #1) vs. Godspeed You! Black Emperor - “Job’s Lament” (rom, #6) "Job's Lament" was a nice vibe and I liked it well enough, but eight or more minutes--that's something only Taylor is gonna be able to pull off with me when she drops All Too Well in its true entirety this year :kii: "Gimme What I Want" is a 100% certified bop through and through and it's something I'm actually about to chart at some point this year. Giving Miley my vote here
Ashley McBryde - “Sparrow” (indulge, #1) vs. Arlo Parks - “Just Go” (Harry, #6) "Just Go" was rather nice but I just really, really love "Sparrow"
Taylor Swift - “August” (nickd, #1) vs. Pity Party (Girls Club) - “i hope that u think of me” (Tanooki, #6) IHTUTOM just did not do anything for me. "august," on the other hand, is a song that (despite my initial cold-water response to it) has grown on me like a weed, quite literally out of nowhere. I know it's Taylor but I have to hand my vote to her here.
Silk Sonic - “Leave The Door Open” (fearlessarrow, #1) vs. Dua Lipa - “That Kind Of Woman” (Juan Carlos, #6) "Leave The Door Open" was such a VIBE!!! But ugh, Dula Peep really snapped on "That Kind Of Woman." Still mad it's not ft. Normani, but wow what a song. Giving her the vote!
SZA - “Good Days” (Zach, #1) vs. Kings Of Leon - “The Bandit” (Adrian C., #6) SZA came out of the blue with this one. Thinking I might chart this tbh!
Brent Faiyaz - "Dead Man Walking" (filthy, #1) vs. Still Corners - “White Sands” (Geometrical, #6) Both of these songs were great, but "White Sands" is getting my vote. Something about that is just SUCH a vibe. Song of the summer on my personal chart perhaps?

More Fatter - “Weirdo” (DistrictTwelve, #1) vs. Mac Ayres - “Every Time” (stallie, #6) I'm a bit of a sucker for mellow R&B songs like "Every Time". "Weirdo" was fine, but maybe a little too cookie-cutter indie pop for my liking.
Miley Cyrus - “Gimme What I Want” (woods, #1) vs. Godspeed You! Black Emperor - “Job’s Lament” (rom, #6) Outside of "Midnight Sky", this was probably one of the better things I've heard from Miley Cyrus, though I'm far from being a fan of hers. Good production, though vocals sounded a bit odd at times. "Job's Lament" was enjoyable - especially in the second half - and went by surprisingly fast for a GYBE track, but as others mentioned, maybe it's because, well, it wasn't a 20-some minute song like most of their stuff.
Ashley McBryde - “Sparrow” (indulge, #1) vs. Arlo Parks - “Just Go” (Harry, #6) "Sparrow" was a pleasant surprise. A solid track from start to finish. "Just Go" was alright, but I wasn't hooked into the song until about 2/3 of the way in.
Taylor Swift - “August” (nickd, #1) vs. Pity Party (Girls Club) - “i hope that u think of me” (Tanooki, #6) "August" was, for me, one of the better songs from Folklore, though I'm definitely burnt out on ranking songs from that album, lol. "i hope that u think of me" had a good mellow vibe, but the vocals didn't reach me as much as I would've liked them to.
Silk Sonic - “Leave The Door Open” (fearlessarrow, #1) vs. Dua Lipa - “That Kind Of Woman” (Juan Carlos, #6) "Leave the Door Open" is fantastic - I like the retro vibe of the song combined with the polished production, and Bruno's vocals are really soaring above the whole track. I can enjoy some Dua Lipa, but "That Kind of Woman" felt a bit too much like her on auto-pilot for me.
SZA - “Good Days” (Zach, #1) vs. Kings Of Leon - “The Bandit” (Adrian C., #6) I probably won't describe "Good Days" in a way that hasn't already been mentioned, but yeah, I'm a big fan of the dreamy, mellow vibe that the song creates. "The Bandit" was a bit of a middle-of-the-road KoL song for me, good, but not completely innovative.
Brent Faiyaz - "Dead Man Walking" (filthy, #1) vs. Still Corners - “White Sands” (Geometrical, #6) Well, I did enjoy the fellow song competing against mine (and tbh, probably a top 3 song from this overall set).

More Fatter - “Weirdo” (DistrictTwelve, #1) {6.4} vs. Mac Ayres - “Every Time” (stallie, #6) {7.6} weirdo was okay but idk i'm usually not too big on that style of indie pop(?). every time was more up my alley, mac has a nice voice and i liked the way the song sounded for the most part.
Miley Cyrus - “Gimme What I Want” (woods, #1) {6.6} vs. Godspeed You! Black Emperor - “Job’s Lament” (rom, #6) {8.9} gimme what i want was fine but miley has never done much for me. job's lament actually exceeded my expectations surprisingly, loved the intensity.
Ashley McBryde - “Sparrow” (indulge, #1) {7.4} vs. Arlo Parks - “Just Go” (Harry, #6) {7.7} both of these are pretty good, i preferred arlo's track slightly but sparrow would've been my pick against several of the songs here
Taylor Swift - “August” (nickd, #1) {9.6} vs. Pity Party (Girls Club) - “i hope that u think of me” (Tanooki, #6) {7.0} august is probably my favourite song across both folklore/evermore, so gorgeous. i hope that u think of me was pretty cool but felt a little short ig.
Silk Sonic - “Leave The Door Open” (fearlessarrow, #1) {7.9} vs. Dua Lipa - “That Kind Of Woman” (Juan Carlos, #6) {7.1} leave the door open is my favourite bruno performance in years lol, anderson obviously kills it too - very solid track. that kind of woman is very standard dua lipa, it's good but also gives me no reason to come back to it.
SZA - “Good Days” (Zach, #1) {9.6} vs. Kings Of Leon - “The Bandit” (Adrian C., #6) {6.5} i fucking love good days. the bandit is fine.
Brent Faiyaz - "Dead Man Walking" (filthy, #1) {8.3} vs. Still Corners - “White Sands” (Geometrical, #6) {8.0} dead man walking is great, disappointing that it was matched up against still corners. white sands is also a highlight within this set and i'll probably be voting for it in future rounds.

More Fatter - “Weirdo” (DistrictTwelve, #1) vs. Mac Ayres - “Every Time” (stallie, #6) "Weirdo" is funky and catchy - the falsettos remind me of Jason Derulo and I don't know how I feel about that but anyways... "Every Time" is a chill slow jam. I don't always jive with slow R&B jams, but this one works for me. Pretty close match from the very first matchup, but I'm giving it to Mac Ayres.
Miley Cyrus - “Gimme What I Want” (woods, #1) vs. Godspeed You! Black Emperor - “Job’s Lament” (rom, #6) "Gimme What I Want" isn't a favorite on Plastic Hearts but still in the top half of the album for me. I like Miley's style overall on Plastic Hearts so naturally I like this song as well, although her vocals in the chorus is grating to my ears. I'm glad this GYBE song isn't 20 minutes long, lol. "Job's Lament" is good instrumental music, I liked it more than I expected. This honestly could go either way, but "Gimme What I Want" is probably the one I would gravitate towards a bit more if given the choice to listen to one over the other.
Ashley McBryde - “Sparrow” (indulge, #1) vs. Arlo Parks - “Just Go” (Harry, #6) "Sparrow" is one of the best songs on Never Will even if I'm not the biggest fan of the "spaaaaaaaaarow"s in the chorus (that's like the only flaw in the song to me). "Just Go" is really good too; Collapsed in Sunbeams overall is solid too. Tough choice again, but I'll live up to my tractor name here.
Taylor Swift - “August” (nickd, #1) vs. Pity Party (Girls Club) - “i hope that u think of me” (Tanooki, #6) "august" is one of the best songs on folklore and considering how much I love Taylor Swift it would be a tall order to make me vote against it. The bridge and outro are just immaculate. "i hope that u think of me" has a cool bassline but the song kind of goes nowhere imo. Maybe it's the distorted vocals but it reminds me of "Pumped Up Kicks".
Silk Sonic - “Leave The Door Open” (fearlessarrow, #1) vs. Dua Lipa - “That Kind Of Woman” (Juan Carlos, #6) Bruno Mars songs usually take a while to grow on me, so color me surprised when I instantly loved "Leave the Door Open" on first listen! Both Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak sound great on this and the production is sublime. It's one of the best songs of the year so far. "That Kind of Woman" is probably the best deluxe edition track from Future Nostalgia (should've been in the standard edition instead of "Good in Bed"), but pales in comparison to "Leave the Door Open".
SZA - “Good Days” (Zach, #1) vs. Kings Of Leon - “The Bandit” (Adrian C., #6) Another one of the best hits of the year. "Good Days" has such lush production and SZA's delivery is just perfect. "The Bandit" is great as well, but it's a shame it has to go up against "Good Days". It would've gotten my vote against most songs here.
Brent Faiyaz - "Dead Man Walking" (filthy, #1) vs. Still Corners - “White Sands” (Geometrical, #6) "Dead Man Walking" was pretty good, but "White Sands" vibed with me more.
