Dead Man Walking has been one of my most played songs over the last months. It's a brilliant song with an amazing atmosphere and I have to go for my own pick here. White Sands was my favorite discovery of this set, and if my #1 is getting eliminated in the very first round, I'm glad it's against a very good matchup😃

I never thought I'd be a huge Taylor Swift fan, but she's won me over. Great ear for melody and I like the newer direction. Pity Party didn't do it for me on a first listen - needed a bit more variety in the song.

Pure butter turned into a song. Even as a rock guy, I've always had a soft spot for Bruno Mars. Combine him with Anderson .Paak, and this song is great. Dua's song is a solid pop song. I could see my daughter and I busting to it on Just Dance.

Dang...two songs I really like. But The Bandit has been one of my favorite songs of the year so far. I just really like the driving, darker sound KOL pull here. Good Days is also a great slow burner of a song. Love the sonic texture and wandering melody.

Two new discoveries for me. I like Brent's use of string and dissonance to build tension in the song. Don't love the lyrics, but good first listen. I have never heard of Still Corners, but I like this one a lot. Sneaks an 80s vibe into the background of a shoegazer rock sound. Beautiful.

I guessed More Fatter is either a goofy indie band or black artist because of falsettos. Turns out to be former. I don't think they are really that pleasant. The chorus of Every Time is a bit repetitive but it's a much smoother listen.

Feels like I like Gimme What I Want more than most here, especially regarding 80s style imitation. The chorus has harder punch than Midnight Sky tbh, but Job's Lament is a good instrumental with more intense guitar riffs.

Ashley McBryde is the critic favorite new country female for a reason. Contemporary enough to get played on radio and lyrics smart enough to stand out from the peers. Sparrow is a good showcase to all of that. Definitely an unpopular opinion but Arlo Parks' album is a major disappointment. I only use one song of the album and it's not entered in the tournament so...sorry. Just Go wore off for me after a few listens.

Tbh expected better for both. Leave The Door Open is Bruno Mars standard sex song that he excels at but also too easy for him to make. And I have heard the remixed version of That Kind Of Woman too many times that this slower unmixed version sounds underwhelming. Overall though I like Leave The Door Open bringing a different genre to charts so I vote for that.

It isn't. IDK why, but the web player embed hasn't removed the songs from the first round, just tacked on the new ones on the end. In my Desktop app, it only has the 14 songs for the new round. Even opening up Spotify through the web broswer is only showing the updated playlist.

EDIT: And I've tried fixing it, but now it's just giving me 'Sorry, Couldn't Find That'? So I've changed it back, still displaying incorrectly. What gives, is this a Proboards thing?

I've had this problem before as well; not sure if it's PB specifically or Spotify embeds not being 100% compatible with bbcode-based forums in general. FWIW when I commented earlier the old playlist was showing and now the correct one is, so maybe you just need to refresh the page, or leave it and then come back to it.

- There’s just something about Beach Bunny’s songs that I just always enjoy. Kind of sounds sad, but like at the same time there’s a “feel-good” sound to “Blame Game”? I like it. “On A Mountain” has a nice instrumental, I don’t know if I’m completely sold on her voice though. I think I enjoy this, though it kind of sounds like something I’d lose interest in over time.

Jamie O’Neal - “Closer To Closure” (bboat11, #1) vs. Miley Cyrus f/Billy Idol - “Night Crawling” (Tom, #6)
- “Closer To Closure” is really pleasant! Really loving the vibe of it. “Night Crawling” has a solid instrumental, though I feel like “Closer To Closure” hooked me just a bit more.

- Black Pumas consistently put out great music. “I’m Ready” has a nice feel to it, very soulful and overall a great listen. “4 Thangs” is also really good! I feel like this song really does a great job of blending Freddie & Sean’s styles. This matchup is extremely close for me.

- “Too Good” I think I need to start stanning Arlo Parks harder now, as this is such an enjoyable song. The verses took a bit to click for me in “Wilder Days” but really like the chorus. The guitar in the chorus really gives it such a nice vibe.

- I forgot that “The Starlight Lounge” was sent for Pulsevision! Really nice vibe, kind of reminds me of Phoebe at times. I actually discovered “Favourite Song” through the “Out Now” playlist on Spotify, just found it to be a fun song! I just really enjoy the instrumental, especially in the chorus though I will say it has burned on me a bit since discovering it.

Closer to Closure is like...very average country. Not bad at all but I highly doubt I'll remember anything about it after this round. I don't really love "Night Crawling", and Billy does sound fairly rough on it, but it's catchy enough I guess.

Black Pumas have never really stood out amongst all the modern soul acts to me, "I'm Ready" is pretty good but not much else. I wish "4 Thangs" was longer, but it's still pretty fun and Gibbs and Sean have plenty of chemistry with each other.
