"Two Dozen Roses" was released by Shenandoah in August 1989 as the fourth single from their album The Road Not Taken and it was their third number-one hit. This started off at its highest ranked position inside the top 2 thanks to our first participant CoJoFan who would be followed up by myself and ClevelandRox with a top 10. While it briefly left the top 15 as one of three rankings from outside the top half came along, it would rebound and then maintain its top 10 status for the duration of the rankdown. Yet again the majority of the group placed this somewhere within their top 30. This would make another appearance inside the top 5 as it would pick up a top 4 from Cody Wants Out... as well as a second top 2 ranking from castleoblivion26.

If "The Dance" and "Love Without End, Amen" could go next that would be ideal.

Stats for #6:
Our next song was in fact a solid top 5 contender for much of its run and was even one of our #1 contenders as we neared the middle of the rankdown. Six participants lose a top 5 which includes my #1 ranking as well as someones #2. Eleven of the participants placed this in their top 25 while two others find themselves isolated down in the bottom 10.
Best rankdown position: 1 Worst rankdown position: 7 Average: 25.53 SD Rank: 11th Highest
Ranking distribution: Top 10s: 6 11 to 25: 5 26 to 50: 2 51 to 75: 0 76 to 90: 0 Bottom 10s: 2

Had that been by anyone else, it would've been top 3.

I haven't seen this much Garth hate since my Mom told me about the time he wouldn't sing at George Strait's birthday.
Also come one man, put your music on Spotify.

One of the absolute best country songs of all time. "I could've missed the pain, but I'd've had to miss the dance". That is country music right there.

"The Dance" was released by Garth Brooks from his self-titled debut album as the album's fourth and final single in April 1990. It became is second number one hit where it remained at the top of the charts for three consecutive weeks. This remained a solid top 5 contender for much of its run and even was one of our #1 contenders as we neared the middle of the rankdown. That was fueled by my top ranking as well as a top two from someguy and two early top 10s from CoJoFan and ClevelandRox. It in fact picked up eleven of its rankings all from within the top 25 with two others coming from within the top half and another two top 5s from Cody Wants Out... and bboat11. Its lowest rankings would come near the last half as both .indulgecountry and LBTrocks placed this in their bottom 10 which in turn was just enough to keep this out of the top 5.

One of the absolute best country songs of all time. "I could've missed the pain, but I'd've had to miss the dance". That is country music right there. Agreed. This is also the song that was used for both of my parents funerals with my fathers in 1990 and then my mothers in 2005, so it's pretty heavy for me to ever listen to without chocking up.

This is a wonderful song, so I will give Garth that credit, but I’m one of the ones who just can’t get past his voice. Martina’s tribute performance of it is far superior imo, and if she had been around in 1990 and been the one to release this song, this would’ve been far higher in my rankings.

I didn’t tank “The Dance” because of Garth, I wouldn’t like that song regardless of who sang it. I’ve always hated the arrangement.

6. Which ‘Class of ’89’ artist will be eliminated first and who will be the last one remaining and/or have multiple songs left? (Clint Black, Garth Brooks, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Alan Jackson, Lorrie Morgan, Travis Tritt) Garth would usually be an obvious answer for first to leave, but "The Dance" and "If Tomorrow Never Comes" should keep him alive well beyond his usual ceiling. Lorrie Morgan will probably be last remaining, as "Five Minutes" will probably keep her alive beyond the biggest hits from any of these others. I may have been wrong about Travis being the one with multiple left in the top 10, but look at me nailing this question otherwise!! Hopefully Lorrie can hang on for the top 3, at minimum!

Here is my prediction:
5. Chains 4. Love Without End, Amen 3. Five Minutes 2. You Lie 1. When I Call Your Name
I'm rooting for Reba or Lorrie to take this, but I definitely think Vince will have the staying power (and the penis!) to help him avoid having any tankers.

Stats for #5:
The first song to exit the top 5 actually only found its way in there at the final moment as before it was hovering just outside of that. While the rankings are quite varied, the lowest ranking came in from a #65 and sees seven participants lose a top 10. Four of those come in the way of a top 5 which does includes someones #1.
Best rankdown position: 5 Worst rankdown position: 65 Average: 24.80 SD Rank: 39th Lowest
Ranking distribution: Top 10s: 7 11 to 25: 2 26 to 50: 2 51 to 75: 4 76 to 90: 0 Bottom 10s: 0

Ah bummer! "Five Minutes" is such an incredible song Although this is a really solid top 5, so getting much further would have been an uphill battle. Although this is at least more of a jam than "Chains"...

"Five Minutes" was released by Lorrie Morgan in January 1990 as the lead single to her debut album Leave the Light On. The song became her first number one hit on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart in April 1990. Despite an initial start outside of the top half, that would end up being its lowest ranking as it would pick up enough support in the first half to bring this into the top 10 once it reached the middle of its run. It was boosted by its first top 10 from myself and then followed up by a #1 ranking from ClevelandRox. It would continue to pick up two additional top 10s along the way from someguy and ccarter1023 as well as top 5s from castleoblivion26 and .indulgecountry. That still was never quite enough to put this in the top 5 and would end up hovering just outside of that towards the last half. The final two lists yet again made an impact as another top 5 from bboat11 and a top 20 from taylor was just what this needed to push this over into what would be its highest ranking position.
