Stats for #4:
The next song managed to dig itself out of the bottom 20 and ended up finding its way into the top 5 towards the last quarter of the rankdown. That leaves only one participant placing this well outside of their top half with the majority of the rankings coming from within the top 20. Three participants lose a top 5 which includes both a #1 and #2 ranking.
Best rankdown position: 4 Worst rankdown position: 82 Average: 21.33 SD Rank: 28th Lowest
Ranking distribution: Top 10s: 6 11 to 25: 5 26 to 50: 3 51 to 75: 0 76 to 90: 1 Bottom 10s: 0

"When I Call Your Name" was released by Vince Gill in May 1990 as the third single and title track from his third studio album. The song reached number 2 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart and features Patty Loveless on background vocals. Despite this starting out in the bottom 20, that would end up being its lowest ranking as the rest would come well within the top half. This quickly found its way into the top 25 early on as it picked up a top 2 from Kanenrá:ke as well as a pair of top 15s. With a #1 ranking from castleoblivion26 and an additional top 10 from Cody Wants Out... coming in the middle of the rankdown, this would then finally find itself in the top 5 for the first time. While it wasn't able to make the leap into the top 3, another top 5 from ccarter1023 and two final top 10s from bboat11 and taylor would close this one out.

"You Lie" was released by Reba McEntire in August 1990 as the first single from her seventeenth album Rumor Has It and would go on to become McEntire's fourteenth number one country hit. This is no doubt a painful loss for many as a total of TEN participants lose a top 10 which includes FOUR #1 rankings from someguy, .indulgecountry, bboat11, and taylor. It also picked up a pair of top 2 rankings from ClevelandRox and Cody Wants Out.... While this would initially start outside of the top 15, it very quickly found itself in the top 2 and before you know it became one of our #1 contenders. The bulk of the rankings for this would actually come from within the top 15 with only two participants even daring to put it outside of their top half.

Very very disappointing reveal. “You Lie” is THE song of 1990 imo and VERY much deserved the win. LBTrocks 🌺CountryLineDancer what on earth are those egregious rankings?!

Welp, time for King George to win him another year-end rankdown!!!!! I thought he'd pick up enough tankers to fall out in the bottom of the top 5, but "Love Without End, Amen" is by far one of the most enduring classics from this year, so I'm thrilled that I was wrong! This would be a well-deserved victory!

There we have it folks! It ended up coming down to Patty Loveless's second career number one hit "Chains" and King George Strait's five week number one hit "Love Without End, Amen". They also come in as two of our least polarizing songs overall with all but one participant ranking "Love Without End, Amen" outside of the top 30 compared to "Chains" which saw no one place it outside of their top half. In fact, the only hiccup that interrupted George's run was .indulgecountry's lone ranking out of the top half which temporarily brought this down into the top 3. He would quickly retake his spot on top of the throne as it would pick up a top 3 from both gardyfan and LBTrocks as well as a top 4 from bboat11. They joined myself inside the top 5 as I placed this in my top 2 as well as ClevelandRox with his top 3. This was more or less George's to lose for the most part as again all but one participant put this in their top 30! Once "Chains" found its way into the top 5 it would remain a fierce top 3 competitor for the duration of its run. While it was never able to take the top spot, no one placed this outside of their top half with the bulk of the rankings coming from within the top 20. Those include a top 10 from .indulgecountry as well as four top 5s from Cody Wants Out..., 🌺CountryLineDancer, castleoblivion26, and a #1 ranking from LBTrocks.
