I pretty much expected “Unforgiven” would be out sooner rather than later as it’s one of Tracy’s more forgotten singles. I hadn’t heard this in a really long time myself and admittedly thought it would end up lower on my list, but after revisiting it I found myself enjoying it more than I remember. "Lie" is the only good song from this album. The other 2 songs can leave asap, too. Completely agree with this as well. I really don’t have too much else to add regarding “Stop Drop and Roll” lol as it was in my bottom 4 after all. "Stairway To Heaven Highway To Hell”, on the other hand, is a jam and I think is one of Tracy’s best releases in quite some time. I admittedly haven’t listened to his most recent album that this is from, but I do plan on spinning that one soon. Anyways, when this was first released I just couldn’t get enough of it and had it on repeat for days.

"Sawdust On Her Halo" is a fine song, but tbh I find it a bit forgettable in the context of Tracy's catalog. It's delightfully country, but I'm not really surprised to see it be a flop. His career had already been cooling down for like 2-3 album eras by this point, and even though this era launched on a successful note with "Paint Me A Birmingham", I imagine there was no momentum left for this song.

I could really take or leave "Sawdust On Her Halo" as it's never been one of my favorite singles from him. I've also long been disappointed that they chose to release this over "A Far Cry from You" which next to "Paint Me a Birmingham" sounded like a solid hit. The album era for Strong turned out to be a weaker one than I would've guessed back then.

"Lie" is the only good song from this album. The other 2 songs can leave asap, too. I actually think it's a really strong album, they just made some confusing choices for the singles outside of "Lie" (especially since they were just releasing them to secondary).

.indulgecountry gets his wish, as our second song from Headlights, Taillights and Radios leaves next! Along with almost everything else we have lost up to this point, I am going to say something along the lines of "I can see why people would hate this, but I personally like it quite a bit", lmao. For some reason this one grew on me more and more with every listen! The chorus is really generic at first, but the way it gets higher near the end adds a feeling of urgency to the melody that I enjoyed. Not sad to see this one go now though. Also 🌺CountryLineDancer I feel like you've been one of the highest rankers of nearly every song for this entire rankdown so far ![:dead:](http://ruadventures.com/forum/Smileys/animated/smiley_resurrect_grave.gif)

The hint was a picture of Gabby Barrett, because "Footprints on the Moon" is the title of her current single at country radio! I was actually a little surprised by how much hate this one got. To me this melody is so catchy! Lol. Like I haven't been able to get this out of my head for weeks now... I can definitely sympathize with finding it to be stupid or something, but there is no doubt that this melody is effective... .indulgecountry finally loses his last place, and the Headlights, Taillights and Radios album suffered back-to-back losses, leaving "Lie" as the only song remaining from that album. How much longer can it last??!

"While You Sleep" has the unfortunate distinction of being the first "flop" of Tracy's radio career. If you look at his chart history, it's basically a string of top 5 hits that lasted for the majority of the '90s. Until The Coast Is Clear tried to go four singles deep in the late '90s. "Better Man Better Off" and "How A Cowgirl Says Goodbye" were both huge top 5 hits, then the title track became his first song to miss the top 20........and then "While You Sleep" immediately became his first song to miss the top 40 altogether :(
This song isn't bad, but it definitely doesn't sound like an essential hit to me. I like the way he delivers this chorus, especially when he sounds so great on the high notes! It's a shame that this was his first flop.

I’d probably like “Blacktop” more if the production was a bit more fine-tuned as the mixing just sounds a bit haggard I guess.
I initially had “Footprints on the Moon” ranked a bit higher, but I liked it less and less with each subsequent listen.
“While You Sleep” likely would’ve been a hit if it had not been for Tracy’s personal life coming to a head at a high point in his career. He was charged with domestic violence during the latter part of the The Coast Is Clear era and it all but derailed any momentum and good will he had built up over the years.

I feel like I underranked "Up To Him", tbh! The more I have listened to this one, the more it sounds like a Tracy classic that fits in perfectly alongside his big hits from the '90s. I think this would have been a huge hit for him if it hadn't come after his radio career was pretty much already over.

I agree and actually think a song like this would've worked very well from something like the Lessons Learned album. Had he released something like this even in 2000 I think it could've been a hit for him.

To me "Life Don't Have To Be So Hard" just feels like Tracy having no idea what to release in light of his chart success continuing to wane, lol. It is admittedly catchy, but it also doesn't scream "hit" to me the way that most of his career did up to this point. It's like he tried to mix it up and do something unique, but it didn't quite work like it was supposed to. Clearly there was still some juice in the tank, as "Paint Me A Birmingham" was a huge hit as the lead single for the next album! Which means that this one was a swing and a miss as a lead single, lol.

While I feel like this is a bit higher on my list than it should be, there's just something about "Life Don't Have To Be So Hard" that I find to be so catchy! It really just makes for a great song to put on while out driving around on a sunny and 75 kind of day.

Tracy's relationship with radio was obviously on thin ice by 2004. After "Paint Me A Birmingham" was one of the biggest hits of his career, "It's All How You Look At It" completely missed the top 30 as the followup single. It probably did what it needed to though, as I'd say "Birmingham" was the outlier at the time. "It's All How You Look At It" did about as well as most of his other songs around this time period! Finishing within a position or two of "Unforgiven", "Life Don't Have To Be So Hard", and "Used To The Pain", and about 10 positions higher than "What A Memory", "Sawdust On Her Halo", and "If I Don't Make It Back", so it can probably be considered a success for what was expected of him at the time!

I've always enjoyed "It's All How You Look At It" well enough I guess, but I never thought it was a good choice as a single to follow up "Paint Me a Birmingham" with. I've already mentioned this, but "A Far Cry from You" would've made for a much better option as a second single, although I suppose there's always the case to be made that the recurrent airplay of PMAB might've impacted any future release from this album.

Tracy's early '00s work continues to get eviscerated today! This probably shouldn't come as too much of a surprise considering the fact that most of his modern songs are gone and he has so many beloved hits from the '90s that wouldn't make sense to leave yet.
"What A Memory" is a touching song about the love between a mother and her son, so it is bound to strike a few of the right chords for some of us. However, similar to "While You Sleep" it also doesn't sound like a huge hit to me. It's great for listening when you're in the right mood, but I'm not surprised to see it miss the top 25 here.
