I'm in (if there's still a spot open)! My favorite YE from the 60s. As many people can send lists here as possible, and you have plenty of time!

As soon as I am finished with classes, I'll add tags for you guys. I might add some extras this week too, though. Hope you guys enjoy. Remember, it's not due until August, but I would love to see some of you to send lists in June and July too.
By the way, a quick question, but has there ever been a song that was #1 on a Year End list but was last in the rankdown?

EXTRA
The Byrds "Turn, Turn, Turn"
This song peaked in late 1965 at #1, but missed the year end for '65 because it peaked too late. The Byrds were folk geniuses, and this was one of their most well-known hits. The lyrics for this song are actually based on Bible verses from Ecclesiastes.

EXTRA
Syndicate of Sound "Little Girl"
Garage rock anthem from Mid-1966 by a band from San Jose.
EXTRA
The Chiffons "Sweet Talking Guy" Chiffons were a group popular in the early to mid 1960's with earlier hits like "He's So Fine" and "One Fine Day". This song barely missed the Year End but was present on an older, unofficial Year End list.

Joan Baez "Farewell, Angelina" This one is from one of the biggest folk singers of this time. It was technically released in 1965 but would have charted in '66.

EXTRA
Donovan "Mellow Yellow"
The soft drink type was actually named after this song. Also, it peaked at #2 in December yet missed the chart while others peaked around the same time even lower yet made the year-end chart. The song was once rumored to be about smoking banana peels, but this is false. Also, Paul McCartney literally appeared on this track in the background.

                   EXTRA
LOVE          "My Little Red Book" Another great track from 1966 that sadly was overlooked on the charts, but Love is easily one of the best garage rock/ psych groups of the 60's in my opinion, so I couldn't miss an opportunity to post this as an extra. Lead singer Arthur Lee would go on to be quite successful as an underground artist.Â

"Wouldn't It Be Nice" is fine and all but I definitely love that song's B-side, *God Only Knows", a lot more.

EXTRA
Isley Brothers "This Old Heart of Mine" One of the top R&B soul groups of all time, from Ohio. These guys had big hits even earlier in the late 1950's to early 1960's and had a hit on the Hot 100 as recently as 2001. The group has been made up of a total of 7 members in total, yet never all at the same time. (The main three in the 60's were Ronald, O'Kelly, and Rudolph. Biggest hits were "Shout", "Twist and Shout", and later "It's Your Thing". Sad fact: One of the brothers, early on, named Vernon actually passed away very young, and this was way before they had their first hit in 1959.
EXTRA
The Association "Along Comes Mary" This was The Association's first hit, before the big one "Cherish". This California band was huge from 1966-1968, but fell quickly like so many 60's bands. But yeah, this sounds so much different than their other hits. They still exist as a band with one original member only. (The song doesn't actually start until around 1:15 in the video, but I really liked the intro)

Used to participate in the Song Tourneys 2014-16, but this looks exciting! I am SO ready for this! Love me some 1960s music! I should have my list in due time, plus the extras.

Thanks, but only the main 100 songs are ranked, we aren't ranking Extras. They're just kinda there to show even more songs. Thanks for the interest!

EXTRA
Tina Turner "River Deep Mountain High"
Tina Turner is from Tennessee and is the Queen of Rock N Roll. She just got inducted into the Hall of Fame without her famous abusive husband, Ike. She continued success on the radio well into the 1980s. This song is quite well known, yet only went to #88 on the Billboard Hot 100. Odd facts: She is actually a Buddhist, and currently lives in Switzerland.
EXTRA
Frank Sinatra "That's Life"
We all know Frank Sinatra, from New Jersey, who had been one of the biggest artists of the 1940s and 1950s and was 50 at the time of this release. Fun fact: He was once investigated by the FBI over alleged mafia ties.

Like all 3; though I'm not huge on Sinatra.

Hey guys. I just want to note that although I am trying to get this done by August 24th, I also want at least 20 lists here, so I may extend this but I wont extend it past 9/13. I would definitely appreciate as many lists as I can. I wont rush anyone to send in lists, though, but I would love to see some lists come in July. I'm gonna try tagging all future extras also. The next two extras are "See See Rider" by the Animals (of "House of the Rising Sun" fame) and "Wang Dang Doodle" by Koko Taylor. I think after that, Dusty Springfield, the Rolling Stones, Gary Lewis and the Playboys, Nancy Sinatra, James Brown, and the Statler Singers will appear as singles. This should probably help the turnout for this RD a bit. Side note, has a Year-End #1 ever been #100 in a pulse rankdown before? I think that's a strong possibility here (not saying I agree, I don't have a strong stance on Ballad Of The Green Berets, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was #100). For that matter, has a Year-End #100 ever been #1 in a pulse rankdown?
