Rankdown hosts don't usually post reminder tags once a month on average (and that number is skewed because 2 of yours were on the same day). That accounts for most of the reason you only have 3 lists.

Hey, guys. I'm sorry I have not been as active as I should be for this rankdown. It's mostly been school, though. I do notice I haven't been tagging people as much as I should have been, which is probably why not many lists have been sent yet. I do hope more people can send lists, though. I am going to move the due date further, but this is the last time I will do this. I would like people to submit their lists in the same format as they are listed on page 1. The new due date will be January 27th, so I hope many of you will turn in some great lists. I am about to show two extras, too. They are The Mamas and the Papas with "I Saw Her Again" and The Temptations with "I'm Losing You". There would then be 16 total extras. Please do message me if you need more time before the deadline, I might make an extension for those purposes. And if you aren't interested, feel free to tell me so (nicely, at least).
And message me or post in this thread if you want to get tagged.
Those who have sent lists: Those who have yet to send lists:

EXTRA The Mamas and the Papas "I Saw Her Again" Better known for "California Dreamin" and "Monday, Monday", this song peaked quite high this year but didn't spend very long on the charts, so it missed the Year end. I think it's actually really good, and probably my second favorite from this year, next to California Dreamin' (To be fair, I only know those three). Interesting fact: The only living individual from the original Mamas and the Papas is Michelle Phillips, and two things she is known for in more recent years are that she was featured in some comedy films and has advocated for legal marijuana. By the way, this song was actually meant to represent Michelle coming back to the band after being replaced for like 3 months.

EXTRA
The Temptations "I'm Losing You" Interesting fact: The lead singer David Ruffin allegedly would occasionally sneak up on stage at concerts after he got fired at some point later in the Temptations career and would end up singing on stage. Also, his brother, Jimmy, has a song on this list too. This could have been their third song on the Year End, but it peaked very late in the year. Also, I put a video with better sound quality in the second spoiler.

Here's a dailymotion video of the year end for 1966. Notice that most songs on the list spent roughly 11-14 weeks, even number-ones, yet many songs today spend over 30-40 weeks. A video like this would sadly be removed for copyright on Youtube because it's much stricter.

EXTRA 13th Floor Elevators "You're Gonna Miss Me" More garage/ psychedelic rock. Only peaked at 55 on the year end
Interesting fact: Not anything to do with the band, but some hotels actually don't name the 13th floor because the number is considered cursed. Also has a cool album cover. {Spoiler}

EXTRA
Dave Clark Five "Over and Over" Honestly not sure if it really belongs on here, since its technically from 1965. However, its 12-week chart run dipped into 1966 while "Sound of Silence" and "We Can Work it Out" charted, and I early put the previous number-one, "Turn! Turn! Turn!" on here too. These guys were apparently viewed as the main rivals of the Beatles in the 1960's, but later became largely forgotten, especially compared to The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Kinks, or Beach Boys.

I'm not posting any more extras tonight, but the next one is possibly one of the craziest songs to ever chart on the Billboard in 1966. I'll probably post it tomorrow or the next day.

Well, so much for that lol. Honestly, I've been stressed lately but no more excuses for me haha. Yep, I've had this rankdown posted for a year but I haven't been active and people aren't sending lists, so I'm just gonna give this list a big fat extra chance. I want to make sure I give an update post every week, and I'll be doing two extras a week, but no more long and drawn out paragraphs for each song. I've only gotten three lists so far, admittedly because I haven't been sending updates and few people seem very interested in stuff from the 1960's, much less whole year end lists. Believe me, this is probably the year end from this decade that's aged the best from the 60's, try looking at the 1963 list for comparison, for example. I've reset the rankdown to be due on April 13th, and it should probably start around April 16th. I do hope I can get at least 15-20 lists in, but even 10 would be okay for me. Good luck!

Alright, everyone, welcome back. I will be posting on here roughly twice a week. Sometimes, I might post an extra or two, or it might be a random video I found interesting that deals with the 1960s. I do want to note that I am in college, so I believe I will end up changing the deadline - but this will be the final time this happens. I have some time off from school in May after roughly May 10th. Therefore, the final due date will be May 16th, 2022, so we have around 12 weeks left for this rankdown. For those who already sent lists, sorry for keeping you waiting, but not many people have sent lists, and it wouldn't be much of a rankdown with less than 8 participants. I'm hoping for 15-20 participants, roughly. Maybe even 25 if I'm lucky, but I don't want to push it too much. At least by May 17th or 18th, the rankdown should start, and I think the format will be 15 songs per day until we get to #11, and then the top 10. Please do message me if you want to be added to the tag list. I would also say definitely listen to the songs several times, it's definitely better that way. So don't feel any need to rush I might also list five songs each reveal as "focus" songs for the week/ half-week, etc. No purpose really other than to draw more attention to specific songs. This week, the five songs are: Rainy Day Women #12 and #35 - Bob Dylan [#82] Sweet Pea - Tommy Roe [#44] Zorba the Greek - Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass Band [#98] The Pied Piper - Crispian St. Peters [#69 nice] Sunny - Bobby Hebb [#27] Feel free to message me on which one was the best, but I won't reveal which ones were favored until right after the rankdown is over. I want to see if the songs most favored are also ranked the highest on the rankdowns each time. But I definitely promise that the rankdown is due on May 16th and will give many updates and reminders.

Agree, I thought this was a rather strong year. Top 2/3 were great. There were only a handful that I couldn't stomach. My #100 is one of the above.

I'd say its probably the best year end list of the 1960s, although the ones from 1964 to 1969 were all somewhat strong. The pre-1964 ones were filled with songs that just didn't seem interesting though.

the only way to get more lists is to stick to a deadline...if people know you will keep giving extensions, they will procrastinate so they can finish other lists that are due sooner - this is true of me anyway, but i'm sure it's true of many others here

No more extensions after this. It's mostly personal stuff I'm trying to work on, honestly. I will say I'm trying to get better at this.

So much for not extending this...
This time it should be the last. Yes, I know I've said that way too many times, but it looks like I'll be on a trip on 5/16. The due date is now May 21st.

I'm probably not gonna do this rankdown, can I be untagged please? I'll make sure to remove you in the next tag. But I'm just curious, why don't you want to do this? (Not trying to force anyone, just curious ) Just tell me if you later want to view the results, we still have 2 months.

I'm not generally into oldies, and this would likely be like 98 songs I haven't heard haha, and I don't have the interest to listen to them all. I'm sorry!
