This should probably help the turnout for this RD a bit. Side note, has a Year-End #1 ever been #100 in a pulse rankdown before? I think that's a strong possibility here (not saying I agree, I don't have a strong stance on Ballad Of The Green Berets, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was #100). For that matter, has a Year-End #100 ever been #1 in a pulse rankdown? I honestly can't see anything else that would be #100, except maybe something almost nobody is gonna care about like "Almost Persuaded", which is just kinda dull. Even things like "Lil Red Riding Hood", "Born a Woman", or "Winchester Cathedral" will likely have some people rank them in the top 50. I dont see hardly anyone ranking BOTGB very high at all, since it also seems more like a commercial jingle than an actual song.

Hey everyone, I just want to note that this rankdown is being extended to October 3rd for the deadline to turn in your lists. Also, I most likely wont turn in a list for my own rankdown, but I want to note a few songs that I feel may get overlooked but hopefully many of you can put in the top 50 or near it: "Working in a Coal Mine", "I'm Your Puppet", "B-A-B-Y", "Love is a Hurtin' Thing", and "Woman". I definitely see the first 3 making the top 50 but not sure about the last 2. I dont think the actual rankdown will start until around 10/04 or 10/05. I still would love to see some of you turn in the lists in August though. I might not post any more Extras for a couple of weeks either. So far I've done 14, and I'm trying to get about 100 extras from all genres by the end of the rankdown. I think the rankdown will be around 7 days, with the bottom 10 revealed first, then 90-76, 75-61, 60-46, 45-31, 30-21, 20-11, and finally the top 10. My goal by the way is to have at least 20 participants, though I'd love to have even more. in. A commercial jingle for the counterproductive boondoggle that was the Vietnam War.

Wouldn’t It Be Nice, Turn x3 & Mellow Yellow all failing to make the cut? WOW! it’s simply unjust Agree completely. The first two would have been definite Top 5 contenders at minimum. Just starting to work this list, this is going to be interesting.

Mellow Yellow peaked in December 66 at #2 and didnt make it yet "Coming On Strong" peaked in December at 11 and made the year end chart. But Turn Turn Turn peaked very late in 65 and still was on the chart in early 66 so it was caught between years (but went to #1). Wipeout made it on the Year end but was a hit from '63 that was re-released in '66 and only peaked at like 16.

Hey guys, I haven't posted much recently, but I want to go over the plans for this rankdown. I would like to get at least 20 participants, and I'll start the rankdown around October 11th if I have 20 lists in, or I'll extend it after 10/11 until whenever I have at least 20 participants, but not after around early December. If I hit 20 lists between 10/11 and 12/01, then I'll give everyone an extra 2 weeks to send a list or edit their own list. But I'll continue adding around one extra per week and sometimes a general 60's related video.

Also, if you are planning to contribute a list here, can you also message me? So far, I have two lists and I want some lists around mid to late September. Hope y'all enjoy the playlist if you haven't heard it. I'd certainly listen multiple times though.

Won't be participating in this but here's what my Top 10 of the year would be: 1. Paint It Black 2. California Dreamin' 3. Secret Agent Man 4. The Sound of Silence 5. Uptight (Everything's Alright) 6. Homeward Bound 7. Wild Thing 8. 19th Nervous Breakdown 9. We Can Work It Out 10. Summer in the City well that kinda sucks , because just the fact that you have the iconic Creed as your avatar could mean you would help some of my favorite songs out.

Hey guys, I'm gonna start doing an activity where I list 5 songs every few days or so. I'm not going to tag you all for each time I do this, but I will occasionally. Anyway, I want people to decide which one they like the most and the least, and then DM me (I'd rather have anyone spoil their future rankings to other players). A few days later, I'll announce the winner and the last place of the five songs. It's just to help people get engaged. P.S I hope I'm not bothering people with this. I've never made a rankdown before this, so I'm just trying to make sure. Anyway, the five songs are as follows - Winchester Cathedral - New Vaudeville Band (#18) - A Groovy Kind of Love - The Mindbenders (#34) - Bang, Bang - Cher (#60) - Message to Michael - Dionne Warwick (#77) - I Fought the Law - Bobby Fuller Four (#95) I'm trying to get the responses for these five in at 11 PM on 9/04.

Just FYI, I think the version of Crying Time (Ray Charles) in the Spotify list is not the 1966 version but a subsequent duet w/ Barbra Streisand from 1973. Here's what I think is the original 1966 version. They sound rather different IMO.
I'm close to submitting. There's more good stuff in 66 than I thought there would be...

The original isn't on Spotify so I understand why it's there, but I believe this is the version that was actually popular in 1966: I guess this means we'll get to page 5 in February 2022

Just submitted. Very solid top 60, the bottom 15 I could have probably done without.
Turn, Turn, Turn and Wouldn't it be Nice would have definitely made my Top 3. I think my #1 would have remained the same regardless.
Looking forward to this.

Hey guys. I moved the due date to October 23rd. I will probably still add around 2 or 3 extras each week, but I'm not going to ask anyone to rank 5 songs again, I did get 3 responses though, and the winner was "I Fought the Law". The next were "Message to Michael", "Bang Bang", "A Groovy Kind of Love", and dead last was "Winchester Cathedral". I might extend the list after the new due date, since I'm trying to get 20 submissions (so far I have 3, from singingrulebritannia , DJ DaveMick69, and gonecountry). That's 17 to go, neat! I do strongly encourage everyone to use the Spotify playlists and maybe listen at least twice (some have a better or different version, like "Beauty is only skin deep", "Crying time", "Winchester cathedral", and "Born Free". I don't really care which version people listen to. Also, If I were A Carpenter isn't on the playlist, and another 1966 Spotify playlist exists but it is missing almost 10 songs. The one I posted is missing only one song and is by a user named kassandra8286. But yeah, just let me know (DM me) if you won't be able to compete in this and want to be untagged from the thread. Anyway, here is a Billboard Hot 100 video where clips of the songs and videos are played, it is on Dailymotion (probably because they aren't as likely to get hit with copyright claims). Also, kind of odd how short most of these chart runs are. So many only spent 11-12 weeks, even including #1 songs, especially when songs today on the Hot 100 often spend over 40 weeks. www.dailymotion.com/video/x6t7psk

I'm Delaying the due date to December 6th, guys. But I'll still have 2 extras per week generally. There might be some weeks I do not add extras, but generally I will. I understand so many users won't be able to get a list in within the next month, so I think this is the best option. I'm also probably gonna ask for some help in completing a rankdown, since I'm pretty new to this also.

Guys, Im going to actually move the due date to to after the New Years, which is also my birthday. I want to have some extra time to promote the rankdown, since only 3 people have sent lists in, and I'm hoping to have more people in the rankdown. Even people who arent incredibly interested in 60s music could easily enjoy this stuff. Anyway, the new due date will be January 6th. I'm also going to be doing finals and things like that, which is going to end on December 13th.
