What BTS fans don't realize is that those kind of mass buying tricks and calling them underdogs make people dislike or even hate BTS. After reading some of the essays here, i will never listen a BTS song again, you can buy a hot 100 number one spot but none of them will be as iconic as Gangnam Style.

Gangnam Style not going to #1 was Billboard’s fault, more so than Maroon 5. Billboard waited until 2013, and of course had to interrupt Thrift Shop’s run at #1, to implement streaming into the Hot 100 formula.

Eh, don't feel too bad for Thrift Shop it got its run at 1 and topped the YE chart that year even if it did lose out that spot to a lesser, instrumental, meme song in Harlem Shake (I resent the fact that it was the 4 biggest song of the year)

Both BTS and their fans are well aware that there are plenty of people who dislike them, just like there are with any popular act, whether it be due to jealousy, xenophobia, a grudge against their fans, or just a dislike of their music. Even the Beatles get hate all the time on twitter, that hasn't stopped them from being the most successful band of all time tho. |

Try reading the endless essays here from BTS fans who try to insist that we *should* like him that not liking them is mere prejudice. Judging from the reasons you assumed, you likely seem to be missing the boat. To try to think of BTS as anywhere close to the best and most successful acts of all time is pretty risible.

I'm not here to speak for their fans, and it does seem to me that the most prevalent reason for disliking them on this forum is a grudge against their fans. You don't have to like BTS at all, nobody is forced to like any act. Also, of course they are not the most successful act of all time, they've been around for less than a decade while most of the top acts have been around for several decades. However, at their current rate of growth, their all-time success in the future very well could be enough to rival some of the current all-time titans. |

They love to do that with any online community that isn't immediately kissing BTS's feet or isn't otherwise full of Armys. r/popheads has been getting brigaded by BTS fans since Dynamite came out because they're trying to astroturf support for them on the subreddit. they're downvoting any comment that tilts negative against BTS while upvoting puff pieces and overly positive comments I'm surprised they haven't just brigaded this forum already. not that I want them to do it |

your wish is my command. reorganized last week's Top 30 using numbers from TOTC and a formula that I mentioned before where: • the best-selling song gets 100 chart points, the rest of the songs get a fraction based on how their performance compares to the sales leader, • the best-streaming song gets 600 chart points, the rest of the songs get a fraction based on how their performance compares to the streaming leader, • the most radio-played song gets 300 chart points, the rest of the songs get a fraction based on how their performance compares to the airplay leader. in sum, a song that tops all three metrics in the same week would be guaranteed to be the No. 1 with 1000 points. the 1:6:3 ratio is based on industry average. you can see how it differs from the actual Hot 100 (dated 6/19) in the second column.  this is way better then billboard |

I wish their fans realised that constantly trying to peddle certain narratives about them being "massive underdogs" despite their albums selling millions of copies worldwide—on top of trying to astroturf support in Western pop-focused communities (like r/popheads) that don't already have a lot of BTS fans—will only make more people inclined to dismiss them. There aren't a lot of people who want to interact with a group whose fans are literally harassing entire communities because the said communities aren't full of fans of their favourite group. It's just a bad look all around. Armys really just aren't savvy to the fact that forced support =/= genuine support. |
