^ Yes, but not when you buy one song (version) 4 times.

Yeah Billboard needs to adjust it's rules and that cannot be said enough
It's a bit of a circus right with the whole BTS fiasco highlighting the issues, I don't hate BTS at all but like the whole mess with Dynamite and Butter is annoying to watch play out and the way most there fans react is obnoxious.
They be winning on the charts with big debuts and getting radio play but apparently that's not enough and they love to act oppressed. I know a lot of fans aren't like that,my sister and her circle are BTS and K-Pop fans in general but like they act reasonable and focus on the music and not the chart wars lol

Per Merriam-Webster: Definition of battery 1a: the act of beating someone or something with successive blows : the act of battering (see BATTER entry 1 sense 1) b.law : an offensive touching or use of force on a person without the person's consent Seems like a good reason to arrest someone no? Statement from his mother

^ So we’re not talking much about this but the BTS ‘fraud’ topic that has been going on for a month now. You gotta love Pulse sometimes..

If it is fraud, who is being defrauded by it? The fans of the #2 artist? Honestly, this is a good question. I suppose for me, the people being defrauded would be the chart watchers and people who believe (or are led to believe) that is an accurate representation of popularity and/or consumption. So, in the end, it doesn’t really matter. It’s not unlike how the Grammys have lost significance over the years. You can say “so and so has 7 Grammys” just like like you can say “so and so has 4 number ones on the Hot 100.” It either means something or it doesn’t. Gradually it’s move more toward the latter. As a fan of charts, it sucks, but eventually, we’ll all have to move on one way or another.

That doesn't mean they don't have fans, as their Greatest Hits album was at #75 in the Billboard 200 last week with over 300 weeks. That, even though it didn't even manage to chart in Top Album Sales. Which means songs in that compilation must be getting streamed enough for that position. Tbh the streams mostly come from Chicken Fried. Would rather see The Foundation charting and overtake Fearless as longest charting country album (that is not compilation).

So we charge billboard with a crime because there are too many BTS fans out there buying up the music. My advice. If you have an issue with it. Do your part and don’t buy the music yourself. Can you please stop acting like you don't understand what everyone means. You sound like a f**king elementary school teacher. "It's MAY I got to the bathroom not CAN I go the bathroom" while the child who asked is currently pissing their pants. Get out of here with that bulls**t. What is being done is still not okay. "Fraudulent" or not, it's still a few hundred to a couple thousand people manipulating and exploiting loopholes to game a system, and people are pissed about that. How you focus on their word choice and not the actual topic they're discussing just to anger them (or what, teach them a lesson?) is just plain ridiculous. The world isn't going to end because people use an incorrect word choice to be slightly hyperbolic about chart manipulation. Mr. Ackshually strikes again.

Sales should count for what it is. Buy a song. Costs a dollar. Stream for free. I would say a person spending the dollar is more vested in the song than someone who randomly streams it Like it or not. Sales are still a measurement of popularity. Yes, sales are ONE measurement of popularity but not the be all end all We've told this time after time after time after fucking time that when it comes to the general public consumption of music via medium: streaming >>> airplay > sales. Yes, streaming and radio can also be manipulated, no one is saying they can't. But you are being fallacious by equivocating the two when sales is not on the same level as either. A few weeks ago, AITO was the top selling song of the week despite selling less than 12K. To quote Spongebob Also Billboard hasnt been a revenue chart ever since YouTube, UGC, and Streaming were implemented. And even if we go by revenue, good 4 u beats Butter in overall units.

Willow has been posting some massive Spotify gains these past few days omg Any particular reason why? The "evermore" vinyls were shipped last week, but I don't think that played a role. Not sure if there's any TikTok viral moment attached to it either. Happy about it, though 😊

Oh yeah! Didn't the song already enter the Bubbling Under last week? Seems like it could become a potential hit, and Willow Smith would no longer be considered a novelty one hit wonder to the GP. This will be exciting to follow!
My bad on the confusion 💀

transparentsoul really needs support on radio to sustain longevity. Alt is too busy pushing Imagine Dragons, AJR, Weezer, and Coldplay down our throats so perhaps calling in to request transparentsoul might help?

looks like there will be less predictions for awhile . The predictions are reserved for their Twitter, they'll still be able to do them. EDIT: Fuck Billboard for taking down a site that was doing Chart news and updates better than them. Give all your love to smash and tanooki for all their hard work

Sadly, when the main distributor of music charts in the US is a business and not the Library of Congress, this is what happens. Shame, that GOAT list feature was fantastic for looking up songs/artists and their chart runs.

So…what about when Gary posts the charts here in full? 🤔 They are published in several places, Acharts.co posts Hot 100 and album chart for instance. I don't know the whole picture of course, but it's probably the additional info (all-time rankings etc) that are the red flag for Billboard.

I think it also didn't help that TOTC's social media presence is well-known by both stans and regular chart-watchers, as evidenced by Billboard having to revise the 5/15 chart due to faulty stats in the top 10 and delaying the 5/22 chart due to a sales audit at the very top. I'm sure if ChartData, another well-known chart-watching resource on Twitter, had started a site very similar to TOTC's, they'd be smacked with a copyright notice from Billboard as well. Hopefully TOTC will be able to continue publishing their weekly and their Year-End predictions on Twitter. I'd be sad if they had to stop those altogether because of Billboard's greed.

Unfortunately, I inquired and was informed that the Cease and Desist extended to their social media presence as well, so there’s no way for them to convey predictions anymore.

Maybe it’s time to acknowledge this one. You should give yourself a little more credit. It is just you I don’t like. Not everyone But on posting charts or not I do it to be helpful but if it is not and they are widely posted elsewhere anyway. I will stop
