I'm just flat on the floor about Renegade Runaway making the top 15. As much as I've wanted to and tried, I've never been able to get into it AT ALL.

The production on this song is insane.

ClevelandRox managed to use his shock to manifest the exit of "Renegade Runaway" next! Although he shouldn't be surprised to see it in the top 15, because not only was it a top 15 contender, it was actually a top 10 contender for the entire rankdown until the final stretch of the submissions, even managing to be a top 5 for a few lists! Its finish here is lower than it was at any other time, unfortunately for the fans of the song. This was one of my immediate favorites on Storyteller, from the moment the "Smoke Break" music video came out and this one was teased as a song being played on the radio in Carrie's car!!! The production is a little heavy handed, but I love the melody and the tempo so much. I have long wanted this to be a single from the album, and for awhile even had hope that it would be after the way the singles were released in reverse-chronological order from the tracklist... ("Smoke Break" was track 5, "Heartbeat" was #4, "Church Bells" #3, and then "Dirty Laundry" #2. So I will always think RR was on deck to be a potential 5th release if they had gone with one.)

If you couldn’t already tell, Storyteller is my least favorite album of hers

Lol @ all those low ranks. Mess. "Choctaw" hands down belonged in the top 10. What an incredible and inventive song this is. I'm still sad they didn't put this out as a fifth single from the album.

There it is, our most polarizing song, and our first MULTI #1 loss!!!! Unlike "Renegade Runaway", "Choctaw" was actually able to finish at its highest placement of the entire submission process, as its hate came disproportionately in the first half and it spent the majority of the rankdown trying to recover. It was as low as the bottom 5 when we got enough lists for an album tracks rankdown to normally close... How wild would that have been?!!?! And then it was never really a top 20 contender until the final 1/4 of the rankdown.
This one will make a lot of people really happy, and a lot of people really sad... I was personally a bit shocked by just how polarizing this one was, as it is pretty much always lauded as the biggest missed hit on the Storyteller album! Maybe its fans are just really really loud?
And just like that, "Chaser" is now the final song remaining on Storyteller!

I totally agree. I probably would have ranked it at #1 in a singles rankdown. Easily the best thing she’s ever done.

If you couldn’t already tell, Storyteller is my least favorite album of hers See, that was a perfectly valid opinion for someone to have.....until the Cry Pretty album came out I think she'd have to try really hard to come out with a worse album than that...

Storyteller is the quintessential Carrie Underwood album.

Reveals! Yay!
People actually like Choctaw County Affair? Are we listening to the same song? It is an acquired taste I suppose...and it's very different from anything else she's done, so perhaps that's the issue. Either way, BYE!
I'm sorry...the Storyteller album being better than the Cry Pretty album? Oh no. Oh no no no. Cry Pretty being her worst album? Definitely not...have you listened to Play On?
EDIT: You Won't Find This was robbed, yet I'm not entirely surprised to see it out.

I consider "You Won't Find This" to be the unsung hero of this top 15. I'm shocked to see it do this well, because I don't think I have ever heard even one person ever talk about it, whereas every other song to place this high is pretty commonly praised. YWFT feels like a song that nobody really cares about in comparison to everything else that's still in.
That being said, the melody is SO good, and it is just a solid, pleasant listen!!!! I am really glad to see it do this well, because I have always felt it was on the underrated side of her catalog. Other than a small blip at the beginning this was a solid top 15 contender for most of the rankdown, also making it one of our most consistent songs that didn't bounce around a whole lot once it settled into the range it was going to finish in.

Everything in the vicinity of the top 20 of my list would probably be a top 10 for me in any other rankdown. “You Won’t Find This” has a great melody and its instrumentation is ear candy

EDIT: You Won't Find This was robbed, yet I'm not entirely surprised to see it out. Lmao surely you didn't miss everybody clamoring for it to be a single for the entirety of the time that the Storyteller era was current? And my least favorite song from Play On would probably be in my top half of Cry Pretty... Edit: Of course favorite albums are really subjective, and it is really fascinating for me to hear why people love or dislike the ones that they do! So if anyone else wants to share their opinions on the albums as a whole, that would be more than welcome if it promotes some healthy discussion!!!

Okay, now y'all went and did it..... "Starts With Goodbye" is like everything that is worth loving about Carrie. Like if you put her entire career into a generator that analyzed the structure and components of everything and then you asked it to create a song based on what it hears, it would probably create something that sounds just like this. Suffice it to say, I love everything about this one. The explosive chorus is absolutely perfect. The way those low ranks kept pouring in though.... I definitely wasn't expecting this one to be our second most polarizing song!! It sounds to my ears like it should the type of song that everybody could agree is just about perfect...

Didn't miss it, just didn't think people were serious about wanting Carrie to end her own career by releasing that song as a single. Okay I'll stop now. I think I've made my point. Favorite albums are an acquired taste for sure! I could see an argument to be had for each of Carrie's albums being the favorite or the least favorite: - Some Hearts is a fantastic album and possibly her most consistent album to date...yet, aside from the singles, nothing really "stands out" as the "best" song of Carrie's.
- Carnival Ride is also fantastic, but the production on the best songs leaves much to be desired.
- Play On is so hit or miss...we have gems like Someday When I Stop Loving You, yet we also get songs like Unapologize and Undo It. The singles were also a mess this era.
- Blown Away is half gem, half crap. There's no in between, making it possibly her least consistent album to date...yet, it also contains some of her best songs to date.
- If Some Hearts is her most consistent album to date, then Storyteller might be her most cohesive album to date. The difference: the Some Hearts tracks are generally better, but the Storyteller tracks tend to flow better together/have a tighter theme and sound surrounding them. However, as we see in this rankdown, Storyteller also seems to be her most polarizing album to date.
- Cry Pretty is a personal favorite because I think this is the closest we've ever come to seeing Carrie through and through. There are some duds, but even the duds aren't too too bad and the gems more than make up for it.

As you can see, "Flat On The Floor" rose up to #1 pretty quickly, and managed to stay there for 5 lists (or about 1/5 of the rankdown!) It ended up falling quickly though, so while it was a top 5 for the first half of the submissions, all of a sudden it was barely making the top 10 for the second half of submissions.
I have aways been a little shocked by just how well loved this one is. Like to me it is good, but it has always had people treat it like it's the best song of her entire career, and I definitely don't understand THAT level of love for it. I definitely would have rather seen it in the top 10 over one song that is left though...
