I kind of expected my No. 34 to make the top 10. I was in a really bad car accident a few years ago and that song was playing during the crash, so now every time I listen to it I'm reminded of the crash. I realize that's a very selfish reason to rank it No. 34, but it truly is unlistenable to me now. Otherwise...good top 10!

If you couldn’t already tell, Storyteller is my least favorite album of hers  See, that was a perfectly valid opinion for someone to have.....until the Cry Pretty album came out  I think she'd have to try really hard to come out with a worse album than that... I am so tired of the Cry Pretty slander. It's got "That Song" and "Southbound," yes, but it was experimental in its sound, rather than being Blown Away 3 (as much as I love Storyteller, it's Blown Away 2 tbh). I like that, and I like the chemistry that she and David Garcia have. I want him on CU9, because his efforts on CP were amazing. "Backsliding" is the HAC/CHR crossover, Hot 100 #1 smash that got away. "Drinking Alone" is underrated by the entire world. "Kingdom" is such a beautiful picture of where she is with the family she has made. And don't get me started on the 1-2-3 knockout punch that is "Cry Pretty," "Ghosts," and "Low." Also "Get Out Of This Town" is the multi-week #1 smash that never was. The melody in the entire song is so beautiful and her vocal in this is incredible.

This rankdown has already reminded me of how strong of a catalog she has. I feel like it’s been easy for some to dismiss CU as the defacto-“boy basher” singer because of many of her bigger singles, but damn. Deep dive into her records and there’s a slew of gems, and gems that she’s had a heavy hand in co-writing, at that.

6 of the top 10 is amazing, especially after 2 of my slam dunks had shock exits. I guess they were replace by 2 I never thought in a million years would make the Top 10 so it balances out.

“Choctaw” was too ahead of its time for some of you.
It randomly got included in her Summer festival shows this year, so I’m pretty sure she’ll be performing it in Vegas. :)

#13 was my first perfect ranking, I was thinking I wouldn't have any lol
So sad to see "Flat On the Floor" gone, this song will always have a special place in my heart as it actually introduced me to Carrie (I'm from Brazil so I didn't even knew her hits and I wasn't a fan at country music at that point). Then I loved it so much that I decided to listen to more of her stuff.

"Spinning Bottles" is gorgeous, but it's mid-tier for me among her album cuts. A #2 finish for it in this RD would've seemed a bit high imo, but I'm impressed it pulled out 4 #1 ranks!

We're going to go ahead and kick off this top 10 with our primary #2 contender I tell you, this rankdown is OUT OF CONTROL!!!! This was of course a hint for "Spinning Bottles", quoted directly from the end of the chorus, but I think I had the reveal ready too quickly for anybody to catch it. "Spinning Bottles" was our primary #2 contender, settling in there for nearly half the submission process, until the last few lists absolutely TRIED IT!!!! I know I talk a lot of shit about the Cry Pretty album, but there are some incredible gems to be found on that album without a doubt, and this was one of my immediate favorites from the first moment I listened through the album  Carrie's vocal here is sooooooo beautiful, controlled, nuanced, and powerful. I love the way she trills her voice on "bathroom floor" in the second chorus. This is a true career highlight, and I was pretty mad that it got tanked out of the top 5 at the last minute, but at least it stayed in the top 10. |

Some of you may be surprised to see that the big fan-favorite power-ballad from the Play On album not only manages to leave at #9 here, but was also not really a top 10 contender at all until the very last possible moment of the rankdown!!!! This one had a rocky start, but in the end the fact that slightly more than half of us put it in our own top 10s helped it to have a nice rebound. With this loss, "Quitter" is the lone holdout from Carrie's third effort! Based on comments throughout the rankdown, I feel like that is pretty unexpected to y'all |

zaclord 🌈 got the hint right. The gifs were of the scene in Meet The Parents where Gaylord is smoking on the roof.........similar to what our beloved duo in TNB(LGO) is doing on the night before they have to move on with their lives and likely say goodbye forever! With this loss, Some Hearts is officially our first regular album to be eliminated :'( Although all the albums made it to the top 10, so that's nice!!! I'm sad to see it go first, but at least it didn't get trounced by the other albums. This song is really unique in Carrie's catalog, as I really can't think of anything else like it. As somebody who was only in early middle school when Carrie's debut came out, this song has changed throughout my life more than most songs have. At first I was a little boy who couldn't really relate to it, and then I was the one in a high school relationship feeling college start to loom perniciously, to actually leaving to go off to college, to now being somebody who is all done with the whole college experience... But this song has never gotten any less great through any of it I'm glad to see it in the top 10!
