Both The Weeknd and Dua have stretched out their eras and I love it, feels like the early 2010's again when each era had their own theme and felt like events that lasted up to 2 years. Teenage Dream comes to mind immediately, 6 singles deep and 2 reissued singles throughout 2010-2012.
I think the last time this happened was maybe Bruno Mars with 24K Magic, he was still pumping out singles well over a year after release.

I wouldn't count One Day or Prisoner as being from this project because, well, they aren't. They're tacked on to inflate streaming numbers and that's that. They mainly exist to support the projects by their lead artists. But otherwise, yeah, there have 8 singles originating from this project to have been released in certain parts of the world. Here in the US, Love Again is "only" single 5 though. 1. Don't Start Now 2. Break My Heart 3. Levitating 4. We're Good 5. Love Again All these singles, though, and none of them are Cool or If It Ain't Me. Shame. Break My Heart and especially We're Good could have stayed album tracks. I love We're Good especially the chorus and...well...Break My Heart went #1, so obviously, it was the right choice to be released.

Theyβre right to milk the era. Itβs a career-breakthrough for Dua that is high quality enough to sustain the foundation of her career for the next ten years. Like, in 5 years, people will still be loving Future Nostalgia. Absolutely the right move, since the music is good enough, and radio/GP are still here for her.
That said, I prefer βCoolβ and βPretty Pleaseβ to this.

Manifesting this becomes a big enough hit where it'll last her to the Grammys and become her 4th #1 on Pop this era.

In that case, If It Ain't Me just sounds like a watered-down version of material that made the original album. With much stronger material remaining on the standard edition, it makes perfect sense why it wasn't released. At least We're Good sounded different, even if that sound was better suited to her debut.

If we got the final mix of the album version of If It Ain't Me with Normani's parts being readded and polished then I'd do take it as a single
Otherwise I don't want it at all, too bad Normani retired from making music

My ideal single choice would probably have been to re-release "If It Ain't Me" with its original Normani feature and thus get some healthy streaming support, as I think "Love Again" is guaranteed to be uneven/radio-heavy upon release, especially in the initial weeks of the campaign. That said, it is a phenomenal song and I'm happy she's releasing another single now instead of trying to push "We're Good" more. The video has 0 replay value for me (haven't watched it a second time yet), making it her first dud this era visually. my personal ranking of the songs released as singles, considered the whole package including videos, different versions, etc.:1. Levitating 2. Don't Start Now 3. Physical 4. Hallucinate 5. Break My Heart 6. Love Again7. Fever 8. We're Good EDIT: HamedM1 π beat me to bringing up the Normani version as the next single π

Has anyone seen Song Exploder on Netflix? There's an episode about this song, and everything that went into creating it. Side note - it's not exactly accurate that it samples White Town's "Your Woman", though that's where most people recognize it from. White Town sampled that line too - it's from a much older song.

^ I mean, sort of. Liar, Shameless, and My Oh My were the only three that went to radio (besides Senorita).
But that rollout was an unmitigated disaster and masterclass in how not to promote an album.

This song is a bop and I'm glad they're still milking this masterpiece of an album.

I'm one-woman boycotting her thread until she actually releases a full song in any capacity, but I do think that leaked Hilfiger ad is a sign that they actually have concrete plans for it in Q3. I just don't understand why they're sitting on it this long. Normani has found a way to monetize trolling her fans and cannot be arsed.

OK OK I'll watch the Song Exploder thing. she was on the podcast (ep. 194) discussing the making of "Levitating" and on the Netflix show discussing "Love Again." both were engaging imo, you definitely should check them out.

I think they are still waiting a little for Levitating to officially peak, especially since it almost crossed a million streams again today.

Yeah at this point just let "Levitating" do it's thing. It's #3 with little effort on the Hot 100 right now, and it's gonna remain popular for a while.

So why was this moved to Pop? is currently under Cool New Music at Pop on AllAccess That's one of the things that warrants a pop thread. Also, it wasn't moved. This is an entirely new thread.

watching her on Song Exploder talking about Love Again you can tell she really really loves this song, one of her favorites from FN (she said it too on Tiny Desk concert). Hope the best for this song.
by the way i enjoyed a lot the video, so metaphoric, didnt understand nothing but thats why i liked it (?)

From Mediabase: Canada-Top 40 ...number 35! (all early adds, hasn't been officially sent to pop in Canada yet) 127 35 DUA LIPA Love Again 231 22 209 0.957
(EDIT.. for context, the number one song in Canada now is Peaches with 1928 spins.. so to compare to the US, spins differ by a factor of around 10.. so this would be equivalent to about 2310 early add spins for a new song in the US)
