I understand You Right has a big feature with The Weeknd, more radio friendly, and has a video already but...ugh
Need to Know deserved so much than to just be promo filler. They could've at least sent one to Hip-Hop stations or maybe it could be "leaked" on TikTok to build up hype. Need to Know >>>>>>>>>> the rest of Planet Her

With the still fresh Sour it makes sense, but the length that BL and SYT have coexisted on the charts is really impressive in this age. I know there’s debate to be had over wanting to see BL break the record or just being tired of it and wanting it to leave already, but props to The Weeknd for maintaining two stable top 20 hits from a now “old” album for months.
SYT makes me wonder though. We have seen many songs like Say So and Whats Poppin and Savage Love peak in the last couple years with a remix, only for the original to go on to be THE de facto or more preferred version of the song. There are just as many exceptions of course like OTR and Savage.
But I can’t tell at all how which version of SYT will be sought out in 2-3 years time though. You all think it will be original or Ariana remix?

^Hard to say. I think the public will end up deciding which version will remain. Another remix you forgot to mention is the one for Perfect, which also ended up yielding to the original as the version of record for most people which is the opposite that happened to Savage.

Will there be a chart today due to the observed holiday?

^No top 10 article. The Billboard 200 article yesterday said the actual charts will be refreshed Wednesday. So the top 10 Hot 100 article should come out tomorrow.

I didn’t even know the remix for Save Your Tears has been more popular than the original.

^It continues to be more streamed on Spotify and is the only version on Apple Music's top 200. It is also the only charting in the iTunes top 100.

Personally to me The original is better. The second person on the song screws with the meaning , if you both want each other back then why not just have that relationship?

Up had great longevity but is it me or does this sound like a non-event after the phenomenon that was WAP? It was a big win for Cardi but overall I feel like it came and went and won't be one of her signature hits. That said when you are already halfway into reaching double digits in terms of #1 hits, some of them are bound to be less memorable than others. I wish she would finally start rolling her next album tho. I agree. “Up!” feels like it’s really trendy and it doesn’t really have Cardi’s personality on it like how her other songs do. I feel like “Body” by Megan will be far more remembered than “Up!” despite the latter having far more chart success. I would say it’s probably her weakest #1 but coming after WAP it did what it was supposed to. It would feel bizarre to add it on her next album. They are better off just leaving it as a stand alone like “Money.”

All I know is that Kiss Me More will be more remembered than Body, Up, and WAP. This is a reach. I love “Kiss Me More” but it’s pretty non-eventful outside of radio and streaming. WAP was a pop cultural phenomenon.

Wap is the only one of those 4 that feels like something people talked about IRL, as opposed to works played fairly often (inc on tik tok) before the public moved onto something else and left them behind.

^WAP will be remembered by the controversy it caused. Not as much for its musical merit.

^it’s both really. Not only did it cause a vocal outrage from the Tucker Carlsons and Ben Shapiros of the world, critics and listeners also really liked it. WAP is actually the aggregated #1 pick for most critically acclaimed song released in the year 2020, per AcclaimedMusic. Everywhere from RS to NPR had it as their #1 best.

Another country song in the top 10 Only imminent before a Country hit crosses over to Pop/HAC at the same time and is a huge radio #1. Maybe even Hot 100 #1 given the Luke/Morgan/etc era of them now doing notable streams.

"WAP's" controversy is part of it's musical merit tbh. The controversial lyrics are part of the musical composition.
I love "Body" but I do feel like it came and went.

"WAP's" controversy is part of it's musical merit tbh. The controversial lyrics are part of the musical composition. Yeah, more and more I believe the listener response to a song can play a huge part in the song’s creation itself. Music isn’t meant to exist in a vacuum and an anticipated response can often be incorporated into a song’s creation from the beginning.
