I'd say the most forgettable #1 is probably Butter tbh (at least from a GP perspective). I literally don't know anyone who seeks out that song, but bc of the constant BTS talk on here it's easy to see why others would think differently. I disagree that the GP doesn't know what Butter is. Even if they're not ARMY stans, they've passively heard about it just through cultural osmosis. What's Next on the other hand isn't even being streamed by Drake stans though. When not even the main target audience will stream your big comeback hit, you've really messed up This is a bit of a stretch, I know he hadnβt released in a couple of months but nothing to warrant a big comeback.

Drake scored 7 top 10 hits last year. He released a mixtape that's still charting on the Billboard 200. Even in 2019, which was essentially an off year for him, he still appeared on some songs that charted on the Hot 100. You can't even call Laugh Now Cry Later (the only song he's released this decade that he's associated with his forthcoming album) his big comeback single because he was active all throughout the year before it eventually dropped lol.

I wonder why The Off Season and CMIYGL both got rave reviews from social media but tanked incredibly hard. I know social media is becoming more and more separated from the feelings of the average person (specifically Twitter) but usually it's been a pretty reliable gauge for how well albums and songs will hold. That doesn't seem to be the case anymore. I think it might be a sign that the fandom is big, or that they're albums artists. If you aren't a big Cole/Tyler fan, you might listen full once since they're that big, but without a smash single the album as a whole falls. Like digital charts used to be (I think).

This makes sense. I just find it interesting because back when event albums dropped you would get a pretty good idea of how the public at large felt about them by looking through the most popular tweets about them, and it was very rare to see an album with almost unanimous praise being heaped on it. These days it's pretty common and it never reflects in the streaming numbers. I guess that's the result of niche fanbases consolidating on Twitter, it's a less reliable gauge for public interest than it once was.

I think it's a product of a portion of their fanbases being the kind of music obsessives who are always chasing the next album/artist, new or old, to hear so they can join the discussion on them. Rather than the type who casually come across a handful of random singles and maybe a couple albums from artists they're more attached to a month, and that's all the discovery they need to carry their playlists through that period. So even when the people in the first category really love an album, they might feel one full listen is enough for now and they don't have time to put it on repeat because there are like 8 or more albums on their queue for that week lol. I'd describe myself as that type of fan most of the time (though Call Me If You Get Lost is doing its best to break me out of those habits--I think I've listened to it 4 times all the way through at this point, which I usually never do)

That doesn't seem to be the case anymore. I think you have to look at it with a more holistic view, that is, in terms of how the artist performed on the charts throughout their career. Tyler never really had a big hit in the first place, not even a song that's been on the Hot 100 for 20 weeks. J Cole is a peculiar case because he does have actual genuinely popular songs, like No Role Modelz, Work Out, and Power Trip; but it just seems like at some point he transitioned from a hitmaker to a fan-powered artist in terms of commercial performance.

Also I just like LOONA more than BTS. It's that simple Y'all hate me for what I hate or find indifferent, can I like something for once? No one is against you liking Loona and not liking BTS. Literally your choice. But praising Loona and insulting BTS for no reason at all is not it. So stop acting like everyone is attacking you for what you like. Also what Loona has anything to do with hot100? They will not chart.
