Doubt Post will go to #1 from the jump on 7/24 given what's coming. Top 3 is most probable (keep in mind ARMY will probably shoot for an all-BTS top 2 for at least that week). But I think it will go to #1 eventually, similar to how all of Post's #1's took a little time to get there.

If there was one person that deserved a break it was definitely Post. He went 3 eras back to back without leaving the charts once from Congratulations-Circles, with all of them overlapping and flowing into each other. I’m glad he technically did a 1.5 year break even though some songs that he was featured on were released during the time.

Yeah and it was a well earned break at that, As a matter of fact I think that with A-Listers such as Post Malone taking a break after multiple consecutive years of hits may actually benefit them in the long run at least in my opinion.

To be honest, I'm kind of skeptical of arguments about overexposure and breaks. Like, if anyone were to ever be overexposed it'd be Drake, and he's still extremely succesful. On the other hand, Ed took a year and a half break and he's doing ehh, and Bieber took a similar break and look what happened to Yummy.

Ultimately, I feel like reception is the big test (two disliked projects in a row = decline is my rule of thumb), but I think breaks aren't necessarily helpful. Hopefully Post does well, though, he deserved it.

It varies from artist to artist because there are a number of factors outside of simply taking a break that can affect an artist's commercial trajectory. One example is Katy Perry and how she saw commercial success with her singles from 2008-2013, across 3 studio albums. When she took her first real break and returned in 2017, she came back to a music industry that had moved on from her as an artist and she hasn't been able to score any real hits since then. On the other hand, you have someone like Rihanna who remained active from 2005-2013, a period in which she scored 25 top 10 hits across 7 studio albums and several features. When she returned with her 8th studio album 3 years later, she still saw considerable success. Drake has remained active since he debuted in 2009. A "break" to him is not releasing any music as a lead artist for 7-8 months tops but still having 1 or 2 features making the rounds on radio and on the charts so he's never really "gone", his presence is just less felt, if anything. One thing that I think helps him is that he makes a wide variety of music and has a massive, diverse fanbase that's always eager for more music from him because they're used to always having new music from him. Post Malone was active from 2015 following the debut of White Iverson, till 2020 when Circles left the Hot 100. Considering the fact that he's coming back with a new lead single next week, he really hasn't "taken a break" per se. Yes, he left the Hot 100 but he's been on some features here and there during that time as well.

I'd say consistently releasing decent music that gets a good reception doesn't hurt one's chances of continuing to see success but oversaturation is definitely a real thing. There are certainly ways to maneuver it but releasing too much music too soon can definitely also turn people away.

Stop making shit up. Armys are respecting Maneskin and a lot of them are their fans. All they say is that their song gonna be competition on global spotify. That's not hate. lol @ Born In The USA being the most-streamed song on US Spotify on the 4th of July this year. I love that song, but a song that’s mistakenly said to be “celebrating America” when it’s actually openly opposing the Vietnam War that America foolishly got involved in is the anthem for this holiday that the country deserves.
