Stay is going to be #1 for sure on the Hot 100 next week. With Kid Laroi, Kanye, and Yung Bleu dropping albums tonight, along with the Folklore vinyls, the top of the Billboard 200 all of a sudden looks competitive. Not to mention, we should see some recurrent. For sure, Mood and MEBF are going recurrent, and even songs like Telepatia and BL are not 100% safe.

Everything depends on whether Kanye's hype holds up & if it does there'll be a bloodbath + one of kid laroi's album track is creating some buzz might get a higher debut, #Stay might go #1 but I doubt army will let it 😬, rest will be mid chart bomb fs. We'll finally see the end of 3 big hits which currently have ~100 points (MOOD, DL, MEBF)

question that's a tad off-topic, but when do we think the streaming era will end? we've seen how spotify records are being broken this year, could it happen within the decade? is it one of those inventions that are never replaced? surely eventually something else could come along? its a very broad and open question that's really interesting to think about

Honestly, maybe he is, how are we gonna trust any Army after that Why can’t you like a musician/s without baggage? You like Taylor Swift, well, swifties will doxx and threaten employees of Big Machine & P4K. You like Nicki Minaj or pretty much any female rapper, they’ll cyberbully everyone they perceive to be against them, even other rappers like Chika, because they can’t have more than one woman (their fave) be successful. It’s frustrating, it’s toxic, it’s dangerous. Edit: you know what, I’m not done. People treat being a stan like it’s intrinsic to their identity. Think - without BTS, where would you be? Without Taylor or Bieber, where would you be? Would you know who you are? I ADORED Melanie Martinez as a kid, I was making stop motion videos to her songs & s**t, and when accusations came out, I was floored and didn’t know what to do w myself. Having names for people who aren’t stans of your fave is weird. This ‘us VS them’ mentality is so infuriating because we’re all just people and whether you stan someone or not is so inconsequential. It REALLY DOESNT MATTER. I thought I was angry, but really im just so sad. We’re all hurting each other over BS that doesn’t matter. You see how negative and cruel comments are under music posts on Twitter? It’s heartbreaking Also - If there are actually BTS anti accounts out there, that’s even more concerning because you’re dedicating your time to something so full of hate. It’s creepy af. Pheebs spilling tea as usual. I stan. I lurked a few Twitter threads yesterday from the BTS fans. The fact that the entirety of the accounts is dedicated to a single act... especially a band, where like 85% of them will eventually disband... where will that leave you?

So if streaming is replaced, the medium would have to have benefits that streaming doesn't already provide. What's more likely to change is that the technology gets better rather than streaming being replaced as a whole but who knows

I usually have a "main" playlist of about 40 songs in rotation. Spotify is $9.99. The same playlist would take $51.60 out of my bank account (a bit less if discounts and the like but still). I don't see a cheaper legal alternative coming out anytime soon, especially since there's a lot of complains in the industry about royalties being too low already.

Reposting and quoting these desperate tweets/Insta is only adding legitimacy to their cause. The best way to stop a fire - remove oxygen. STOP FEEDING THE TROLLS.
Any chance OTM will crack Top 50? It's gotten a bit a of push at Country radio - probably because it's close to Top 10. Will the label push harder? It's probably not that many additional airplay points from Top 40.
So will G4U and DV rise and fall concurrently? Will the label to try sneak DV to #1 on Pop Radio?

Do country labels really push for higher Hot 100 positioning?
One Too Many has actually been out 43 weeks on country radio which seems to be in line with all the other songs in the top 10

Pushing for higher airplay indirectly pushes the song for a Hot 100 jump. And country labels do care about peaks on the format's airplay chart enough to push songs to #1 whenever they get close even if the bullet will nosedive the second it gets it's official #1 peak.
They'd be wise to discount it or something. Country audiences still buy songs from time to time. It feels wrong that a song that has charted for so long isn't top 40 so a sales bump could get it there.

It’ll be for absolutely bullshit reasons but imagine if Olivia Rodrigo got to add another record to her name and Good 4 U broke the record for most weeks at #2, or at least most consecutive weeks at #2

^ 3 billion streams for Morgan Wallen? That's unexpected. I expected some of these artists and more catalog acts to be higher, though. He released a 30-track album in January and got a boost in streams in the weeks following his controversy but more importantly, his debut album has also been performing well on streaming. He's been really stable on streaming throughout the year.

I'm very surprised that Olivia isn't one of the Top 10 most Streamed artists of the first half of 2021, Her debut album "Sour" has been streaming like crazy so it really does surprise me to not see her Rank higher on this list.

To be fair, though, she only has a single album to her name and it has only been out for a couple of months. I expect that her place will rise considerably through the rest of the year given the stability the album has, though.

Yeah, that stability really matters for a lot. It's everything. I've been tracking weekly streaming numbers in the US since the start of the year and Drake and Taylor Swift have been the most stable artists. Other artists get a boost following the release of an album but in a week or two, they pretty much lose 60-80% of the streams they gained as a result. The numbers are from Rolling Stone's Artist 500 chart, are audio-only and don't include streams from features, only streams as lead artist. DRAKE TAYLOR SWIFT Week 1: 93.6M Week 1: 122.3M Week 2: 97.5M Week 2: 120.9M Week 3: 98.9M Week 3: 108.4M Week 4: 99.8M Week 4: 106.9M Week 5: 98.3M Week 5: 101.4M Week 6: 100M Week 6: 100.9M Week 7: 98.6M Week 7: 127.2M Week 8: 103.9M Week 8: 109.8M Week 9: 110.7M Week 9: 103M Week 10: 219.8M Week 10: 97.1M Week 11: 160M Week 11: 103M Week 12: 150.5M Week 12: 101.1M Week 13: 140.6M Week 13: 107.9M Week 14: 136.6M Week 14: 111.6M Week 15: 131.6M Week 15: 228.1M Week 16: 132.4M Week 16: 138.4M Week 17: 133.1M Week 17: 119.8M Week 18: 130.3M Week 18: 108.5M Week 19: 128.1M Week 19: 106M Week 20: 130.8M Week 20: 100.2M Week 21: 129.4M Week 21: 89.9M Week 22: 125.7M Week 22: 88.6M Week 23: 123.9M Week 23: 88.8M Week 24: 121.7M Week 24: 87.3M Week 25: 122.8M Week 25: 97.5M Week 26: 119.2M Week 26: 88.7M Week 27: 117.4M Week 27: 85.2M Week 28: 117.9M Week 28: 84.8M

SOUR dropped at the end of May/start of June which is perhaps why she isn't in the Top 10. If she had dropped in March, I think we would be looking at a much different list
