I like Pam a lot and love a lot of her singles, but I am not overly familiar with like 40% these and don't feel like I can participate. I will observe and hopefully find some new faves, though!

I do think these last couple weeks have been a bit 'off' in the rankdown world, because a lot of them have been due at the same time as a lot of people have been starting to go back to school and get busy with work. Participation has been down across the board. And having Mary Chapin Carpenter and George Strait rankdowns due right before this was probably not helpful (I apologize for my part in that, lol). But anyway, as a host I always feel like there is a certain "feeling" where nothing happens for awhile because people are busy with other things, but then all of a sudden you feel a shift where people direct their focus to doing your rankdown and the lists start coming in. It's just kind of a natural submission flow that only the host really knows about, and doesn't even always have anything to do with anything the host has done. I'm sure you know what I am talking about. And the deadline doesn't always automatically result in people shifting their focus to the rankdown. I say all that to lead up to my observation that this rankdown has never quite reached the "people shifting their focus towards it" stage, despite the deadline arriving. Who knows why, I'm sure there are dozens of reasons. But from my experience it usually happens most with these '90s artist rankdowns. And I don't know if there is a guaranteed best solution. But one thing that can sometimes "force" the focus to start shifting is letting people know the deadline has arrived, then giving them like one more week of mercy filled with constant reminders, lmao. I mean, that's basically what someguy did with Mary Chapin Carpenter, and he increased from like 5 lists on the deadline to 13 lists by the end of the week 😂 And I did something similar with Tracy Lawrence as well, and remember my list total nearly doubling in that final extra week. Anyway, I know there has been a lot of last-minute list-making going on lately, and the recent pushes for George and MCC have undoubtedly made it difficult for the regulars to even remember that this one is happening. But maybe my suggestion of one last mercy week might be just enough to cause people to focus on this one next 'Cause frankly, there is absolutely no reason why this one shouldn't have the same 12-15 people who do all the other singles rankdowns..... We need to get with it, people!!

Damn, I forgot about this. Can I have through the weekend at least? So for anyone interested in submitting for this I will wait for you as long as you let me know you are working on this! I do think that we had quite a few big rankdowns due this month which definitely played a part in the low turnout thus far for this one. Hopefully me waiting for everyone can help push this one to over 10 participants cause Pam definitely deserves it.

I'm working on this now... So is it due tonight (the 24th) or Sunday night like it also says? 😂 This list might be put together in a hurry and messy.

"Every Home Should Have One" sounded rough and unfinished so I feel it is the correct choice to leave first.
"I Am A Woman" is one that has grown on me a lot since we did the Dos Divas album rankdown. Sad to see it leave before some of her 80s material but not surprised
I'll reveal some more tomorrow night, Look forward to hearing what everyone thinks of these two songs. Plus make your predictions on what we will be seeing leave soon!

I forgot to comment on this one! Just remembered while updating the official rankdown thread "Every Home Should Have One" is one that I just can never quite remember. There is nothing bad or objectionable about it, it is just insanely overshadowed by the rest of her career, lol. I'm not surprised "I Am A Woman" is low, but I am definitely shocked that it managed to sneak out of here before the Above and Beyond the Doll of Cutey tracks at least! I like the structure of this one, with Lorrie and then Pam each singing a verse, before breaking into harmonies. Unfortunately the worst part of this one is probably Lorrie's voice, lol. That on top of the relatively boring melody in relation to the rest of Pam's singles meant the odds were against this one from the start. I'll have a lot more to say once we're out of the hinterlands here at the bottom of her catalog that had no impact on her overall career Once we get to the top 30 or so, things will get MUCH more competitive!

Cutey is such an unremarkable album, but "Killer Comfort" continues to get catchier every time I hear it! Probably deserves to be this low though in terms of how important it is in her career (ie – not even slightly). "Love Is Sneaking Up On You" ought to be leaving next, right on its heels.

Yea I was waiting on a few more songs to be revealed from the bottom before commenting lol. Now that we’ve (almost) cleared out the bottom 5, let me do a little catching up. It’s always nice to get a perfect ranking from the outset when the song I ranked last also ends up leaving first. “Every Home Should Have One” sounds exactly like something you’d hear from the early 80s and given that it really can’t hold a candle to the rest of the songs in the list. I could look this up, but how old was Pam anyways when this was recorded?! She sounds so young! Much like a couple others have already mentioned, “I Am a Woman” has grown on me a bit since discovering it during the album rankdown. Even still, it isn’t something I’m going to seek out again and revisit. This was always going to be a bottom 5 contender here, so it leaving second wasn’t surprising at all. The same can also be said for both of the songs from Above and Beyond the Doll of Cutey as they were just never going to be able to garner the amount of support needed to escape the bottom 5. I will say though that “Killer Comfort” is one of those songs that has at times gotten stuck in my head lol. As bboat11 mentioned, things will start to get a bit more interesting once we get through some of the more obscure material and extras, so I'll for sure be commenting along more once we reach that point. Until then, I'll be coming back around to comment with every five reveals or so ;).
