The sad thing is that if this was genuinely only a "the CCP is bad" song then this situation would be applaudable, if somewhat goofy, because that is just an objectively good message.
But this is more of a promo skit by some far-right Trump affiliate who's also a rapist and kidnapper, and the support for the song (if there's any) is more related to the fact that he's a nutcase and not to the actual message which, based on his other work, isn't even probably focused on the matter at hand. There definitely are Chinese artists who could speak very openly about this issue, but is this really going to be the only one actually chart? That's just pathetic.

Ok seriously, everyone needs to CALM THE F*** DOWN!! I literally do not see what all the outrage is, that the #2 digital best-seller is only #88 on the chart and that this is indicative of a need to lower the weight of sales?!!! A position that even many diehard Billboard fans will not likely see, remember, or care about even a couple weeks from now. This is not a multi-week #1 Butter-type situation. Even if we disagree with the artists' behavior or way of life, this is not the crowning coronation y'all are making this out to be. At the height of the digital sales era, it was possible and very common for the top selling songs, not even #1, to rank in the top 10 of the Hot 100 with very little to no airplay or streaming, so this is virtually mind-boggling that you all care so much.

- Hot 100 span - excluding Christmas songs for this post (as well as annual hits like Thriller)
Elton John 8-15-1970 to 8-28-2021 (just over 51 years)
Tony Bennett 8-04-1958 to 10-01-2011 53 years and 2 months
Others that I could find with 45+ years there are probably others
Paul Mccartney 1-18-64 to 6-27-2015 51 years 5 months
Chipmunks 12-1-58 to 1-26-2008 about 49 years 2 months
Michael Jackson 11-15-69 to 8-11-18 48 years 9 months

Believe it or not - not everyone relies exclusively on streaming for music girl i guarantee you that a very, VERY small amount of people legitimately bought this song lmao. Not everyone relies on streaming for music but its a VERY small minority of people who actively buy music - that number is only in the tens of thousands, versus the tens of MILLIONS of people streaming and listening to radio. smh

Is this the lowest amount of streams for a charting song in the streaming era? Probably, unless a song somehow charted with only sales and radio. Not quite the streaming era yet, but many streaming services did count in 2012 when Taylor Swift's We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together notably hit No. 1 for 3 weeks on sales and airplay alone, as the song wasn't available to stream.

8,000 is a very big number in a lot of contexts so I think people aren't realizing how TINY that is in terms of streams, specifically for streams of a charting song on a list of the 100 most popular songs in the united states

I meanβ¦ the point is just going far beyond your head at this point if youβve witnessed all the tampering and tactics with digital sales the past 2 years and your first instinct when someone calls out digital sales yet again is to act like theyβre being ridiculous rather than seeing they clearly once again are pointing out more flaws that ruin the accuracy of the chart. Lol.

The chart manipulation from that rapist man from China π (and I'm not talking about Kris Wu!)
Queen of China Jane Zhang deserved to chart on the Hot 100 instead of them

I mean regardless of the fact this charted despite that the only video of this song has less than 3000 views yet I WANNA BE YOUR SLAVE and Pain by PinkPantheress have yet to chart despite having thousands of streams everyday, I think the more tragic thing is that this fake anti-CCP song might get even more traction or attention than if it hadn't charted, meanwhile actual progressive protest and political songs won't.
Not to mention there's a whole bunch of Chinese artist who are more worthy of this

Letβs not forget that Why Donβt We song that broke the top 40 last year entirely because of physical sales (although Iβm sure the streams were higher than those of Dance 7).

Others that I could find with 45+ years there are probably others Barbra Streisand 4-4-64 to 5-14-2011 47 years 1 month I think Barbra Streisand's last Hot 100 hit was "I Finally Found Someone" from 1996-1997. Is the entry you found from 2011 the song by Duck Sauce titled "Barbra Streisand"?

my hot take is that if you're being outstreamed by multiple songs from this extremely obscure mid-90s emo band I've been getting into lately, you're probably nowhere close to being popular enough to chart on even the hot genre charts no matter what your sales numbers are

The fact that that band got a whopping 8 Bubbling Under entries before ""earning"" their first Hot 100 single is unreal, that has to be a record

LOL - sorry I will edit No problem - she still has a charting span of about 32 years, which is still impressive. And Cher's at about 37 years (from "All I Really Want to Do" in 1965 to "Song for the Lonely" in 2002.

Stay 14,400 Bad Habits sold 15.700 these numbers wouldn't even fill up the 27 highest-capacity American college basketball arenas

As someone who is generally more... we'll say, sympathetic, to communist countries, the support of Miles Guo more comes off as taking shots at China than any actual criticism. And definitely not for musical quality. I wouldn't be surprised if he had the resources to buy himself onto the charts, but if he didn't , I find it interesting how there's a lot of negatively towards billionaires, but people seem to love Guo. And unfortunately, like The Epoch Times, a lot of the more prominent criticizers of China have ties to the far-right.
And it looks like we got two with Guo and Tom MacDonald. Mark's gonna have an interesting episode here, at least.

These songs did even better with it for this week. Therefore, I don't see Sales going away soon, there is still a market segment for it and some artistes/labels know how to capitalize on the sales strategy for further exposure.

Interestingly, outside of regions of China like Hong Kong and Macau as well as a few countries like Laos, the song had a similar pattern. His songs were also high in the US, Taiwan, and Japan for example, but they all dropped pretty fast.

itunescharts.net indicates it was 9-16-21-37-17-11-11. that's definitely not enough to be #2 in sales above, say, songs that were #1 on itunes.

So apparently, we'll be expecting Elon Musk and more billionaires to chart soon if Billboard didn't fix their chart.
