Does Elton John have an actual shot at returning to the Hot 100 this week? If so, it would be his first appearance since āSomeday Out of the Blueā in 2000 (although, he was part of the uncredited guest ensemble on Kanye Westās āAll of the Lightsā in 2010).

Does Elton John have an actual shot at returning to the Hot 100 this week? If so, it would be his first appearance since āSomeday Out of the Blueā in 2000 (although, he was part of the uncredited guest ensemble on Kanye Westās āAll of the Lightsā in 2010). Highly unlikely. Dua's never been strong on streaming except for certain singles and a debut at #66 with 360,581 is not a good sign for longevity |

Posting about Butter when it was #1 wasn't off topic at all, nobody spread any hate about that song that wasn't warranted. It was and still remains a fraudulent hit, but it's not #1 anymore, and good 4 u remains above it where it should be, so all is well that ends well. Good 4 u will get a higher placement on the YE and will be remembered by the GP, so we win in the end. Also Stay is definitely not the "hit of the year," that is currently Levitating, at least in the US. And plenty of other hits worldwide are still way above it at this point, since Stay just came out. We can revisit this topic in November, but currently it is not the hit of the year. You are wrong. |

The only big release to really avoid the 8th day rolling effect was Stay. In fact, it bucked the trend and posted a gain that day: 84 (+7) The Kid LAROI & Justin Bieber - Stay 16.34 (+1.53) My guess is that Stay didnāt have a radio deal and was a late add, but perhaps, this was the first sign that we should have known this was going to be really big. Big losses on an 8th day update only occur when the song had a radio deal on its first day. Stay didn't have that. (Nor did good 4 u since a certain Selena Gomez stan seems hellbent on comparing them.) First day radio deals and 8th day updates are actually relatively new. They've only been around for pretty much exactly a decade now. (The first one I recall is Hold It Against Me by Britney Spears in 2011.) It's actually more common for new releases to not have an 8th day loss. Relevant to actual current discussion, Rumors did have a deal. It will have a loss on its 8th day. |

When itās all said and done, 2021 is going to end up being remembered like 2016. Love Yourself ended up being the YE #1 in 2016, but it felt like One Dance and Closer were the biggest hits of that year. Kind of like how Levitating is going to be the YE #1, Stay is going to feel like the biggest hit of the year, especially if it stays at #1 until Halloween like I expect.
