You really think individual streams will be able to beat a campaigned and organized massbuying of $150K There's no point so I think let's just have the ARMYs have this and we just support better music and artists by streamingΒ Halsey, Big Red Machine, CHVRCHES, Gorillaz, Poppy, Kacey Musgraves, Kim Petras, Sigrid, and so much more. In 6 months, more people are gonna be caring about whether these albums hold up and what the best songs are rather than what was #1 the chart week of 09/11/21 Okay then, if Butter returns to #1, I donβt want to hear any complaining from those who did not do their part and stream/buy Stay. It has like 1.4M digital downloads. Lets remove half because of mass-buying reasons, 1.8M song units is great for such a short period of time. BUT it is not good for a 10 week #1. Not even remotely close.
In the same time frame g4u has 3.6M song units.

If this is true, I am glad that we are finally getting some real albums to begin autumn, after such an uninteresting summer. If CLB and DONDA are dropping next Friday, I will be satisfied with BL getting to 91 weeks, exactly one-and-three-fourths of a year.

It likely would have had 2-3 weeks naturally at #1 depending on when the remix would come out. I assume the strategy would be different if it didn't stick at the top. Also, the lack of mass-buying might encourage Columbia and BigHit to try to gain more traction on radio and streaming services and actually put in work instead of having their fans do it for them. And it's not just their singles that are big either. Their albums are huge too. They're a big enough act they could chart multiple non-singles onto the Hot 100 from their albums. I recall when they were happy just when "DNA" managed to chart in the bottom half of the Hot 100. |

I really fail to see how it was a dry summer, even in terms of mainstream releases: SOUR and The Off Season towards the end of May, Hall of Fame, Planet Her, Voice of the Heroes, CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST, Happier Than Ever, Solar Power, even Bo Burnham's Inside. Again, this is before including indie releases like Japanese Breakfast, Wolf Alice, MARINA, SPELLING, WILLOW, Hiatus Kaiyote, Clairo, and so many more.
I understand some of these aren't the big names y'all want but ignoring like there were no big releases feels disingenuous and disrespectful to new artists who saw new success
