"Burnin' Old Memories" was released in July 1989 as the second single from Kathy's fourth studio album Willow in the Wind and was her fourth and final number one on the country chart. Unfortunately Kanenrá:ke suffers back-to-back top 5 losses with castleoblivion26 losing his first top 10. While this was an initial top 10 contender, it settled back outside of the top 15 towards the last half with someguy placing it in his bottom 5. Despite this being a #1 hit for Kathy, I was still on the fence about including this one and did so at the insistence of Kanenrá:ke lol. This is one of her hits that sounds rather dated to me and so I'm not surprised to see that it both have its share of fans and detractors.

"Whole Lotta Holes" was released in July 1991 as the second single from Kathy's sixth studio album Time Passes By and was a Top 20 hit on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart. Yours truly loses his first top 10 song along with Cody Wants Out... while someguy loses a second. This initially began its run down in the bottom 5 as castleoblivion26 kicked things off first. It was able to climb out of that, however, and by the middle of the rankdown had already found its way into the top 15. That would be short-lived as two more bottom 5 rankings would find its way from taylor and finally Kris Kringle. Despite it only being a Top 20 hit, this has always been a personal favorite of mine and one that I like to revisit now and again.

"Goin' Gone" was released in September 1987 as the first single from Kathy's fourth studio album Untasted Honey was her ninth country hit and the first of four number one country singles. I was a bit surprised to see this as an early bottom 5 contender as some of its lower rankings would come from within the first half. That included a bottom 5 from ccarter1023 with Kanenrá:ke placing it just outside of that. It would pick up all three of its top 10s in the next half, though, including Cody Wants Out... and .indulgecountry with bboat11 placing this in his top 3. At that moment it was able to briefly jump into the top 15 before settling back outside of that with the final submission.

"Asking Us to Dance" is the only song in this I didn't really care for. Everything else was at least a solid, if not better.
I'm doing pretty well so far, too. I've got my entire top 10 still in tact, with the exception of "Goin' Gone."

"Come from the Heart" was released from Kathy's fifth studio album, Willow in the Wind, and became her third number one on the country chart. Despite castleoblivion26 starting things off with a bottom 5 ranking, this would find its way a spot shy of the top 10 in the middle of its run as it picked up a pair of top 10s from Kanenrá:ke and ccarter1023. It would settle back some, however, with two additional bottom 5s coming in the last half from bboat11 and taylor. Luckily it bounced back into the top 15 with the final submission. The song was actually first recorded by the late Don Williams in 1987. It wouldn't be the last time that Kathy covered a song by him as he was also the first to record "Standing Knee Deep in a River (Dying of Thirst)" which remains intact.

While Kathy first recorded "The Battle Hymn of Love" in 1987 for her fourth studio album Untasted Honey, she would later include it on her compilation album A Collection of Hits where it was released as its first single in July 1990. The song reached #9 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart. Some of you may have remembered this song from the 1990 country rankdown as it almost made the top half there. That may be why this came in as one of our least polarizing songs as seven of the participants all ranked this at or near their top 12 with taylor placing it just shy of their top 5. It did pick up a pair of bottom 5 rankings, however, from both myself and ccarter1023.

While I agree that "Burnin' Old Memories" sounds dated but I still loved it. Not surprised by its placement though and I'm glad it did get included.
The song I am surprised to see hanging on is "Where've You Been" as that song is so extremely slow that while lyrically it is nice, and Kathy sounds great I just cannot find enjoyment in it.

“Heart of the Country” was released in September 1985 as the third and final single from Kathy's second studio album, From My Heart, and was a minor Top 50 hit on the country charts. This was one a personal favorite discovery of mine and the fact that I could only rank it inside my top 20 is a testament to the strength of her discography overall. Six of y'all ended up placing this in your top 15 including a pair of top 10s from bboat11 and .indulgecountry. While a lone bottom 5 from Cody Wants Out... towards the end did push this outside of the top 15, it was able to rebound in the final moment with a top 5 ranking from Kris Kringle. I myself likely underranked this as it was one of the songs that I ended up having on repeat for some time. But, like I mentioned above I love about everything from Kathy which made it that much harder to put this ahead of some of the other songs that I've grown up with.

Written and originally recorded by Nanci Griffith, Kathy recorded “Love at the Five and Dime” for her third studio album, Walk the Way the Wind Blows, upon which it was released in April 1986 as its lead single, The song went on to become Kathy's breakthrough hit, becoming her first top 10 hit and eventually peaking at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart. After having just lost a bottom 5, Cody Wants Out... now loses one of his top 5 rankings while both myself and Kris Kringle lose a top 10. All but one participant ranked this in their top 20 with it receiving a lone bottom 5 from bboat11. Here is a video of both Kathy and Nanci singing the song together:

"Lonesome Standard Time" was released in September 1992 as the first single and title track from Kathy's seventh studio album, Lonesome Standard Time, and reached number 11 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart. This actually ends up matching its peak on the country charts as it was never quite able to make the jump into the top 10. This was well-liked across the board as six of the participants all ranked this within their top 10 with .indulgecountry just placing it shy of his top 5. It may very well have been my bottom 2 ranking that kept this from the top 10, however, as I was the only one not to put this in their top 20. While I likely did rank this a few spots too low, overall this has never necessarily been a favorite of mine. That said, the video itself is very nostalgic as it was during this time that CMT played a very influential role in my younger days growing up with country music.

"The Trouble with Angels" was released in May 2002 as the first single from Kathy's tenth studio album, The Innocent Years, which also happened to be her last album for Mercury Records, a label she had been with since 1984. Despite this not even being a Top 50 hit on the country charts, this was very well-received overall as the majority of the group ended up ranking this somewhere within their top 10. Of those, taylor placed this in their top 5 while .indulgecountry ranked it as his #2 song. The continued support it received over the course its run pushed this into the top 5 towards the end, but that would be short-lived as a lone bottom 2 ranking from Kris Kringle would unfortunately send this to the back of the top 10 in the final moments.

"Nobody's Gonna Rain on Our Parade" was released in July 1994 as the second single from Kathy's eighth studio album, Walking Away a Winner, and reached number 13 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart. Despite coming in as the fourth most polarizing song, this managed to remain a consistent top 10 contender for the majority of its run. Six participants did in fact rank this inside their top 10 with three of those in the top 5 from ccarter1023, .indulgecountry, as well as castleoblivion26 who put this as his #2 song. Two other participants lose a bottom 5 ranking including taylor and Kanenrá:ke.
