There is also Die For It, another Belly and Abel collab that also has Nas in it, i’d put that between Hurricane and You Right. I agree on Better Believe being the lowest thing he’s done this year as that track just reminds me of the 2017 era of features that he would just hop on that just turn out to be nothing but a burnout in the end.


Moth opening big on Spotify was something i wasn’t expecting, even though if it’s just 1.3M but it’s still immediately behind Adele which i call that a win. If it could hold stable while also gaining on AM and Youtube, and radio can start gaining mid week, then top 5 is definitely not out of the picture. If this does extremely well, then that’s proof that Abel should’ve honestly waited until at least around now to start the new era now that BL, SYT and After Hours as a whole is starting to fade slowly from the spotlight compared to where it was in August.

Yeah the discount trend has been going much longer, not long after iTunes first introduced multi-tiered pricing way back in 2009 I believe.

As for this collab, I'm not against the two of them trying to repeat their success and going at it again, I just doubt it will be nearly as huge as Cheap Thrills this time, and I really wish they wouldn't call it, Dynamite, of all song titles to choose!!

Even before that discounted singles have pretty much always been a marketing tactic.

Cheap Thrills was unique for different reasons but the itunes discount is not one of them

"Last Friday Night" discounted the remix version to reach #1, that's the earliest example I remember of a successful 69c discount for a song to go #1 in digital era.

Then "When I Was Your Man" discounted in general to 69c to go #1.

Discounting was really rare though still. I remember you could look at the top 100 iTunes chart and usually absolutely no song was discounted. Then in Summer 2016 overnight a bunch of current hits started getting discounts. It was a label thing rather than "Cheap Thrills" thing.

You can go back to Kworb's archives and see it went from only 1 song on the iTunes chart being discounted in May 2016 to almost 20 songs being discounted by September 2016.

I think, since same rules apply to h100/b200, if sales weren't counted the albums chart would be v. inaccurate in measuring popularity.
