Okay I know I've been teasing about my indifference towards Easy On Me but between JPEGMAFIA, Lana Del Rey, Majid Jordan, Grouper, Conway, Every Time I Die, Parquet Courts, Agnes, and Duran Duran all releasing today (holy shit, this Friday is stacked) not to mention albums from last week I still have to give second listens like FINNEAS and Ice Nine Kills, and albums I still have to get to like That Kid, CL, Remi Wolf, Zack Fox, and Alice Longyu Gao, yeah confident I won't have to care about Easy On Me until year-end rankings come out.

SHM and The Weeknd’s song was amazing as expected. I think this will also be a track on The Dawn considering the MV is on Abel’s channel but it’s also really smart to market it as a SHM song to not take the spotlight of any second wind of TMB.

Better Days has been added to both TTH and Hot Hits USA on Spotify, so expect it to blow up even bigger in the coming days now that it has some real playlist support. I expect radio to soon follow.

Oh and btw Moth to a Flame is amazing, listened to it three times last night and was blown away by how amazing it was. Not really sure how it'll do since unless it's Daft Punk, most of Abel's collabs with other electronic producers haven't down well (or have been good (with the exception of his work with Oneohtrix Point Never) but I really hope this is a big hit.

I'm assuming it's primarily for Swedish House Mafia's project since the title on Spotify is 'Moth to a Flame (with The Weeknd)' and none of the articles on this song say it's a single for The Dawn, though they could also tack it onto The Dawn the same way Earned It was tacked onto Beauty Behind the Madness. That said, let's treat this as SHM's third single this year rather than The Dawn's second.

MTAF is great not sure if if I like it more than TMB but damn it's good to hear Abel collating with people like SHM. Another avenue that he can go down and do well at. I reckon this will be on SHM's album and on Dawn Deluxe as (like others have pointed out) Abel is very involved with it.

thoughts on some major releases:

"Moth To A Flame" - this is good, but nothing exciting. heard this from Abel before. "Lifetime" remains my favorite of the new SHM singles thus far.
"SG" - this is cute, but also not impressed. Megan's verse was the highlight and it was too short. won't be adding it to my library.
"Stars Align" - really enjoyed this. will check out the album eventually.

and some not-so-major releases:

"Bruxelles je t'aime" (Angèle) - best release I've checked out tonight. she's a bop.
"Pa Mis Muchachas" (Christina Aguilera, Becky G, Nicki Nicole ft. Nathy Peluso) - this is fun. nothing groundbreaking, but exceeded my low expectations.
"BIG" (Kendra Jae) - I LOVE her song with Saweetie on the Pretty Summer Playlist, so I gave this a shot. it is not good.

Stars Align feels like the spiritual successor to Feel No Ways. It's not bad but I think the previous singles were better, I hope those get more light now that the album is out and can get more promotion.

Yeah, Stars Align is okay but it could have been better. I don't see it doing much charts-wise. Waves of Blue, Summer Rain and Been Through That are stronger singles. I really do love the album. Strong from start to finish. I've played it like 6 times front to back already.

Imo Moth will have a lower debut on Spotify than TMB (1,100-0,800) but it'll have much more stability and grow over time. Whether it'll have a chance to grab the #1 after Christmas is yet to be seen, but I think that we should get a good idea after a week or two

I just checked the iTunes chart on kWorb, and I find it ironic that there are 3 versions (by 3 different artists) of Let's Go Brandon, two of which are in the Top 10, and the ad on top is promoting the NASCAR playoffs, the very sport that brought to life the whole Let's Go Brandon viral craze.

Moth To A Flame - just normal. replay value for me is low
SG - The highlight for me was Lisa. She sounds amazing probably has a similar voice like Sia.... Excellent track...hitting replay.
Stars Align - Nice track.
Always Love You - solid lead off by Elton with the intro. Nice track with Young Thug and Nicki
No Bad Days - Wasnt bad at all. It was okay.
Pa Mis Muchachas - Nice track. Christina is scream singing
Rock with You - Seventeen comes a long way. Very good.

I wouldn’t call it a viral craze, literally would not have heard of it if not for ITunes. I highly doubt people beyond chart nerds and people who fall for political grifters have heard of it.

Maybe it’s just me, but I when I see people who don’t actually know The Weeknd refer to him as “Abel”, it makes me cringe. I know that’s his actual name but it just seems like it should be reserved for his actual friends and family to call him that. I’m weird I guess.
