How does she keep doing this? Who does she think she is? Her "B-sides" continue to be better than most pop girls' lead singles! Relatively NO skips on this one but highlights for me include: Psychedelic Switch (my fave) Shy Boy Kamikaze So Right (SO seductive!) Stadium Love (I need to scream this chorus at the top of my lungs in a packed concert venue!) Kollage (gave me cool, Tame Impala vibes) Anything To Be With You (So FUNKY. The Amerie / Rich Harrison comparison Ling-Ling mentioned in their review is spot on.)

I think I prefer this to anything else she's done (as a 'set' of work).

This one wasn't as instant as "The Loneliest Time" but I'm going to keep spinning it.

I could see this being my favorite album of hers in time. The production alone has me sold; the main Pop girlies are not experimenting like this!

Finally got around to listening to this & it’s fantastic! A couple boogers here and there but overall, it’s incredible. Not sure whether I would put this or The Loneliest Time over the other but that’s only because they’re both so good.
My favorites off first listen: Psychedelic Switch So Right Come Over Kamikaze Stadium Love

I’ve always liked songs here and there by her, but lately she’s becoming a go to for me. This new project is really good. There’s not many skips at all and “Shy Boy” has so become a favorite song of the moment for me. Other favorites so far are “Anything To Be With You”. Wasn’t expecting the Amerie go go sounding production. “Kamikaze, Aeroplanes, Shadow, Psychedelic Switch, So Right” which may be my my second or third favorite from the project and “Come Over”.

This works as a great companion piece to The Loneliest Time, and I think I prefer it overall to the latter actually. I thoroughly enjoyed it, there are several highlights but my top 3 favorites are "Kamikaze," "Shy Boy" and "Kollage".
I think Carly's the Kylie of her pop generation, in that you can always count on her to serve some, a lot of, actually, amazing pop tracks with every album. I love her.

"Shy Boy" is such an earworm. I love it! I still can't really get into it! However, I have "Kamikaze", "After Last Night", and "Psychedelic Switch" on repeat.

She sang three songs (Psychedelic Switch, The Loneliest Time & Kollage) on ABC's Good Morning America last Thursday for their Summer Concert Series and participated in an AMA segment:

Great performances. I'd love to see her live one day.
Such a crime she doesn't have more commercial success. But I could stay on a soap box all day over that so...

I ordered the vinyl the other day, thinking I would have it by this weekend, at least. There was no delivery date at all and then, I got notification that it will be delivered in...November. Ooof. I still haven't heard the album yet, not even Shy Boy. I have been holding out, but come on! I'm gonna see if my local record stores have it and just get it there, so I can finally hear this in full. The clips have definitely intrigued me and made this sound like her best work.
Edit: For some reason, now the local record store, which had it on their website, is now saying unavailable in both vinyl AND CD form. Amazon says I can get the CD by Monday so I might have to cancel my vinyl order and settle. Since I want a digital copy anyway and Amazon isn't offering that with purchase for this particular album, I might be better off buying the CD for this one anyway. So annoying.

Yeah, these artist stores need to get it together. I got the Japanese import of this today, that shipped from Japan YESTERDAY, lol. Like how is that even possible?
I hadn't revisited this much since the first week. Not that I didn't like it already, I'm just not a huge digital listener, I tend listen to albums that I own physically way more. My original opinion still stands, this is one of her boldest works and so enjoyable front to back. This is going straight into heavy rotation now.

Since I have pretty much crossed over to a vinyl addict, I was convinced I had to have this on vinyl (plus the milky white vinyl looked cool) but...between the special double vinyl edition of James Blake's new album, Romy, Olivia Rodrigo, Amaarae, and the MB30 all on deck, I think I can take a break from vinyl for a bit, LOL. Sorry, Carly! But, at least I will finally hear this when I get the CD and not have to wait til November, LOL.

Lost my review by swiping on this stupid MacBook pad by accident, but I find it hard to believe that Metacritic would put Emotions Side 2 over this, or hell, over Emotions, but here we are. Carly really is the queen of consistency. It's wild. Emotions Side 2 is a damn EP with her weakest material, but she still ranks with the best! Experimental, edgy, daring, bold. Emotion may always be my fave from her (bring back Dev!) and Dedicated had some really slinky bops (No Drug Like Me, Right Words Wrong Time, and Too Much) that really made me move my body in TikTok like ways. But, this could creep up to the second spot just because of the versatility on display.
1. Stadium Love (Closest we come to that style I was just talking about that I wanted from her. Absolute KILLER. Also, I wrote my original review before I got to this song, so maybe it was for the best, LOL) 2. Put It To Rest (WHAT THE FUCK!? More of this, please.) 3. After Last Night (Rostam gets her.) 4. Shadow (Sexy.) 5. Anything To Be With You (More of these girls need to fuck with go-go. Even that NEVER OVER chant at the beginning being worked into the song later gave me Gobble Gobble/1 Thing vibes.) 6. Kamikaze (Could work as a single, honestly. Strong No One Dies From Love vibes.) 7. Shy Boy (I like that she is mining other 80s material than just the fluffy, lightweight pop stuff.) 8. Kollage (Very Histoire de Melody Nelson. I dig this.) 9. Psychedelic Switch (Ibiza vibes.) 10. Come Over 11. So Right 12. Aeroplanes (The closest to a dud and it's not even a bad song in the least, LOL. It's just too messy and random sounding.)
I love my Top 9, really like 10-11, and am OK with 12.

It is a travesty among the human race that Carly has not received a grammy, especially after the brilliance of EMOTION and subsequent material.
