Monster Mash was a clue ion Jeopardy last Thursday:
However, if they want to use it again in the future, they’ll need to update it to include “It charted again in 2021”.

So that Bad News sales was just like that Move Ya Hips track with Nicki Minaj that was rumored to have such big sales to hit #1 then in the end it was I think #19 lol
Anyway, Need to Know last week and now Heat Waves. What long-running song on the edges of the top 10 can finally make it next?

What long-running song on the edges of the top 10 can finally make it next? MYH was predicted to be #3, not #1. Watermelon Sugar and Rockstar were very strong that week. And Cold Heart will be the next long-running song to be #1. It may even go to #1 during the first quarter of 2022.

Given what happened with some of the other Halloween-boosted songs, I wonder if we'll see This is Halloween in Bubbling Under or Hot 100 Recurrents tomorrow ... I would think the latter.

Per Cedric, Thriller and Monster Mash are safe for re-entry: He also has Somebody's Watching Me at #50, but did not have BL re-entering. Not sure why Cedric who is normally okay at predicting would want to follow data from odd predictors???? He did the same thing with Ed at #1 and at #5.

If Halloween songs are doing this well this year then Christmas songs may be the most dominant they've ever been. Get ready.
Also, of the 4 Halloween songs that re-entered, it's odd that three of them were hits in 1984. Even more odd, NONE of them were hits during the actual Halloween season in 1984 ("Thriller" and "Somebody's Watching Me" peaked in March, "Ghostbusters" peaked in August).

I didn't even realize so many people dislike Heat Waves, I personally love it but I was already over it back in May lol I love it too i really don’t get the hate for it when it’s just a harmless song that’s really catchy. I’m happy for its longevity on streaming and that it would most likely make the 2022 YE as well, but i’m def in the minority for that. Queen of the charts Katy Perry will return to the Hot 100 eventually. With "Firework", lol.So no BL then. Intresting. 90 is nicer than 91 though. There is still New Years to consider as there is a lot of lights and fireworks and both songs fit the occasion more than perfectly i just wish the event meant more like Halloween and Christmas does for the charts. The former could benefit from a Christmas boost as well.

Congrats to Abel for creating a song that fits the theme of New Year's, 4th of July, Halloween, AND Christmas Christmas? That's a reach lol. And honestly the song by itself is not fitting for Halloween. It's the visuals/video I feel made it get seen as Halloween-themed. If it had a happy/light music video then I wouldn't see any Halloween draw whatsoever.

Heartless is WAY more of a Halloween song than Blinding Lights, but that’s not the single from After Hours that spent 90 weeks on the Hot 100.

If it had a happy/light music video then I wouldn't see any Halloween draw whatsoever. Maybe it's because of the synths? and the song has a darker sound overall. Also, people associate synths with the 80s and 80s is the decade with the most Halloween classics (lol). Plus, the visuals helps and the After Hours era overall with his MJ/Joker vibes. I don't know if it makes sense, but I can hear Halloween at the beginning of the song.

So why DID “Monster Mash” chart again in the summer of 1973? Caught fire in early 1973 on WOKY-AM and WZUU-AM in Milwaukee. Prompted the record label to reissue the song. Peaked at #10 in August 1973 ---- (not October)

^Regarding its 1973 re-release, it also reached #3 in the UK after being banned from BBC radio for being "too morbid" in 1962 and #1 in Canada.
Also, in the Hot 100 it was its third chart run in the Hot 100 after managing to chart for three weeks in 1970.

Jackson has now placed a solo song in the Hot 100's top 20 in six consecutive decades.
Reflecting the spooky season's soundtrack, four Halloween classics re-enter the Billboard Hot 100 chart (dated Nov. 13).
Michael Jackson's "Thriller" returns to the Hot 100 at No. 19, marking its highest placement since its original chart run in 1984, when it peaked at No. 4. The song tallied 12.9 million U.S. streams (up 109%), 8.2 million radio airplay audience impressions (up 275%) and 6,300 downloads sold (up 71%) in the Oct. 29-Nov. 4 tracking week, according to MRC Data.
The title cut of Jackson's landmark 1983 album was produced by Quincy Jones and written by Rod Temperton, while its video was inducted into the National Film Preservation Board's National Film Registry. Notably, Jackson has now placed a solo song in the Hot 100's top 20 in the 1970s, '80s, '90s, 2000s, '10s and '20s. (As a Jackson 5 member, he also ranked in the top 20 in the '60s thanks to the group's debut hit "I Want You Back," which reached the region in December 1969 on its way to No. 1 the following month.)
Jackson sent six songs into the Hot 100's top 20 in the '70s; 17 in the '80s; seven in the 90s; and two each in the '00s and '10s. Jackson, who died in 2009, appeared in the top 20 posthumously in the '10s with "Love Never Felt So Good," with Justin Timberlake (No. 9 peak in 2014), and as featured on Drake's "Don't Matter to Me" (No. 9; 2018).
With his Timberlake team-up, Jackson became the only artist with top 10 Hot 100 hits in five distinct decades as a soloist ('70s-'10s).
Bobby "Boris" Pickett and The Crypt-Kickers' novelty tune (and graveyard smash) "Monster Mash" re-enters the Hot 100 at No. 37, with 8.7 million U.S. streams (up 130%), 4 million in airplay audience (up 1,010%) and 7,300 sold (up 79%).
"Monster Mash" spent two weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100 in October 1962, marking the first and only chart-topper for Pickett, who died in 2007. It returned in 1970, reaching No. 91, and 1973, climbing all the way to No. 10, and had not appeared on the chart again until this week.
Ray Parker Jr.'s "Ghostbusters" re-enters the Hot 100 at No. 40 with 8.5 million U.S. streams (up 114%), 5.3 million radio audience impressions (up 700%) and 4,700 sold (up 75%). "Ghostbusters" spent three weeks atop the Hot 100 in August 1984, doubling as the theme to the blockbuster film of the same name, starring Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Sigourney Weaver. It became Parker's first leader and fifth and most-recent top 10 (three logged with his group Raydio). Before this week, "Ghostbusters" hadn't hit the Hot 100 since its original run in 1984.
Parker himself hadn't appeared on the Hot 100 in any capacity until this week since 1990, when he was featured on Glenn Medeiros' "All I'm Missing Is You" (No. 32 peak).
Adding to the Hot 100's Halloween haul, Rockwell's "Somebody's Watching Me" re-enters at No. 42 with 9.4 million U.S. streams (up 71%), 3 million in radio reach (up 473%) and 3,000 sold (up 55%).
The song peaked at No. 2 for three weeks (where it was blocked by Van Halen's "Jump" and Kenny Loggins' "Footloose") in March-April 1984. Like "Monster Mash" and "Ghostbusters" (and in the Halloween spirit), it creaks back onto the Hot 100 for the first time since its initial chart life.
Rockwell (real name: Kennedy Gordy) is the son of legendary record executive and Motown founder Berry Gordy Jr. "Somebody's Watching Me" became Rockwell's first and highest-charting hit, its success helped by guest vocals from Michael (in the chorus) and Jermaine Jackson.

Heat Waves has got to be one of the most interesting chart runs ever. First being referenced in the now biggest Article of Our Own fanfiction of the same name about Minecraft Youtubers, and it rose in US Spotify to the 30s. As once the meme train of that ran out, it got picked up by Tiktok. It starting rising up in Global Spotify at this point. Then FIFA got the song and it was the most loved song on the soundtrack. Global Spotify exploded and US Spotify along with it. Then the popular Netflix show Never Had I Ever featured the song. By then it was too late. Everyone has Heat Waves faking them out.

With Monster Mash re-entering the charts, if Cold Heart goes to #1, Elton would have a #1 before the 1973 MM re-entry (Crocodile Rock) and a #1 after the 2021 MM re-entry.
