I’m not sure it has been confirmed for next year. But the plan now is to tour for around 4 years and release the next album during that time. I can sorta see why he’s doing this before his daughter starts school.

There were signs that Ed had peaked on streaming, but the opening is weak either way. It’ll keep going due to singles and will end up with a higher total than a number of the albums that opened better, but a long rollout with the next project is may not be a good thing.

Idk why some of y'all are surprised by Ed's lukewarm streaming numbers in the U.S. He's NEVER gotten album bombs for albums. Even during his peak, the only Top 40 debut from divide's album release was Perfect. This was about what I expected.

^A couple of other things to consider about Ed Sheeran. For ÷'s first week, more than 71% of its equivalent albums were pure sales. Also, while Ed has 9 top 10s in the Hot 100, he has only five top 10 songs in Streaming Songs, but 10 top 10 songs in Radio Songs.

Yeah I love Ed and really enjoyed his latest album, but I'm not going to lie, those streaming numbers don't look great, but I am interested to see how the physical numbers will play into his overall SPS projection.

And yeah the Gaga comparison is an odd choice as someone to prove who "totally blew him out of the water," as, even though I love her and that album too, it actually didn't have great longevity, surprisingly only ranking at #50 on Billboard's year-end, and so far the singles from Sheeran's project are far out-performing those from Gaga's.

I would say no, personally. You'd be white. But I've asked both racist people and SJWs this and SOME of both groups said they'd consider that to be non-white, especially if they looked non-white. Also there's the recent Elizabeth Warren case which was high profile, I think her indigenous ancestor was even further back than that but she seemed to think she counted as a "Person of Color" before, but now after public backlash against her she's been saying she's only white ever since.

There's another case with Mariah Carey, where she's probably whiter than she (and most of the public) thinks she is, but she's refused to ever take a DNA test. I think she's worried something similar to Elizabeth Warren will happen to her and she will have to stop being a POC. Kamala Harris is another one too, she obviously and definitely has SOME European ancestry, because her father is actually from Jamaica, not sub-Saharan Africa, but she brands herself as half Indian and half black (i.e. 100% non-white), so a DNA test would likely be a PR nightmare for her too.

Iggy Azalea had also claimed on an interview at a radio station that she thinks she has Aboriginal Australian ancestors, which would make her "non-white" to certain people. But if she does at all it's likely very far back now and personally I think at some point it gets laughable to even bring it up. And you've got cases like Logic and Halsey where they're white-passing mixed race people, but they bring it up TOO much (or at least did earlier in their careers), and also imply they're half and half when really they're closer to three-quarters white because their non-white parent is actually mixed race themselves. That got them in trouble and a lot of criticism and mockery.

If any of you ever become famous I think it's best not to try and exaggerate your non-white ancestry or try and hide your white ancestry. It's better just to be honest and open about it, and learn to be happy with it. For some people I know there's an element of white shame or white guilt, but when people go around lying about their whiteness and finding every loophole they can to distance themselves from it and try to be a Person of Colour (whether it's Kamala Harris trying to pretend she's 0% white when she's probably about 20% white, whether it's Logic trying to pretend he's 50% white when he's probably more like 75% white, or whether it's Iggy Azalea or Kid Laori trying to invoke the one-drop rule), it can come across as insulting and some twisted form of cultural appropriation, as well as a denial of white privelege quite frankly. Just tell the truth, be honest, and own who you are.

Laroi's great great grandfater is from Aboriginal family. (so +1 gen compared to Olivia).

I am not ignoring race problems, well aware of them. Agree with you that they shouldn't be silenced.

But my point is we are on a musical forum, discussing chart success, does race need to be included in this topic.

Sure if we are talking about award shows in the past/ the way radios used to act absolutely. But in this instance there is absolutely no need. This is a chart discussion.
