I think it is fatigue from both artists. The song isnβt even doing decent numbers from the start. Itβs like people donβt even care to check it out.
Summer Walker & SZAβs collab has been out charting it on UK Spotify lmao. Absolutely wouldβve never thought they would debut higher overseas than Post & Weeknd.
A song with these names is certainly gonna get huge label backing (playlisting, power rotation, etc) so Iβm sure itβll eventually re-peak in further weeks but theyβre really beating a dead horse with them in general it seems like. Part of me does think despite the huge label push theyβre trying to make it a slow burning hit specifically though (releasing it quietly with neither artist announcing it prior, and there specifically being no hype prior) so we will see how that strategy works.

CNN isnβt the be-all end-all of truth. Theyβre reporting (in theory) to the best of their ability with what theyβve learned through their sources, which doesnβt make what they report 100% fact. Theyβre not a damn encyclopedia. You are a degenerate, and whoever is allowing you to get away with posting misinformation about a tragedy needs to be ashamed. The mayor plus CNN have way more credibility than Twitter. I can assure you of that. Just because some unfortunate incident happened where there were tragedies doesnβt mean the songs are all of a sudden trash. The songs are still good imo and deserve to chart as they should. What happened to just separating the art from the artist? y'all gotta be on Travis' payroll π. No WAY y'all dick riding THIS HARD for no payment. Of all the right ways to respond, this was not it π€·πΎββοΈ I'm just not vibing with the way some are going to LENGTHS to defend this man over something that is at fault for. If what I said was wrong then so be it It's a big stretch to say listening to consuming someone's art is defending him. I'm not someone who usually separates the art from the artist to begin with but we all have different opinions when it comes to when we separate the art from the artists and what the standards should be. I'm also not gonna act smug and act superior over people that do. |

My take - unless the song itself drives you the listener to immoral behavior(which of course could happen but likely to a much smaller degree), then the song is innocent, even if the artist isn't. I will enjoy the music I enjoy and not worry about it,

Havenβt even bothered to listen to his new songs but itβs definitely obvious he will still have a huge following and his music will continue to chart high for a while. If someone does not want to listen because their personal stance then thatβs fine but ultimately trying to convince/guilt others to also not listen will go nowhere.
Everyone has their own personal limit on what will make them stop listening to music or supporting an artist (many people who wonβt listen to Travis but will continue to stream songs Dr. Luke has involvement in for example). Every situation is complex and has dozens of factors which is why trying to pass your own personal assessment of how to go forward with consuming an artist as universally accepted goes nowhere.
Chart wiseβ¦ the new songs donβt appear to have any physical CDs available so far like Franchise/The Scotts/Highest in the Room. I donβt think it would be logical for his label to now release them directly following the drama either (not to mention they probably mostly wouldnβt even ship out in time at this point) so we can rule out another fluke #1 debut from him as of now.

My take - unless the song itself drives you the listener to immoral behavior(which of course could happen but likely to a much smaller degree), then the song is innocent, even if the artist isn't. I will enjoy the music I enjoy and not worry about it, Well what's left is...you don't listen to their music. it's not that hard. To use an extreme example to make my point: I highly doubt the people who don't listen want to R. Kelly (like myself) are kicking themselves for doing so. There's thousands, if not millions of artists you could always listen to. Some people aren't comfortable listening to acts who've raped or killed or emotionally abused others, and some are content. Again, we all have different standards (especially if the artist is dead and can't actively gain any monetary compensation from consumption) but it's really not that painful to not want to support an artist after they're outted as being a POS. And I didn't even getting into artists that are actively spreading misinformation and conspiracies and harm with their music. |
