Billboard Top 10 from 35, 30, 25, and 20 years ago: November 30, 199115 33 Emotions - Mariah Carey This was the first Hot 100 chart to use data from Soundscan. Did this rebound because of Soundscan? It had been #1 in October of that year. Yep. One of the interesting things about the November 30, 1991 Hot 100 is that the "previous weeks" columns showed the SoundScan charts, not the published Hot 100. "Emotions" fell 18-33 on the 11/23/91 chart (the final one under the old system). Thanks to the previous weeks columns on 11/30 we see it should actually have fallen 5-9 (then down to number 15). Other interesting comparisons from that week: PM Dawn would have been number one for 3 weeks, Natural Selection's "Do Anything" would have fallen 4-5 instead of 16-24, EMF's "Lies" would have peaked at 49 instead of 18, Color Me Badd's "I Adore Mi Amor" would have been no. 32 instead of 90(!), and "Black Or White" would have debuted at no. 19 instead of 35.

"Easy On Me" will easily go back to #1 next week.

Imagine the chaos if Taylor and Adele dropped on the same day and how many songs would go recurrent. It wouldβve probably done some serious damage and would have the same effect if Kanye and Drake wouldβve dropped the same day as well. This 4th quarter is really something and itβs a shame 2021 picked up in music releases right at the end. The fact that Stay did not fall lower than #6 throughout all of this makes it the biggest song of 2021.

You could attempt to make a case for biggest song of 2021 outside the US, but Bad Habits is the biggest hit of the year in the UK (11 weeks at #1) which dents the song even further.

Not to mention, Stay has the highest radio peak in 2021 and is the longest running #1 on pop this century (2nd longest of all-time). Although Easy On Me is here to stay and will challenge some of these feats.

I actually agree with your take β I think if we do one of Rockgolf / Inverse's biggest hits to peak in 2021 by chart points lists, when all is said and done Stay will be the biggest hit. I don't think Easy on Me is going to challenge it though β it's not doing amazing on streaming (or at least not biggest song of the year amazing) and I bet similar to Hello it'll be able to be Album bombed off the charts in March / April, not exactly setting itself up to be the biggest song of the year

The best Hot 100 #1 in... I don't know. It really deserves the #1 spot in terms of quality but also it really did well in streaming so I'd say it's deserving from a performance perspective too, just deserving on all accounts.

"All Too Well (TV)" debuts to 54.4M streams. For comparison, Adele's first full week was "only" 53M. Not apples to apples since ATW had 13 versions or so, and EOM had it's first few hours on the previous tracking week, but still, kinda proves that playing the chart game works sometimes.
I wonder how big can Ariana open on streaming if she starts promoting again like in the Dangerous Woman days. And Olivia's next lead is one to watch as well.

So glad Billboard is counting the 10 minute version as the #1 hit, them not putting the other parentheses in the title had me worried. Wouldve been annoyed if they counted the other version cause the 10 minute version was definitely more popular

Wouldve been annoyed if they counted the other version cause the 10 minute version was definitely more popular I wasn't worried but I get why some people were. They're too incosistent with the way they credit stuff, sometimes defaulting to whatever the label wants (in this case I'm sure Team Taylor wanted the 10min version to be credited). I still roll my eyes at BeyoncΓ© receiving credit for so many "Perfect" weeks.

Also worth noting, Smokin' Out the Window and Heat Waves both reached new peaks.

Since ATW hit #1, are they referring to ATW (TV) or ATW (TV) 10 minute version?

Since ATW hit #1, are they referring to ATW (TV) or ATW (TV) 10 minute version? I think "(10 minute version) (Taylor's Version) (From The Vault)" would have been too long to put in the graphic so they left out the descriptors, but they mention it being the longest Hot 100 #1 in history. so I think we can safely say they credit the 10-minute version.
