If Elton John gets a top 10 this week where does it fit on gaps between first and last top 10s ad gaps between two most recent top 10s? Not counting Christmas songs Billy Rae Cyrus would be my guess for one of the bigger gaps Candle in the Wind was his last top 10 which was 24 years ago. Jose Feliciano still holds the record with a 50+ year gap I believe. Kind of wild that Candle in the Wind was his last top 10 because I associate it with his biggest moment and one of the biggest songs of all time. Was this way after his peak? For some of the folks who were around for that, was it more like a big pop star releasing a massive hit or an older artist coming back for a swan song?

If anything she could be reorienting her efforts for a UK #1 with ATW since it might have a shot if she tried really hard. Adele and Ed Sheeran are still ahead so it might be too late but she did discount ATW over there... who knows at this point.

Recorded for the death of princess Diana. Elton was a close friend. . The songs existence had nothing to do with Elton getting one last hit or whatever Initially performed for the globally televised funeral. This would be why it was so big.

Easy on Me is getting a Country version with Chris Stapleton in the deluxe version of 30. That's getting sent to radio stations in the format.

EJ was charting consistently in the 90s(Ever hear of The Lion King), and he was about release "The Big Picture" in 1997. The lead single "Something About The Way You Look Tonight" was already rising up the CHR/Hot AC/AC charts when Princess Diana was killed. Radio began playing "Candle In The Wind" and Elton had Bernie write new lyrics for the song, which he performed at the funeral which was televised live on every channel. He later recorded a studio version a day later for release as a single. The CD single was paired with the then current single for a Double A-Side, with the proceeds going to Diana's charity. For a few weeks, radio played "Candle '97" more than "Something" but quickly switched back to the new single. The single sold well over a million copies in its first week and was #1 for months. For the first few weeks, "Candle 97" was listed first but once "Something" surpassed it in airplay, the single order flipped. "The Big Picture" might have sold better and debuted at #1 had Elton pushed back its release date a week later, instead they stuck with the Sept. 22 date, which was also Candle 97's release date.

Late to the game but if Smokin' Out the Window, ATW, Easy on Me and Cold Heart are all in the top ten, this will be the first top ten I've cared about in like 6 months

Random question what's the most stacked weekly top 10 you can think of? This one might have super high highs but still only 6 songs I like (yes i still like heat waves dont hate)
Found a pretty amazing one. #1 actually sucks but the rest are so good that it doesn't matter
#1: T.I. - Whatever You Like #2: T.I. f/ Rihanna - Live Your Life #3: P!nk - So What #4: Britney Spears - Womanizer #5: Katy Perry - Hot N Cold #6: Rihanna - Disturbia #7: Kevin Rudolf f/ Lil Wayne - Let It Rock #8 - Neyo - Miss Independent #9 - Taylor Swift - Fearless #10 - T-Pain - Can't Believe It

I quite like the sad girl recording. Def more than the acoustic version with screaming fans in the background.

Kanye West & Jamie Foxx 03 The Way You Move - Outkast feat. Sleepy Brown 04 Me, Myself And I - Beyonce 05 Hey Ya! - Outkast 06 One Call Away - Chingy feat. J. Weav 07 Hotel - Cassidy feat. R. Kelly 08 Tipsy - J-Kwon 09 Sorry 2004 - Ruben Studdard 10 You Don't Know My Name - Alicia Keys

Most stacked top ten. Probably something from 1994-96 or 1984 tbh. Some good ones around 2010-12 too. Probably 2006.

I'm hoping Taylor's own RED tracks don't block Enchanted from re-charting...

The Adele/Chris Stapleton collab was widely reported in the mainstream media 2 weeks ago. Not sure why it’s a surprise that’s it’s headed to Country radio.
Adele’s PR machine is really hitting it quite perfectly - the past few months have been an amazing build trying to reach her very diverse fanbase.

I'm hoping Taylor's own RED tracks don't block Enchanted from re-charting... Enchanted needs to get to top 50, because it's the old (recurrent one), not the TV that could debut below #50. Considering it's gonna be around top 30 on streaming and not much more... not gonna happen this week I think.

All Too Well is beyond locked for #1.
Red & State of Grace are eyeing top 20 debuts. There’s a few more that will be top 40 debuts.
There’s a few songs in danger of missing top 100 possibly, but I know she’s very strong on Amazon Music so I wouldn’t be surprised if every song ends up debuting in the end.

(also C**** B**** twice is unfortunate in retrospect)

Didn’t Good as Hell by Lizzo debut below the top 50 the week of the album bomb for Taylor’s Lover?

2008 was the worst year of the 2000s, and maybe even in music history. So many of these songs are unlistenable, and the only song I like on the list was Love Song, and that was a leftover from 2007.

I thought 2008 was C**** B****'s best year and those two songs along with Forever were some of the best hits of the year

I'll throw in my two cents
March 3, 2012
1. Part of Me - Katy Perry 2. Set Fire to the Rain - Adele 3. I Will Always Love You - Whitney Houston 4. Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You) - Kelly Clarkson 5. Rolling in the Deep - Adele 6. We Are Young - Fun feat. Janelle Monae 7. Someone Like You - Adele 8. We Found Love - Calvin Harris feat. Rihanna 9. Starships - Nicki Minaj 10. Turn Up the Music - Chris Brown
This would be a perfect top 10 if we swapped out the last two for Glad You Came and Somebody That I Used to Know.

2008 is probably the worst year for popular music in """recent""" memory but it works well as a transitionary year. 2009 feels more like a part of the early 2010's than the 2000's to me (similar to how 2019 feels closer to 2020/2021 than 2017/2018)

As Rose "Payola" Nylund might agree, I think some from spring 1996 were incredible. Here are two examples: January 13, 19961. "One Sweet Day" - Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men 2. "Exhale" - Whitney Houston 3. "Hey Lover" - LL Cool J & Boyz II Men 4. "Gangsta's Paradise" - Coolio 5. "Diggin' On You" - TLC 6. "Breakfas At Tiffany's" - Deep Blue Something 7. "Fantasy" - Mariah Carey 8. "Before You Walk Out Of My Life" - Monica 9. "Name" - Goo Goo Dolls 10. "Missing" - Everything but the Girl June 8, 19961. "The Crossroads" - Bone Thugs N Harmony 2. "Always Be My Baby" - Mariah Carey 3. "Because You Loved Me" - Celine Dion 4. "Give Me One Reason" - Tracey Chapman 5. "You're the One" - SWV 6. "Nobody Knows" - Tony Rich Project 7. "You're Making Me High" - Toni Braxton 8. "Fastlove" - George Michael 9. "Ironic" - Alanis Morissette 10. "Until It Sleeps" - Metallica

Ew so much bad taste coming at 2008…
In addition to having a great selection of hits, that was such a huge year for the female eras (Fearless, I Am Sasha Fierce, The Fame, Funhouse, Good Girl Gone Bad, Circus, E=MC^2, Hard Candy, One of the Boys, AND Adele/Amy/Leona/Duffy all being in the midst of eras).
2017 had horrible hits in general (Shape of You, Despacito ruling over half the year alone) and was also a horrible year for women. To say 2008 was worse than a year like that is yikes.
