Also hilarious if the headline, in 2021 mind you, is "Elton John battles Mariah Carey for Hot 100 top spot". Keep getting it, legends. Don't forget Brenda Lee! She isn't battling for #1, though, is she? I think the only place she leads "AIWFCIY" is on Spotify, and she's barely ahead there. |

For the week of their predictions, "AIWFCIY" is ahead on Spotify, Amaazon, YouTube, and Apple. Where are they saying "RATCT" is getting more streams to also be ahead overall in streams? More so we saw last year that even when "AIWFCIY" fell behind "RATCT" on Spotify, it still led in overall streams and was also ahead in overall airplay and was of course #1 every week on the Holiday 100. It's going to take something else for "RATCT" to pass it. |

Ridiculous π€£ They did this for Dynamite too last year. Only difference is that Dynamite hadn't gone recurrent yet when its "holiday remix" came out. I'm pretty sure Butter would have to see a truly significant gain in streaming or (much less likely) radio in order to return to the Hot 100 this week. |

That actually won't be true for two more weeks...Mariah and Brenda have spent a total of 9 weeks in the top ten together over the last few holiday seasons. Mariah and Elton have spent 10 weeks in the top ten together, during the runs of "Can't Let Go"/ "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me" in early 1992 and then "Honey"/Candle In The Wind '97" in late 1997. And if Elton's Christmas song or "Cold Heart" are in the top ten with AIWFCIY then he'll still keep ahead by one week! This is the chart trivia I've missed ... Anyway, Elton could score Top 10s in consecutive years if it comes together right: EJ/ES in 2021 and EJ/DL in 2022. Something tells me Madonna is watching these EJ developments and making plans... Cold Heart is projected to drop from #11 to #15 for the week of 12/11. it can bounce back once the Christmas songs recede, but it slipped in Spotify streams this week. |

Does Billboard have a precedent when it comes to sales pushes like these? I know they allow certain songs that pick up a ton of steam following an artistβs passing (David Bowie, Prince, DMX, etc.), and obviously all the old holiday songs, but they also donβt allow songs that already left the Hot 100 long ago but get streaming boosts from album releases (Bodak Yellow, Holy, Lonely).

I remember seeing in either The Wall Street journal or Forbes that Billboard's parent company is weighing selling Billboard because of the publication not generating profit, so they are probably trying to pander to stan Twitter now so that they have some type of reliable audience to boost its page viewership |

I assume programmed streams are Pandora or something we don't have data for, but as was said "AIWFCIY" was ahead on the main paid services last week so what are we missing?

Last year, "Dynamite" jumped 24-9 following the "holiday" remix (sales jumped 227% to 40,000). I don't know if fans were able to buy it from their website, though. I also don't see where the group is selling the remix on the website.
